[POV] Police Almost GOT HIT While Clearing Busy Highway

- Welcome! Today we're following a Dutch emergency team with police motor vehicles and an ambulance. A patient is in critical condition and needs to be transported from the A12 Knorrestein to the Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam as soon as possible. The ambulance staff requested a motor escort from the control room of the ambulance service. After approval, the request is forwarded to the control room of the police. They then dispatch the motor officer of the Traffic Team. Once on the scene, the commander of the motor officer makes arrangements with the ambulance driver regarding the route and the type of transport. The Traffic Team is part of the Regional Operational Cooperation Service. They are responsible for supervision, enforcement and crime prevention at the junctions of the infrastructure. Tasks include traffic enforcement and traffic accident handling. The department also manages the automatic number plate recognition. The Traffic Team is always in the middle of the operation and fully connected with the basic teams. Despite the fact that their core business is traffic enforcement and handling of traffic accidents, one can also encounter them at the “regular” emergency calls. As a team, they are responsible for the integral traffic enforcement and handling of complex traffic accidents within the service area of the unit. They want to have and maintain a current view of the prioritized safety themes, from a decisive, result-oriented, operational and collaborative perspective. They actively seek operational cooperation with the basic teams, both ad hoc and project-based. In this way, they want to bring in knowledge and expertise.

Correction, when a cop or ambulance not flashing his light or siren they are cocidered normal traffic. you dont have to move over
You need to be in the right lane except when passing someone, so the yaris still should have moved over.
@@unknown-hunter2559 true
Until you are the one in the ambulance
Brilliant co operation from police . I've had this happen to me once in UK whilst driving ambulance, where I had police escort me to Liverpool from Cheshire along M62,had plenty of police stopping traffic at 6 way traffic intersection.
Switching off the ligjts on the bike was a Mistake as it would tell drivers he is not in a hurry
He was a bit to far forward, thus the gap had become a bit wide.
The lights were still on, only the siren was out. That can course confusing situations. Only by using lights and siren the officer is allowed to create free lanes and drivers have follow his instructions.
@@paulderuiter5724 Lights are clearly off from 1:16 to 1:46. Very confusing why the motorcycle cop expected the yaris to move over without lights. You wouldn't expect traffic to move over for other cops or ambulances without priority signals on.
Yes you're right sorry for my misunderstanding.
@@helldogbe4077 Unless you are required to drive in the most right lane. If it wasn't a emergency he would have written a ticket for unnecessary eft driving.
these types of videos are addictive
Their First Response cars are nice and compact too
At the A12 the cars stay in the 2nd lane from the right as the right lane goes to another direction. I've seen a lot videos of this team, but this is a first one at which they try to force cars out of their way without lights and sirens. Only with lights and sirens they are priority vehicles, otherwise you don't have to make way for them.
Brilliant, like a swarm of hornets. Great content and great service officer's. 👏 ✌️🤘🇦🇺
Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 needs this system. No one pulls to the left here , they need to be fined
that’s wrong side off driving amd giving way 😂😂
Work vans like the one that moved too slowly at 2:33 are ones to watch out for anyway. A lot of people driving vans like that are in a hurry going from place to place, often new to the area, maybe on their phone or messing with navigation, but pushy because they have a job to do. Always be on guard and expect them to pull stunts not to miss their exit, etc
These are great videos.
No need for jobless bla bla comments.
They speak for themselfs.
The whole cops this and that chi chat is disrespectfull for the officers risking their lives saving lives.
The coordination of those cops is indeed impressive. I wonder how much training goes into that?
Not sure for netherlands, but in France, there are pre selection and selection that tests firstly your aptitude on off-road with enduro, then your aptitude on ground with handling with roadster (many gets eliminated here), then they do some circuits to start handling the bikes while doing signs fluently. And then they practice on real traffic.
Apparently only 80% of people can pass those selections (everyone had already its permit to drive bikes)
Once they are within the team, there are formations to maintain their levels or build skills like shooting from the bike.
In the netherlands there is also a pre selection and test of you are the right person for this job.
@@davebarbaracroes709 apart from the additional training you get when joining the police, to qualify for this - VTB as it is called - there is another training lasting three weeks.
@Emergency P.O.V what amazing teamwork, technique ,and riding skill to clear a path for the ambulance all while riding at breakneck speeds while making multiple decisions on the fly in a every changing environment and road situation while using every inch of there training to the maximum to create a great chance of success.
