I think it should be made easier for women, because women need to be a part of the army too, they have equal rights, so they should have equal risks. But if it's made easier for them and they didn't pass all the same tests, then the women also shouldn't march and carry out missions with the boys, but only with other women, unless they passed the male test. Likewise, men that didn't pass the male test should get the chance to pass the female test and get easier missions. And those two groups wouldn't be divided in men and women, but in division 1 and division 2, where the stronger division 1 soldiers get harder missions made specifically for their skillset and the weaker division 2 soldiers get easier jobs made specifically for their skillset. And of course, if it's harder for division 1, they would also get more money, but only because there is more risk and work involved, so I don't want to see anyone saying that there is a "wage gap" when you couldn't pass the division 1 tests. It's just logical that someone who puts twice the work in and takes 3 times the risk should get more money. The women that pass the division 1 test would also get that money, and the men who don't pass it and end up in division 2 would also get less money, so I don't wanna see anybody complain about that wage difference.

Fun fact, by the age of 7yr old, boys have 50% greater throwing accuracy than girls in the same range. Proprioception differences start from early childhood and only grow large once puberty hits. Many grapplers choose to attack from the bottom, and when the men were in the bottom position, they were simply setting up the next move instead of needing to defend themselves. I won't go into jargon and technique, but just understand that the men were in complete control at all times, even when they were in the bottom positions.

I am a male who has studied Shōrin-ryū since I was a boy. About 10 years ago I wanted to look into Parker Kenpo. I attended a few months a classes. I still had a white belt. (The school didn't acknowledge my black in Shōrin-ryū) The trainer was pitting people for sparring. He was unaware of my skill level. For some ungodly reasons he decided to pit me (6' 185lbs) against some woman of about 125 pounds. She had a black belt. She was a "planter." I advanced and she threw a side kick which I blocked. I stepped back. She kicked again and I powered through it and simply straight punched her in the face. (I actually pulled the punch) That ended the match. I felt bad on the one hand, but I also realized that at least the woman was knocked out of her false security. Men are stronger than woman. You may have a black belt, but when you face a guy who is twice your hight and weight who is determined to hurt you, odds are that black belt isn't going to help much. My first technique in a similar situation? I call it Fleet Feet. I run like hell.

I was Marine infantry from 2006-12, so hopefully I can shed light on the whole pull-up thing: most guys in my unit could do an average of 12-16 pull-ups, with the stockier guys (usually the machine gunners and mortarmen) doing fewer, and the riflemen and assaultmen ( like myself) usually able to do more. Of course you have your "pt studs" and "light-bodies" in every section, but if a guy could do 20 pullups or more, chances are he was a rifleman or assaultman.
Additionally, when i went through boot camp there was a recruit that (even by the end of boot camp) he couldn't do 3 pullups. But he had an Intel MOS and got a waiver, but honestly, i don't give a fuck he couldn't do pull-ups. The Corps needs nerds just as much as it needs grunts, and when i was in Iraq in '08 I'm glad we had the squints with us.
All that being said, women shouldn't be in combat roles unless they can meet the same criteria as the men. If they can put out, very well and oorah to them, but if they can't, lives might be needlessly endangered

Generally, I think there should be a General Fitness test and a Combat Fitness Test, Army wise it was all one and the same, to my knowledge, you Marines had separate fitness tests, right?
Regardless, the Military needs support and non-combat MOSs just the same as Combat MOSs and the people doing support jobs simply do not need to have the same level of Fitness as the Combat jobs. What I was always told, and disagree with, is that "everyone's first job is an Infantryman". Considering only 10% of soldiers see combat, even in WW2, let alone now, Vietnam being an outlier with 40-60% seeing combat, chances are the intel guy doesn't need to run two miles in 13 minutes.
Basically, if you're just serving in regular capacity, you take a General Fitness Test with lower standards, whereas if you are going to be deployed, or are in a combat MOS, then you should be taking a Combat Fitness Test, which has a high standard and no segregation between gender and age.

