- The coil pot technique is very versatile. It doesn't have to be confined to making vases and bowls, clay coils can also be a handy way to make feature pieces with molded details.
In this video, I show you how I make a coil pot clay rabbit. Using the coil technique for the rabbit's body and lid. And hand molding the head and other details.
You just helped me get an A in my potter class; I'm doing a horse's head and this helped me know EXACTLY what to do!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for this EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! This was amazing!
That's great Monica, I'm so happy for your A!
I love the idea of the ears being part of the lid. This would make a brilliant biscuit jar. ❤️
Love how you made the ears functional as lid handle 🐰
Thank you - I'm glad you like it!
Would like to see the finished, glazed piece. So cute.
sorry, I posted the video before I'd glazed it. I try to include glazed pieces in my videos these days, as it's nice to see the finished results. I'm glad you liked this one anyway :)
Beautiful work, so neat and precise. Some lovely tips, like wrapping smaller parts in plastic to slow drying.
This was very helpful for a beginner on how to coil clay sculptures.
So lovely and relaxing watching your tutorial. You made it look so easy but I could tell it was well thought through and lots of moulding skills for such simple forms especially the ears. Thank you. This makes me want to have a go at making a coil rabbit.
You are so welcome!
Love it, thanks
Great video, lovely voice and good camera work. 100\100

This is so beautiful!

thank you :)
If you make more animal pottery , please upload the tutorial this was informative
I'm really glad you found it helpful :)
This is wonderful and inspiring video! Appropriately, how many coils did you use to build up prior to adding shorter coils for neck area?
Hi Karen, I actually don't remember! Sorry. I just keep adding coils until it looks about right :)
@@ThePotteryWheel thank you!
Love the little bunny. Thanks for sharing how to do this to a newbie. I have a quick question: why didn’t you do the head as a pinch pot? Wouldn’t it be easier than carve out later? Thank you.
Making the head as a pinch pot would be fine if that feels better for you. And yes, you wouldn't have to carve it out later :)

How do you do the eyes I’m struggling with them
I add simple balls of clay for the eyes, and then model the eyelids around them.