We have the SAME problem in the UK . Some drivers are SO UNAWARE of what is around them , even with noise . problem is you never know if they are in drink or drugs as well as just not looking .
Police should keep sirens on if they want to pass. Last week I had a police van without sirens driving behind me on my motorcycle around 1m behind me. I couldnt move over the lane because it was a double solid white line which is forbidden to cross. I crossed this exact same line in the same place to let a police car with sirens pass a year earlier and he was actually trying to pull me over and I hadnt realised yet. When he stopped me he threatened me with a ticket for crossing the double white line. I said "I was letting you pass" and he said "but it is still forbidden" 😂 sometimes you cannot possibly do the right thing according to Police.
Also depends on which police officer lol maybe she/he diddn't get laid
Question remains: why did the motor cop silence his alarms on such a crucial moment. I'm sure he knows best but it seems strange to me.
Was a mistake. It was not his intention to silence them
And then be like "Hey I just came blasting up out of nowhere speeding by over 50 kilometers per hour which nobody expects and which Dutch law puts well beyond what you have to reasonably anticipate, why didn't the Yaris driver notice me instantly?"
I guess the gap was too big between him and the ambulance, so he had to slow down. But he should have done just that, slowed down (in combination with turning off his emergency signals), so the mistake wasn't necessarily turning them off I think, but keeping such a high speed and sitting in the cars blind spot. You could see the panic in the drivers movement when the signals were turned back on, he reacted quickly though.
This is commendable, brought tears to my eyes!✌
they should habe some prepared recording they can put over the speaker for the highway. stay out of left lane for ambulance or in the city: don't move into intersection until ambulance arrives...
In the future there will be notifications on all the car screens, some traffic apps already have it.
they have had it on the radio of the cars but I don't know why they stopped it
The coordination between police and those who manages roads is too slow as of now, but in the future I'm pretty sure they'll input this feature.
I work in the traffic control centre (Rijkswaterstaat) here in the Netherlands, and in some cases we are in contact with the ambulance driver via radio or telephone and we will put red crosses above the left lane so no other drivers can use that lane and thus make it free of traffic.
Back when there was only FM and Phillips Cassette tape, there where some experiments with RDS,
But nowadays with DSB+, bluetooth and Apple/Android Auto, there is no guarantee that people are listening to a local station for the Ambulance to jam.
Flitsmeister navigation responds to signals from emergency vehicles. But that is a paid app and radar warning devices are illegal in some European nations.
"the siren and blue lights are still off. The driver in the grey car is supposed to move over immediately" - no they are not, at that point they just have an aggressive biker behind them with no additional rights of the road. The lanes are going to different places as the signs ahead showed. Terrible control of traffic at that stage
Maybe he didn't want to control traffic in this moment?
@@hempel3953 wasn't so much the intention of the rider but the commentary I was criticising - though, how close they were riding suggests they probably did want to push through and forgot the lights were off in the moment.
When I am driving on the Dutch motorways and I see a motorcycle cop on my ass , I move ,lights or no lights..... no excuse to just hang around
In the Netherlands they do still have additional rights, only difference without lights and siren is that other drivers aren’t warned up front, so that’s a mistake from the police officer.
@@Kay-pu2jn Your place on the road is still on the right. The car was not overtaking so still in the wrong
Great Teamwork
Netherlands is not restricted to 62 mph, they don't use old money. We are in the present, and use METRIC.
62 mph, 100 km/h, first bike was cruising at 155 km/h, 100mph on the 3 lane! not everyone is familiar with metric, don't hold it against them!!
@@davidoshea1837 There is only ONE country, in the whole world, that is stuck in the past with imperial. The civilised world is either 100% metric, or dual use.
@@Demun1649 The UK uses MPH yet uses Celsius like rest of EU. Yet also use LBS, ST, KG, Liters and so on too. hmm.
@@nekotranslates AND? What is the point you were trying to make? And failed?
@@Demun1649 Parroting the idiotic "You can only use our measurement system!" shit makes you far more annoying than anything else.
Shut the fuck up.
Dutch law states that you should always drive at the far right of the road. He still had to move over even if the cop isn’t on a blue light run. If you stay in the left/middle lane while there is room on the right side this can result in a fine of €270,-
The police would be at fault if he had hit the vehicle. Still have a duty of care.