I'll never forget a guy I went thru Basic/AIT/Airborne with, Pvt Johnson. During our HtH training he was always doing things "wrong" according to our DS, and finally he pissed off the cadre so much they took him on to "teach him a lesson" and he ended up wiping the floor with them. Turns out he had been training in martial arts most of his life, and had fought several PKA matches before joining the Army. Needless to say, we all listened to Johnson from then on when it came to techniques that worked.
In a combat situation, you're running with anywhere from about 30 lbs of gear (without ruck) to over 100 lbs of kit (with ruck) and if the average grunt weighs in at 165+ lbs naked, you NEED to believe the guy next to you can haul your butt out of a firefight ASAP, something a female soldier just can't do in an expedient manner. As a squad medic, I had to be able to hoist a guy up in a "fireman's carry" and haul ass to an aid station at any time, those guys depended on me to save their lives and I had to be able to perform my duties. Kudos to those few females who WANT to serve on the front lines, but basic biology says otherwise. As an aside, I worked with a lot of female chopper pilots, and those ladies could FLY, they could "thread the needle" during slingload ops better than any male pilots and had awesome hand-eye coordination when putting their birds down in restricted LZs.

Went ahead and performed the initial fitness test without training for it (at the time, it was push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile run? iirc). Was able to pass the test with an above average score (competed nationally as an amateur boxer at the time so wasn't all that difficult for me) but because of a misdiagnosis of asthma and a prescription of an inhaler after the age of 13, I was denied. Tried everything I could to join, but nothing worked. At the time, it annoyed the hell out of me that there were women with far lower fitness standards and the inability to meet even half let alone all of the men's fitness requirements but still managed to join... crazy to think about.

The notion of putting women in the military was addressed by none other than Sun Tzu (the art of war). He pointed out that the issue isn't really so much with women, it's with men. Women don't belong in the military, obviously, but it's men that are the problem. They want to protect women in order to potentially have sex with them and, of course, women are the means of which we have to make new human beings.

Sun Tzu was summoned by the King of Wu because he was thinking, amusingly, of invading another country. He read Master Sun's Art of War, and wanted to talk with him about it. He asked if his principles of war could be applied to women, and Master Sun said yes. To prove it, the King ordered that Master Sun take command of 100 of his concubines. Master Sun split them up into two companies, with the King's two favorites in command of each one. After he explained basic motions of drill and ceremony, Master Sun commanded "Left Face!" The women burst out laughing. He explained again, saying to his aide that if the commands are heard but not understood, it is the fault of the commander. Afterward, he called "Left Face!" again, and again the women burst out laughing (which goes into another issue about women, in that they do not understand the concept of Discipline the way men instinctively do).

So, he says to his aide, "If the commands are understood but are not obeyed, the fault lies in the next echelon commanders." He then orders the two company commanders to be beheaded.

The King sees what's about to happen and quickly sends a message that reads, "Master Sun, do not execute these women; without them, my food shall not taste sweet!" But Master Sun reads this and says, "There are some orders that the general is not obliged to obey from the sovereign." As a result, the two women were beheaded, and two new commanders were appointed.

Then, when he gave the order "Left Face!", the women did as they were told, without a sound. He ordered them about, and drilled them up and down the field, and they did their best to obey. By sundown, they were a well-drilled and capable unit. Sun Tzu sends off a message saying that his troops are ready for his inspection. But the King sends back a message to dismiss his troops and break camp, that he's already proven his ability. Master Sun then said that the King is frivolous about war, and only thinks about this for his own amusement.

But the lesson here is that MEN are the builders and defenders of civilization, not women. We value our women as assets for what they can do for us. If they were men, we'd treat them as such, but they are not. We don't expect them to fight and die on anyone's behalf, certainly not the nation's. To put them in the military is grandiose stupidity, and is inherently unfair to the men in the military who have to do their duty in spite of the horrendous distraction women present (remember the King of Wu about to interfere with Master Sun's proper training and discipline of his "troops?"). They do not add one iota of military effectiveness. They are only there for politics.

@@secondchance6603 Interesting read. I would add that women do indeed have a role in war. Except it is not on the battlefield. Women are feared off the battlefield, where they can manipulate and abuse the trust of those around them. They make great spies and assassins. And they hold a lot of power in providing motivation. All the way from Helen of Troy literally causing an entire war through her choice of mate, to many wives of powerful men where the woman would exert her influence (not always successful, however women often played large roles in leaders decisions.)
      .
You wouldn't use a pickaxe to cut down a tree the same way you wouldn't use a hatchet to split a large rock. The key is finding the right tool for the job. Women don't belong on the battlefield... that is the wrong tool for the job.

