- The 2007 Chevy Trailblazer is back in the shop. This time it has no low beam head lights. The customer says it's not the bulbs. Also, he has some noise in the front end.
Part 2 here: • Chevy Trailblazer - No...
Part 1 here: • Chevy Silverado - Undo...
Hey everyone! He was suppose to cut this footage!
There she is!

LOL
Mrs Wes we enjoy the interaction between you two. We know you can keep him in his place ha ha. You got yourself a decent hardworking man there. I’m sure he considers you the catch of a lifetime as well.
I did subscribe to your channel but since there are no, none, zip, nada videos, I couldn’t comment to say hi. If no content how are we supposed to stay subscribed? For content - Maybe you should make videos from your point of view of him working,. You could record helping him AND (probably even better) videos of your son playing, helping dad and/or mom and bothering dad as all kids do - haha.
Two hours ago Mrs Wes has 51 subscribers. Now she’s at 246 with zero content. That’s just awesome!
I know!!!
Mrs Wes and now you’re at 430!

I claim the 899th sub. There you go Lady.
Like she said, she's hot! =p
Wes, you’re a very talented and methodical mechanic, one of the best at analyzing and diagnosing vehicle mechanical and electrical issues. Love your style of humor and your content. Keep them videos coming.
Troubleshooting mechanics are as rare as hen's teeth these days.
@@johnwilliams4545 even rarer! 😁
It's nice when a customer properly diagnoses a problem. Not so much when it's a wild goose chase.
I've done this job a number of times on my Trailblazer. I've also seen any number of related YT instructional videos. Yours is the most thorough regarding cleaning, corrosion protection and thread-locking. Thank you.
I'm a shade tree DIY guy for my own vehicles and I commend you for wanting to open up the relay casing to see what's going on inside. I had a bad relay in my Mazda, and I had the same thought, thankfully I was able to open up the relay and clean the gunk and put it back together. Popped it back into the car and works great. Saved me $25. 👍😁
"if you live in California or Texas or were never in the Navy you may have never seen a needle scaler..."
I think Harbor Freight is based in CA and they sell them for under $30.
in Texas we use a needle scaler for removing slag from welds and to bust dried concrete of fasteners.
used them plenty in submarine bilges...
Used them on a Navy Cruiser back in 1969. We stripped and replaced the flight deck non skid material.
@Dave Iaucco as is everything else.
Nice job! I, too , am shocked that it came apart so easily! I"m in New England, and nothing that age dismantles THAT easy!
Love the "click" of the "torque wrench" 😂😂😂😂
Its the SMA device.
Has become quite common by experienced mechanics these days and scares the hell out of YT pet ants.
@J0e T The SMA device has 1 click ONLY.
My wrist popping
he cuts that sound in. lol
and if a customer is close by I make the sound with my mouth. (click-click)
I spend all day at work fixing cars then come home and watch Wes ...... fixing cars. I must be broken
I do that same thing. Sometimes I watch people work on things while I'm working on things.
I like the fact that you analyze and solve the problem and not just hang parts on it till the problem goes away. You could have had an easy brake job but you let the customer get the full wear out of the pads. Hats off to you for not over selling!!
That little light you got there is about one of the best Harbor Freight investments I’ve ever purchased! Love that little rechargeable magnetic light!
Checking past videos to catch up.
As a retired maintenance manager I enjoy watching your thought process as you investigate and troubleshoot the problems.
Keep talking.
Be safe
Be happy
Take care
I own 07 trailblazer wheel hubs are notorious for that truck. I replaced mine twice on both sides. Go ahead and replace the passenger side as well because it's going too make no ice in 6 months or so. Good job wes! I also live in Chicago
they look very undersized for that size truck
the life span of all of the steering /suspension parts is horrible.
I do appreciate the open opportunity to subscribe without you mentioning it every video like so many other people do. I dont feel pressured or annoyed lol. But I subbed a long time ago and yes I'm going to add mrs wes cuz yall are funny
I am honestly blessed. I replaced both hubs on my old Chevy, we don’t have the rust so I literally unbolted pulled out a put new on. I watch you and J.C. And see all the rust y’all deal with
Solid troubleshooting and resolution...love the walk-in diagnosis by Mrs Wes....change the bulbs. Followed by the CZcams Channel promotion. You are a good husband.