Can't say the cop almost got hit, the cop almost hit the van
Not even close to a hit. Police was in control and just wanted the van to move all the way to the other lane and not just to let him pass.
I salute to all these cops for giving respect to our human being. No need to request public to give respect, they themselves note the emergency of the ambulance and give away the path to reach hospital on time to save the live inside ambulance.
Excellent teamwork 🇬🇧
Excellent police work.
Excellent team work by all 👍👏👏👏

20 years ago the CEO of Audi said " we are at best / top of engineering- what will sell a car now is IN CAR ENTERTAINMENTS," - result: slow and slower reactions to hazards and observations , little minds stuck to little screens 😅
Not only radios just look how much people and especially the young drivers (beginner) find their smartphone more important then traffic
Video’s like this make me proud about holland🤩
@Emergency P.O.V interesting concept of driving a bike at speed and expecting cars to use that thing called a rear veiw mirror or indeed any mirror to see the bike,, regardless of being fully marked up and moving over without sirens or lights on,, because with lights and sirens on he was still struggling to clear traffic out of the way...also remember a bike is a lot less big then a car,, eg alot less of a physical presence then a car to spot and dominate the road space..and i know a bit about that aspect because i ride a bike.
As a dutch person, I like the video, but please get your facts straight, coming from A12 Zoetermeer going onto the exit, you go to Highway A13 & Highway A4, not A20, thats a few kilometers further down the road
3:35 If a car is on the right side, it can't go to the side
Is this common in the Netherlands? Very rare occurrence in Australia.
Only on request of the ambulance
no but this is a very special transport, probably to a specialist hospital. I think most of these drives are arranged between hospitals, rarely from an accident or so.
This happends sometimes when people need to be transported (from a hospital to another) or it needs to be urgent but it isnt that rare
All police bikers are trained for such things. So they do know what to do when the time comes
@@beetle.fleetle.1582 not true, the motorcycle cops need special training in addition to the standard police motor training
Extremely misleading title
Great work and a great video! Why is it always van drivers that are tardy and not paying attention?
Because the have no back window. And the look less in their mirrors.
I like your professional work very much.
Great content, keep it up !
Thank you!
Can’t help but think I’ve seen this on the original channel this was copied from
First class training for the police riders and drivers , on top of that they are smart yet decent people..I spent 48 years as an international trucker and was regularly in Holland going back to the 1970s , I was never stopped once by the Dutch police basically because I followed the rules kept a clean safe truck and was also a professional driver…
Here in the USA we don’t ever have police help with traffic when come EMS
But the USA has taken flights helicopters for the most cases
The Netherlands is 200 by 130 miles, and while there are medical helicopters, these are generally used to deploy doctors specialized in trauma, triage and first aid, not so much for airlifts, except maybe on the Dutch Wadden isles in the north, or the Zeeuwse eilanden in the southwest.
Ambulances and helicopters are free in The Netherlands.
@@temp5782 No, they are not. They charge hefty fees for transporting you, but the health insurance, which is compulsory for everyone in the Netherlands, pays these bills.

I like these videos but there is to much exaggeration about how the civilians on the road are responding "to slow"
Funny that the cars on dutch autobahn drive only 90 km/h, but the motorbike driver rides at near 200 km/h. What do you thinking how many meters the motorbike rides in this 5 seconds where the car driver reacts ...
Yeah I agree. There's a startle factor, as well as a making sure you don't cause an accident by doing something unexpected factor. These are not situations that most people encounter every day.
Too much sensation added, while video speaks for itself.
Sry. It is too slow.
@@OldLordSpeedycouple of things not quite right: it’s snelweg not autobahn (we’re not German).
The whole idea of these roadclearing trips is to clear traffic in advance of the ambulance so the ambulance can keep a constant speed. More comfortable for the patient. Hence you’ll see the motorcycle speed up to close the gap with traffic in front, so that he (or she) can get the lane cleared in time.
The cops don’t drive at a steady 200kph, usually their speed is much lower (since the ambulance driver should not exceed certain speed limits, again for the comfort of their patient).
Finally, traffic on Dutch snelwegen tend to drive at around the speed limit so 100-105kmph during the day and 130-140 after 7PM (when speed limits are adjusted). The speed difference between traffic and cops is therefore barely ever as big as you make it out to be.
