Absolutely agree. I watch a lot of reactors and started getting these videos recommended to me and kinda wrote them off thinking that the stereotype would hold true, but just recently watched the Hunger Games reaction and it made me realize I was entirely wrong. I've been watching a bunch of the reactions now, just kind of bingeing them.

Seen the Oak ( and all of you guys ) becoming so incredibly invested and a super fan makes me, somehow, quite happy. I grew up with these movies, over 20 years being a fan. As a kid I would play with wooden sticks and imagining spells and learning with the movies, growing up together. I cried like a little girl that had lost her doll when I watched the HBO Reunion, from beginning to end. Such a huge part of my life and it is quite enjoyable to see grown ass man becoming fans, as I am now as well. Happy Potter is not a kids movie, it never was, it’s a life lesson and a family!

It needs to be said, all credit to JK Rowling, her writing chops, her imagination, her sense of humour, her character development, her plot lines, subtlety, her extensive English historic and literary references, her story building, her need to put food on the table, no joke. Speaking of the child actors growing up in a huge franchise parallel to their characters, the creepiest story I know was Emma Watson’s countdown.
The culture started sexualizing her almost immediately and eventually there was a online link that was just a minute by minute countdown to her 18th birthday.
Then paparazzi descended to stalk her and hours into her birthday they attacked at the first opportunity and a photographer DOVE under her to take a shot up her skirt to publish as soon as legally possible whatever he could catch.
Daniel Radcliffe struggled with alcohol WHILE being Harry and actually became sober before he even turned 21 and could legally buy a beverage.
I’m actually surprised the main three survived the gauntlet of growing up Potter.
Fame is one thing - this was another animal.

Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart. When my cousin was little, he was my shadow. We bonded so much over the franchise. It became our secret since his mother didnt allow him to watch or read it (she was strict about everything he did when younger). He was always at my house and would ask me to read the books to him and we would go watch the movies together behind her back. Now hes an adult and are still close (like brother/sister) and hes engaged and talking kids and makes me so proud. I credit this franchise to our incredible bond. Cannot wait to do the same with his kids.

In my opinion the HP community, or family, is very welcoming and caring towards both existing members, as well as people who just started out their journey into the magical world. Well, unless you full on insult a fan favorite character. We'll protect what we hold dear.
But over all, I think we're very inclusive to everyone who shows an interest in our little neck of the woods, and we'll welcome everyone with open arms. Whether you wish to be a professional Quidditch player, hide yourself away in the dungeons to brew potions, or read the Quibbler upside down with your wand behind your ear, it doesn't matter. We can happily co-exist and get along.
I'm glad that this message was conveyed well enough to not scare you guys away. I'm aware we can sometimes come across as overly enthusiastic and maybe a little overbearing, but we're good people at heart who want to make new friends, and spread the word about this magical adventure called Harry Potter.
As for the Fantastic Beasts series: the fandom is divided. For many, many reasons which I won't be getting into.
My advise to you guys, if I'm allowed to give it, is to try them out and keep an open mind. Forget whatever people said and try to form your own opinion.
It's not bad to love the movies, it's also not bad to hate them, you're even quite alright to be neutral on them all together, I know I am.
Basically, just try them out, really.

She sat there in the cafe with no money and wrote a book from which she never knew if it would ever get published and make any money, but she did not only do that, she kind of planned the storylines for 7 books... if you read the books a second time, you realise how many things in the earlier books make sense after knowing the whole story.

The magic of Harry Potter is that the tone of the movies changes as they progress. If one of them isn’t to your taste another one will be as well as each one teaching you so many important lessons. I wasn’t born when the first one came out, but HP is the first book my mom bought me when I was 7, the first series I watched that made me want to be a better person, and the first time where I truly felt connected to the characters. The Harry Potter series was an escape for me. I can’t express how much it means to have you guys not only do an outstanding reaction, but always give it a chance to get better. The Mirror of Erised is easy to remember when you find out its Desire spelled backwards -- like a mirror image --- Also the movie version of the enslavement and treatment of the House Elves and how apathetic their plight is treated by the Wizarding community is barely touched on in the movies and in the books Hermione seemed to be the only one who was truly against their being treated less than humanely -- everyone except Dobby seemed too afraid to live a life as a individual -- Also a lot of how Wizards in general thought themselves to be superiors above all other creatures both magical and nonmagical is not addressed in the movies -- you might note how beings like House Elves -- Goblins -- Centaurs are not allowed to use wands-- they are strictly forbidden from using them -- I remember in one of the books there is a Statue I believe in the Ministry of Magic building that depicts a Wizard and a Witch standing majestically in the center surrounded by other magical beings with poses that suggest they are worshipping their superiors