Always a pleasure to watch you work. I respect how thorough your repairs and explanations are. Thanks for the content. (also your comment about the sound of a hernia had me holding in one of my own)
Yep, I've been there!
Wes good sir, you are a true craftsman and i enjoy watching every video you put up.
Don't usually comment but great channel. I'm learning alot. Admire your logical and methodical problem solving. You're a good teacher.
I really enjoy your videos. I've sharpened my appreciation for engineering watching you fix every day issues.
I'm lucky to be old enough to have had blueprint and schematics reading in shop class and drafting during junior high and high school.
7th Knight of Ni. Maybe if shop class had not been dropped from the curriculum we would have more talented productive millineals like Wes out there rather than unemployed graduates with crushing school loans they signed up for to get those totally useless degrees. Mike Rowe has been right all along.
@@beboboymann3823 Mike Rowe said this exact same this 15 years ago. When Deadliest Catch started getting popular he stated, "College is not necessary for a good career".
7th Knight of Ni. And it’s not for everyone. I read a few months back that Walmart was desperate for Class A commercial fleet drivers. They stated pay ranges up to $90,000 dollars a year. What’s it cost to get the CDL training? I don’t know but I would say between $3-5,000? Lot better than a hundred grand at some cancel culture commie university.
@@beboboymann3823 shit, even if the CDL was $10,000 it would still be worth it in the long run.
I have fought with hub assemblies so many times, thank you for that rotation trick!
"We don't patronize our viewers. We don't beg them to subscribe." If only everyone on CZcams showed this level of humility...
I've been watching a while now and can't pick fault. Nice work sir.
Absolutely subscribed to support Mrs Wes.
As they say, better late than never. You did a wonderful job and great commentary. I love your videos, all of them. Keep them coming.
I see somebody already beat me to the BWD comment. Broke When Delivered. lol. And the hernia "click" was priceless! Great job Wes.
I came for automotive repair, I learned a new word. Pedant. Well done Wes.
I used to occasionally run/maintain a KiaTurn cnc lathe, and let me tell you, the manuals for that thing were a trip. Especially the parts referencing the Fanuc controller, which seemed to have been translated from Japanese to Korean to English by someone who spoke none of those languages.
I've seen it too. The best are the schematics where they translate the title block, but all the annotations are just Japanese characters.
The bolt-in bearings are so much easier to remove and install rather than press in and screwing around with the races and preload. Only downside is some of them don't come with the abs wheel speed sensor. They get destroyed alot when you try and remove them so it was nice the new hub came with one. The relay swap trick is one I always use to check them quick when you have 'like' ones to check it with. Great video bro!.
Always interesting to watch you figure this stuff out👍
Rust inhibitor on the knuckle is a great idea. ive always put neversieze on it and the few times ive had it apart for balljoints or axle u joints it sure made my life easier the next time
I'm trying the rust inhibitor to see how it holds up. I don't think it's going to work as well as anti-seize, but it's a lot less mess!
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy approved ! that was good info Wes
Decided to subscribe today. I have caught a couple of your videos previously and decided to came back after watching Mustie1 this morning. Thought you might like to know.
Always a pleasure to watch 🇬🇧
At 4:55 est she has over 500 subs and still no contact! A lot of people must love you man!!!
I am really enjoying u r videos, the way u explain the stuff u work on. Please keep the videos coming
Mrs. Wes has almost 700 subscribers now! That's great! This morning she was a little over 100 when I subscribe. Now let's see some videos!
Wow what a Great Guy And Mechanic. A True great Job Todays guys just don't have the will to eork like you. Thanks
@Mrs Wes you could have a channel "Watching Watch Wes Work" where you do behind the scenes and generally poke fun at West. I'm sure we'll all enjoy it very much. Mr Wes, good stuff! I've seen very few relays fail in comparison to other problems. I appreciate you sharing.
You are so darn interesting to watch and listen too. And you really know what you’re doing. Come put my brake shoes on my 1987 GMC truck, never did one so wish me luck. Thank you....Mike
Well Wes as Mrs Wes onesided declared a competition i should come up with something special but you don't need worry too much as i am siding with you in this matter✌ ... it was a pleasure to watch you work Wes🛠 ... as always.👍🙂
At least someone is on my side!