These are motorcyclists from Team Verkeer Den Haag and have been specially trained for this. It is not only about being able to ride a motorcycle very well, but also being able to shift gears very quickly and read traffic. Many very good motorcyclists fail the training to be allowed to perform such escorts.
Team Traffic not only escorts ambulances, but also dignitaries, government leaders and all other transport that requires police guidance. If there is no escort, they are just officers who work the regular shift.
Awesome bikes
Fantastisch werk mannen!
Nobody is restricted to 62 mph on Dutch freeways.
Been there done that and would never turn off the equipment. Most of those drivers probably looking at their mobiles. I see dozens every day but in the uk we very rarely see a police officer in the streets to give them a ticket.
Remember people keep left unless overtaking ITS THE LAW in the uk
It's a special trained escort unit of the Dutch Police.
No it's not.
Every cops gets this training.

French motor police use a kind of waiving pattern when clearing the highway. This works even better I think.
💯 % Respect ✅️💪👍👍
You don't have to move over for ambulances in the Netherlands?
62 miles=100 km in the netherlands
Most vehicles in the first two minutes of the video had to wait for more space between them and vehicles in front and on their right. "Cop almost got hit" is complete crap, he got too close to that van before it had room to move over.
I have seen a lot of these kind of videos from different countries but the Dutch police is by far the best at it.
The French seem to be terrible strangely enough.
The Dutch police, whilst very good (except when turning off blue lights & sirens) are by no means a patch on the Special Escort Group (known as SEG) of London’s Metropolitan Police.
How do they use their right hand to wave cars to the right?
The right hand is the throttle! As soon as you tell them to move over you have the hand off the throttle, and are going to slow down, and they go past?
Left hand traffic can do it, as the left hand is the clutch, not needed to maintain speed, just to change down. You can change up a gear without the clutch.
Cruise control probably

1:44 the cop should not have turned his lights and sirens off. By turning off the lights and sirens he was creating confusion with the other vehicles. That part was just reckless.
In NZ light's on Kiwi's move over, common sense, sadly we have people from overseas, who don't give a rat's,
Even at the Red light's,if you're in the lane the responders want to use,you drive through the intersection.to let them go,
Why did you use the freedom units?
For all the viewers from Liberia and that one other country that still uses that archaic system.
This would not work in UK major cities as there are too many self-entitled, lycra clad cyclists who ignore all road rules and the police.
Impressive but cheaper by helicopter in Canada.
Heroes at work they have my respect
"Multiple intersections with cars, bikers, pedestrians and even some tramps"
Aren't tramps pedestrians too?
3:28 dude the driver can't move to the right, wtf is this video, three minutes in and everything you said is wrong

These 'motor mice' - as we Dutch tend to call them - are the bees knees of the Dutch police force.
Highly respected by Dutch citizens.
Does every ambulance require a police escort?
Only critical emergency, I think.
So, unless you have a patient that will die in 30 min without critical care, then it just be a regular ambulance trying to get through traffic
@@nekotranslates thanks, I watched more pov videos and quickly answered my question when I realised how congested some of these roads can be!
Great teamwork... It did remind me of the fake "cop" Jeremy Dewitt in USA... with their whistles...

if it was in usa , patient could die three times
Why yhe the hell did he even closed them
2:23 is not the a20 its the a13 (i life near it so yhea)
The first line of commentary is completely wrong. These rides don't just pop up. They are planned.
not always
They are more often not planned then other way around. Think about a traffic accident where there are heavy injuries. I've worked for the Rotterdam Police and almost every month there where emergency transports where the Police squad cars assists to free up crossings. The fact that you don't see them in this video tells me that this was not a planned ride.
2:37 almost got hit
The title is pretty clickbaity, the only dangerous situation was at 1:44 and completely caused by the policeman himself
I like the videos in general, but cut the music - it is just awful
@berndkahlau9770 Thanks for your feedback! In the newest video the music is a lot softer. Please check it out and let me know what you think.
It's a digital recording of a mouth organ
The statement you start of with is pure nonsense. All drivers are obliged to make way for an ambulance with sirens and warning lights, they don't need police with sirens and warning lights for that. It does help though, obviously.
lol Why 62mph
I have the power, I made it go to 2.7k likes
Stupid title for this video. The cop did not almost get hit. Wasn't even close. The van driver was just slow to move right. Thumbs down for this video.