Another story like growing up with the characters like you guys were talking about halfway through the the video is Percy Jackson. They are currently making a show (each season is a book) its about the children of the gods (Zeus, Athena, aires, ect) (more interesting than it seems -they are called halfbloods and go to camp halfblood) it’s a really good book series with amazing humour in them. They did have two movies adapted for it, but it was an awful adaptation that the author hated it as well. (Make me laugh and wanna rip my hair out at the same time💀)
That what really, I feel doomed the series. In my opinion it would have been almost as big as Harry Potter if they were done justice.
Anyway sorry for the info dump, loved the round table - I have a hard time watching stuff for a long time with people talking by itself, and this made me sit and listen. You guys are great!!!
Also the author is a really great dude, like him interacting with his fan base ALOT. He’s used fan art for the of fiction art i think. And I’m pretty sure started the series because he ran out of stories to tell his son at night( that I remember I might be lying idk) anywayyy it’s an daisy read and so worth it. Even if you don’t check it out at least you are aware of a story that has such a great story like Harry Potter and in my opinion a better way of writing and embodying the characters.

Also, since Oak is being honest and you guys shouldn't underestimate the impact you make here.
When I started watching your channel (random YT suggestion), I was a bit nervous. It literally made me physically anxious, as you guys look like the type of guys from my "small town" childhood experience that are dangerous. Not "just" bullies, but physical ones who don't give a rat's @ss if you die while they're beating the sh!t out of you. It seemed like you were great guys and I felt like I was hanging out with "friends" (That fast! ikr?!) Without your react channel I don't know if I ever would have spent time with "guys like you". Summer of 2002 my brother's fiancee was staying with us and insisted on renting the first Harry Potter movie. I knew about Harry Potter but was too obsessed during Pokemania to read actual books. I was twelve and when my cool older brother(who was really a super DnD nerd but always cool to me) lets me hang out with him. I didn't say no. To say I loved it was an understatement. I became a full blown Potterhead. This got me to read books 200+ pages for fun not school, during my summer.
I saw the rest in theaters. Got the last 2 books at midnight I was 15 and 17 at the time so I remember waiting. Saw the last 3 films in the midnight showings as I was old enough to stay out that late at night as I wouldn'tbe home until after 2am, too much of a rule follower to see the others that late without permission.
I took house quizzes that deciding factors were favorite colors. They have come a long way and after taking many quizzes for 20 years. I can confidently say my 11 year old self would be a Hufflepuff if not Ravenclaw. Harry Potter was the only midnight showings that I gave a damn about. I would have worked the sixth movie if I hadnt asked off months before. As I was working at a Cinemark at the time. I remember a physics teacher at my school dressing as Dumbledore any chance he got he was there and almost a mini celebrity at Harry Potter events in my small suburb of Dallas. I mean a man in his late fifties with a fantastic Dumbledore cos-play, in his biggest movie. Mr. Whitman you are a legend.

I'm very glad the Harry Potter family kept showing your reactions the support they deserved. I have 2 main observations about that.
The first is that I think this channel's reactions were unique in the sense of being openly skeptical - respectfully skeptical, but still skeptical - and we were captured by your change of heart as the series progressed.
The second is something you touched on multiple times, that this series is truly one of a kind with no comparison. Other movie series have equally passionate fanbases, but lots of them have "rivals" - the most obvious being Star Wars vs Star Trek. That can lead to toxic competitiveness on public forums, especially reaction channels. While its hard to compare and say HP is better or worse than any of those series, the fact is it stands alone, so I find that its fanbase can be more welcoming.
Thank you for helping me relive such a massive part of my life in a wonderfully entertaining way.

The Barns and Nobles book store by Union Square even had Jim Dale who did the recordings for the Harry Potter audio books do a reading at the release party each year. It was so good it was like watching a Broadway show.
During the final book release the Scholastic store in Soho did a full block party. They closed off two blocks and filled it with Harry Potter themed activities and decorations including a full size giant inflatable Womping Willow.
I miss those Harry Potter book release parties. It was like celebrating New Years complete with countdowns. Such a hoot.