I live in Socal, but spent many hours in the bilge of a submarine with a needle gun back in the 90s and 00s
That air hammer idea is good. I changed one on my Chevy HHR and if I knew what you showed it would have been easier to change.
Another job well done Wes. Cheers from South Australia
Really good video, (kept it clean). I think, from watching your vids, you get a lot of your skill from being trained as a machine tool service guy. Because of my many years in that business, I recognize the traits. The guys that I know used the same type of humor, also.I was a tool & die guy before I got into the sales end of that business. Loved it, even the travel part.
Yeah, that's mostly how I became so jaded...
Dude, you make a hard job look easy. Sign of a pro.
“... drive the pedants crazy.” Wes freaks me out on several levels.
Only two CZcamsrs I get excited about when they release a new video, Yours and mustie’s 👍🏻
My dad had a two “click” his calibrated elbow!! Nice job of explaining everything.
The Needle scaler is used near the coast quite a bit in California due to the salt water climate. It also does wonders on ship hulls to clean barnacles.
Another great vid from Mr. Wes.
If you've ever spent a month in the U.S. Coast Guard as a non Aviation non rate there's definitely a serious chance you've had an up close and personal relationship with a needle gun.
Thankfully, I was an AD3 Aviation Machinist Mate.
Never got near one but I sure heard some horror stories.
They'd even use them to chip inches of ice off Cutters and other boats, docks and such.
Before I put my Chevron on ass AN I did have to chip ice outta the 60 foot tall wooden WW II era hanger doors up at Airstation Traverse City Michigan.
Ooh joy.
Yup, even after I did put it on I still had to do it after the blizzard of 1978.
We got 16 foot snowdrifts against those doors.
Took two days to clear them.
All hands on deck.
I really enjoy this, thanks for putting yourself out there.
Living in Wisconsin and having replaced wheel bearings... yeah, that thing came off about as easy as they come around here, nice job!
Excellent work man keep up the good work I love the way you do stuff
Thank for sharing your knowledge Wes always very interesting
Ah, nothing like the warm soothing glow of a hazy incandescent low beam.
👍Lesson learned after installing 2 cheap hub bearing ass’y on wife’s 07 Trailblazer 2wh drive.…. Don’t go cheap! Only lasted 10k miles. I’ve never replaced the locking nuts and always use a torque wrench as the ROAR is disheartening to hear! Good stuff sir Wes👍
My '04 Bravada had very similar headlight problems (they would sometimes randomly go off and then come back on). I didn't know about the TSB so ended up purchasing my new relay (it was a tad over 40 dollars, wow). My old relay, if scrutinized, barely looked slightly bulging (thinking it over-heated over time, then failed). I didn't do the shown diagnosis, merely swapped high beam with low beam relay until the replacement was installed.
Hi Wes, new subscriber here. Great diagnostics, calm relaxing delivery.
I just wanted to point out that there are free screen recorders that work pretty well. OBS (aka Open Broadcaster Software obsproject.com/) can record all manner of windows, screens, etc. It was originally meant to livestream to CZcams but it also records screens (and audio if desired) just fine.
The Needle scaler is one of my favorite tools. I like them all but I have a soft spot for the needle scaler.
Another thorough job well done.
You are very good
did such a great job on the brakes and the sons vehicle , thought you may just as well do the rest of what's needing attention
I used a needle scaler for 40 years welding. Sometimes you could anneal welding as-to crystal cracking after welding. Really good Chicago Pnuematics scalers they hit so hard it dented the weld, which was perfect for annealing.
Good work as always @Watch Wes Work
Hey muggle keep up the good work and tell that Hufflepuff to show her woodworking.
So funny seems like every time I have a vehicle come in with an issue you make a video of almost the same issue. I just had a 2008 Dodge Caravan come in that the headlights would shut off by themselves but long story short it ended up being the TIPM. And you are watching to much South Main Auto spraying that sheep dip on everything lol
Wes ive learned alot from u great content on your videos to help on my 79ford with a cummings i jammed in it
Hi Wes. The ghost of the squirrel Lol. I waited late last night to catch your video,Had to go to bed. Tell Mrs Wes I subscribed. Has always,I liked, shared. All my best.