I hate these videos, literally clickbait titles and incorrect information, the officer was no where close to getting hit, the lack of knowledge influencers have now Is hilarious
overdramatised commentary but interesting video
The commentary is way to aggresive... you gotta give traffic time to respond. As you can see their first response is to hit the brakes so you cant drove as of theyve seem you
1:40 Incorrect! Because the siren and lights are out, the white vehicle has no reason to believe the cop is on the road for an emergency. If a cop is behind you and their lights and sirens are not enables there is 0 obligation to move over. The driver of the car moved over immediately as soon as the lights and sirens came on. The only person to fault for this situation is the cop, he should have kept his lights on.
2:40 Almost got hit? How does a guy get hit by hitting someone in front of him? Nonsense.
Lastly, the only bit of commentary you provided that was of any informative value was that the cops are needed so the Ambulance can navigate the busy streets and crossings of Rotterdam safely. For the rest the commentary has been full of incorrect assumptions and misinformation. It's clear you don't know what you're talking about.
Even with only blue lights, they are not obligated to move over. Only blue and no sirens means that they are NOT a priority vehicle, but it's best to treat them that way, though.
You have no business in the left lane when the right one is clear...
You are required by law to move to the right lane
Je kunt ook gewoon een kruis aanvragen op de snelweg, ipv iedereen te beschuldigen niet op tijd ‘naar rechts’ te gaan….😒
Spiegelen, s p i e g e l e n.
the person narrating is doing a terrible job.......
It was absolutely not necessary to escort the ambulance in this way. So much dangerous situations... unreasonable...
You would probably think different if you or your child was in that ambulance. Sometimes seconds do count and it's a lot easier to work on a patient when to ride is more smooth.
@@janpeter6047 You misunderstood me. I didn't say that the escort was unnecessary. The police drove very aggressively, riskily, hectically and sometimes without blue lights. That doesn't seem professional.
@@manmar2747 they are very professional, though
@@manmar2747 They're far more professional than any US pig will ever be.
Be quiet.
There used to be a time when I felt sorry for them in situations like this but that was oh so many decades ago.
CZcams and UK thought police won't let me say what I think of them now but it's nothing positive
Daft as a moose to turn the siren and lights off.
Democratic socialism in action😊
This is extremely ridiculous. This is how funeral processions work, as well as how they need to work, only at a much slower speed.
They call this 'safe!?' Yeah, it's safe... Safe enough for the motorcycle cops to hit another vehicle, at such a high rate of speed, and instantly die. This also takes up cops that could easily be doing more cop related things.
Drivers don't have to move over for ambulances... That's kinda part of the purpose of ambulances - for traffic to move over and let them get by. They also can't, and shouldn't, speed. They just need to use caution getting through intersections.
- Don't bother replying if you're just going to insist I'm wrong. If you fail to correctly comprehend reality then that's your problem.
Youre absolutely right.
So, if you have a patient that needs to get to hospital within 30 min or they die, then what? An escort would get them there in say 10 min instead of being stuck in traffic for 40 min.
@@nekotranslates
"So, if you have a patient that needs to get to hospital," is it better to get the patient there safely or potentially cause unsafe transport?
Even cops can't speed unless they're pursuing a high speed chase. Ambulances and fire trucks can not speed. As per the law, when ANY vehicle with at least lights running, with or without siren running, other drivers are required to pull to the side or at least create space for the ambulance, fire truck, cop, to get by. They have the same responsibility as other drivers do to cautiously approach and drive through intersections.
Until six months ago... I lived at an intersection where the nearest hospital was about 20(+) minutes away and the furthest away local hospital was about nearly 45 minutes away. Escorts never used for any ambulance calls, never have been.
FYI: Ambulances do have medics riding in the back with the patient. At least one, sometimes two. Patients do get care/treatment in ambulances during transport.
Tell me you are American without telling me….
"Tell me you are" clueless "without telling me..."
The cops did ^nothing^ that advanced traffic lights couldn't handle.
If only ..... the Dutch weren't trying to minimize the amount of traffic lights.
In some places the traffic lights are even being removed.
Traffic lights are dumb. Even intelligent traffic lights. Traffic lights could never clear a left lane to turn right as these police escorts do on a regular basis.
Highly doubt that people response to a traffic light in the same way like to a full police escort...
We’ve had advanced traffic lights for 40 yrs.