She was faster than him, despite him being stronger than her at 132 lbs, and it was apparent to me that she was a lot better in technique than he was. She was a lightning quick ankle pick. She could ride on top because she had strong hips and was actually fairly muscular. He said she was a lot stronger than she looked, and it was mostly in the grip strength. She got him cradled and pinned all in under I'd say 40 seconds. From the first takedown, to his escape, then to the next takedown (which was a perfect knee pick) coupled with the lock of the cradle. Then the pin. Yeah it had to be that quick.
Having actually talked to her briefly during that same tournament, I knew that she really was all girl up close and without the singlet on, and she indeed had a good grip strength as I could feel it when I introduced myself and shook her hand. Told me she was a farmer's daughter and he was a wrestler in the late 80s as well, she has an older brother and he was also a state runner-up twice in High School a few years before her.
She also said that she did gymnastics before and still did it on the weekends as a part of her wrestling training, this was about 8 years ago now so I don't have a clue as to what she's doing or where she is now but I heard she got a few Di scholarship offers for some women's college for wrestling.

as a guy doing martial arts and also trains with females....the frustrating part is that women usually have a better form than men. They are usually better on the technical level but they still loose becuase the men just use raw strength to break their form. If you get in a perfect lock of a woman, chances are that you as male can just brute force your way out of it. Meanwhile if you lock onto a woman she simply doesnt have the pyhsical power to break free no matter how good her form is. Again the guy just uses raw strength to pin her not actual technique.
Its like trying to lift weights. good form helps but ultimately how much you can lift depends mostly on your strength

Years ago I seen a documentary about the San Francisco fire department being required to hire a certain number of women firefighters. The fire Chief set up cameras at each discipline required to pass the physical portion of the exam, he stated that he set the cameras up for future recruitment videos, but later mentioned that he did it to protect his 30 year career and pension. His fear was that a citizen would die in a fire and the family would sue the department for him hiring a female to do a job she was not physically able to do. He was covering his bottom if that scenario ever happened.
During the documentary the film crew showed the president of the NOW women’s organization, after the film he asked her if she’d rather have a 5’6” 130 lbs women grab her by the ankles and get dragged down the stairs bouncing your head off every step, or have a 6’2” 201 lbs man pick you up and have you out of the house in seconds. Her honest answer was “I’d rather get dragged down the stairs, because by the male putting you on his shoulders he’s putting your face in the hazardous smoke”

He got her in an armbar and she didn't tap, he then "locked it in" and ended up hyper extending her elbow and severed the tendons in her bicep. I'm a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt that's been training, on and off, since 2007. Many times I've rolled (our sparring) with females that were purple belts (one belt level up from me) or brown belts (two belt levels up) and absolutely demolished them submitting them with ease because they just lack the strength that we do as men. It's a big difference even with someone who's not very strong like myself. I even try my best to use no strength at all when rolling with those women and still submit them. I'd say that even a trained female could easily get injured if she tried to fight an untrained male in a fight with striking. Unfortunately, many women have been taught to believe we are the same and that they can beat a man in a fight. That thinking will only get them severely hurt so this way of thinking that we're equal needs to stop.

I mean, I'd rather my daughter know how to defend herself. That's what my dad wanted for me, a guy, I got up to a purple belt in Judo, before testing and getting my brown belt, and then I tested and got up to a green in Shotokan karate. I'd love to get back in and start training for my black belt in judo again, but I have pretty bad hips at only 25 and I want to save my body as much as I can now so I don't have some problems my dad does now.
My point is, my kids will have to do some martial arts. Whether that's judo, karate, or another martial art, I want them to do that and have that. Someone said it's best to keep them in soccer, or track and field, and while I may agree with that, I also think that in a likely scenario where a man wants to try and force himself on a lady or girl, she should know how to be dirty, but also effective in how to keep a guy from getting you.
First actual technique I learned was from my sister, when we were sparring, and she said (and this is legit truth), "You know what the best technique is in a street fight?"
I asked, at the ripe old age of 13, I having a green belt in judo and orange in Shotokan karate at that time, "What?"
She then kicked me in the nuts, very quickly, and it was the first time that happened to me, and I fell to my knees, and grabbed my nuts, trying to see if they were still there (which they were), and then she bent down, gave me a wet willy, and then said, "Well, kicking some guys nuts will help."
I learned that moment that a if you connected with a guys nuts he might be going down and not getting up for a while.