Will do
Mrs Wes is catching up quick 102 subs... Think how many subs she'd have if she uploaded some content...🤣🤣🤣
Great video, as always, Wes
I am leaving Wes for his wife.
@@lostintime8651 😂😂😂😂
I've had those relays go bad and cause the headlights to come on and off at all hours of the day and night. Freaked out the customer. She thought her car was possessed!!! LOL!!
Since both relays had the same number I would have just switched relays, but that being said I am kinda lazy that way lol. Great Job Wes.
Wish you do more videos i enjoy all your videos
Nice work Wes.
Good job wes great content as always mate 👍take care
Oh snap! The Mrs. is down for a challenge 😝
*knock on wood*
I'm glad I haven't had any weird problems with my 08 TrailBlazer. But if I do, I'll just come watch your videos!
Nice job on the repair.
I always learn from you.......Thanks
Oh my gosh I was trying to get to the Scotty Kilmer channel and ended up here 😄😄😄
Great video Wes
I always switch relays first. Then measure. Saves lots of time.
Thanks Wes time to throw a shout out to Mrs Wes on her channel. Lets let her feel wanted she is a good person.
Hi, Mrs Wes , we are in!!!!!
Are you in need for help? You blinked SOS… ;-)
Always fun to watch. And yes im subscribing to mrs wes
i have fought many of those wheel bearings....to see one come out that easy makes me think a guy should go buy a lottery ticket!
I know. I was ready for a fight. I had a 10 lb slide hammer, the air hammer, even had my ear muffs on because I figured it would be 30 minutes of hammering!
When I changed the front bearing in my 02 TB I also used Moog turns out I had trouble with one of the wheel speed sensor. I just put the old one back on.
I enjoy your content.
Imagine that,a bad hub.
On my 3rd set each,02 Yukon 270k (needs drive shafts badly too) and 03 Envoy 150k.
Next kick-in-the-but will prob. be...should I have used Timken?
Unbelievably? I have replaced every wheel bearing in every car I and/or ex gf or wife ever owned, foreign and domestic since 1983.
One of your more simpler jobs that most diy-ers should be able to handle and you do the little 'extras' for the future.
THAT, is the good and proper lesson you show to be learned here IMO. Once again,a fine job Wes.🤴
Seems like the Ford bearings hold up a little better. The OEM GM bearing is close to $400.
@@WatchWesWork Friend of mine owns a small shop, tells me he does a lot of business replacing GM hubs, doesn't use or recommend OEM unless customer insists.🤷♂️
Great tip on how to remove the hub from the knuckle .
New subscriber love the content
Good skills and nice video
Awesome work. Love the process of elimination. Hey put a link for Ms Wes channel, love wood working too.
It’s a Chevy, it will never go away!!!
Great job 👏
Great job always interesting, thanks.
Wes i love your videos enjoyed all of them up to date keep them coming but you mentioned that California and Texas you might not have to use a needle scaler i hate to disappoint you but i have worked as a diesel heavy construction equipment mechanic for over 30 years now and along the gulf coast any type of vehicle you are going to have salt water corrosion now not as bad as road salt from the northern US or east coast or west coast but it's there and yes a needle scaler is a wonderful tool for this type of situation thank you for your time and effort making those videos truly Ed James
I never thought about the ocean. I have never lived anywhere coastal.
Watching yall work on rusty stuff up north makes me not mind the humidity of the south so bad. You got to really neglect a vehicle to get them to rust that bad down here.
WES.. if you still have the trail blazer.. @2:33 there are 3 connectors on the forward side of the fuse box. the bolt holding the cable down from the battery.. a stud in the middle probably to the alternator.. and a stud n the left.. can you do me a 15 cent favor.. put a Flange nut on the far left stud.. it has a stud sticking up thru the backing plate.. and going thru a ring terminal that feeds some of the fuses in the fuse box. don't believe me.. when you get the headlights fixed... run a voltage drop test with as much stuff on as you can get... between the bare 6mm stud and the ring terminal around it going into the fuse box.. voltage drop should be 0.00 Vdc. 98 and 99 S10 pickups have the same issue.. a missing flange nut..
Interesting. I sent it home, but it will be back for front brakes at some point. I'll make a note.
