You works so clean, i'm learning a lot whit your video. 15:40 Can you use the compass directly on the clay?
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.
this simplicity is hard to believe , i love it
The Amaco air dry clay is considered low fire clay
Nice work and beautiful pottery. Here are some tips. Try decorating some using Liquid Salts and Acidic's such as Iodine, Asian Soy Sauce, Raw Lemon or Lime Juice, Sea Water and or Ash & Water mixed with Purple Dye or any colored dye or mixed dyes for that matter.
Her voice is so relaxing
Толково) 👍
Her voice is so calming❤❤
How do you keep your clay so smooth and uniform? When I start working with it, it usually becomes cracked.
I was really questioning the difference between air dry clay and the typical clay you would use since both dry up when being left out, until you said kiln and I quickly remembered that normal clay needs to be fired
L'idée du sac plastique géniale 🙏
Loved it, thank you so much. I’ve just bought coloured slip and can’t wait until I use it. I didn’t think I could use it on a form, only on a slab if rolled clay.
I have thrown away so many left over pieces… now I won’t need to do that anymore… Thank you ❤ New Subbie 🤩🥳
Thanks for subbing!
love these. what are the dyes of the decals made of? I'm trying to see if i can use em in my next mixed media project. would its chemistry work w acrylic based media?
they are underglaze. I'm not sure they would work with acrylics. They need to be fired. Before they are fired, the underglaze is powdery and wipes away very easily. Hope that helps 🙂
Great video! If I am starting with only one clay body, nor fresh out of the bag, how long do I heed to do this for? Until there are no bubbles when I cut it in half?
Yes, just check for bubbles and once they are gone, you are good to go 🙂
I made burnished smoke fired pots on a pottery course 30 years ago and am wondering if this the right thing to apply to leather hard items to burnish for pit firing?
you can burnish or use terra sigillata, both work well with pit firing
great vid, so clear/complete. can u put water in these pots?
no, they are low fire pots and not water tight. Because they have been bisqued, they are ceramic, but the finish is not water tight like a pottery glaze.
i love you
This is completely inconsequential to your lovely teachings and hopefully not terribly inappropriate, but my GOSH you are beautiful! Thank you, currently lying down cause my back can’t do the wheel right now and I’m halfway through a pinch pot and worried I’m tanking it lol! Thanks muchly!
Very nice 👌 Can I use in a tandoor
Do you have to add anything to be able to bake it? Can you bake this in a conventional oven?
Thanks for share. I didn t understad the mane of paper you use. I made this is past with some paper call fired on, but you have to use just a canon ou hp printer becausecthey have iron oxide in tonner....but now is dificult because many priters stop to use iron oxide in tonner.
This video makes that look like fun
amazing!
I love using reclaimed clay. It’s just easier for me to throw.
I've been having this problem too. Thank you for sharing this tip!!
Awesome video! When you’re firing do you need a specific torch to reach the temperature? Also this may seem like a dumb question but is the top hole for ventilation and the bottom one for the torch?
I don't have a wheel but I've used dust before and it always sticks to my hands something awful I can't get it to behave I'm going to have to try the other air-dry Clays cuz I'm always looking for something but there's a clay I like to use is called Premiere have you ever worked with it
I'd guess that making the coils as consistently as you can... without variations in thickness, the more success you'd have. Mine were all wacky!
It seems like a design flaw to have something like that relly on a tab and not some sort of latch, screw, clip, etc Tabs aren't great if they're meant to be snapped on/off alot
Good day! I love your content, very precise in the processes and materials, thank you for giving us your knowledge. Could you tell me how I find in the miracle glow industry? What's his name? Well, thank you! Beautiful work ❣️🇦🇷
I don't know what country you are in, but here is there main website miraclegro.com/en-us/home
Thank you very much for the video!! Can you tell do you use high temperature ball clay, oh low temperature clay? And at what temperature (cone) do you fire a product coated with Terra Sigillata? What kind of clay - high-temperature or low-temperature do you use as a shard under Terra Sigillata?
hello, I wrote this a while ago, I think it will answer your questions, if not let me know :-)
Does the vinyl tablecloth have a flannel backing?
I use cotton backed vinyl. A lot of them have flocking on the back which is wooly. If you can find cotton backed that's better.
Thank you very much for the clear and detailed explanation. Complete with tips and best practices. Learnt far more on Nerikomi from your video than other videos and books. More confident now to give it a try. Excellent work!!
Great to hear!
Wow!!!
Thank you so much for this! I was able to save a hand sculpted whale that I spent 8 hours on! 🥺💖
Thankyou for this I have to make it for my art class ❤️
Can you talk about the hand tools you use? Especially the ones for smoothing and finishing. Love your videos!
Great idea!
Thank you so much for your very informative videos! If you wanted to smooth the outside as well, would you smooth each coil as you add a new one, or would you wait until the entire pot is done and then smooth the outside?
I tend to add a few coils and the smooth as a go along, hope that helps :-)
@@ThePotteryWheel It does help! Thank you!!
You’re the best !!
Give the company a shout out so we know what not to buy
It's a Brent wheel. They are great wheels, it's just the splash pan can be a bit tricky to get on. 🙂
If you spend so much you don’t expect the splash pan to fail though! Thank you. I’ll avoid Brent and will buy from a company who will replace my pan if it’s built so badly it breaks!

How much clay (in weight) do you think you used for the pot prior to adding the neck?
Hi Sarah. I can't remember exactly how much the clay weighed. Maybe 1.5kg, but I can't be sure of that
This vid deserves way more likes!
I found bubble holes on the surface of my finished mold. Any tips on removing, sanding, or filling?! Thank you for your great videos!❤🎉❤
You could try sanding the bubbles out. If you're sanding plaster wear a mask though as the dust is fine. The only issue with sanding and filling is that the surface of the mold may not be that even. Do you have any plaster left to do another one? I wondered if the plaster was old. I've found that if I use old plaster that has absorbed moisture in the container, it can sometimes get bubbles.
She's doing the thing all other pro potters are too skeptical to do. Respect.
I made the vase according to instructions. The two halves were fine BUT when I attached the two halves, I ended up with one side bulging a bit and the other side much flatter. I shall try again. Does anyone know what thickness the rolled slab was for the tall joined vase? x
Hi Anne, was the one that bulged the teardrop shaped vase made from two cones? I'm wondering if the clay was still a bit fresh when you attached them. If the clay is still a bit too wet, it can sag. The slabs for the third taller angular vase were 3mm thick. I hope that helps.
Its a real treat listening to you talk. You have a lovely voice.
'promo sm' 🤘
Lovely. I tried bubble glaze too. Beautiful bowl. Thanks for sharing.
