Six weeks is plenty of time to drop significant body fat, build muscle, and even gain strength if you combine a well-designed training program with a smart nutrition and supplement plan. It doesn't get much smarter than the Shortcut to Shred. The workout, diet, and supplement regimens are based on real science and made for real-world application.
I rely heavily on published nutrition research. To ensure the research is effective outside the lab, I test it on my own physique before delivering it to my clients. With all that data, I am able to create science-backed nutrition plans that deliver stellar results. Shortcut to Shred may be my best program yet.
The Shortcut to Shred nutrition program is built on three distinct phases. Each phase has unique macronutrient nutrient requirements to help you build maximum muscle and torch as much body fat as possible. As Shortcut to Shred progresses, the nutrition plan changes to ensure you recover from your workouts and shred for six solid weeks without a plateau.
MIGHTY MACRONUTRIENTS
The three macronutrients are protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Before we break into the Shortcut to Shred nutrition plan specifics, let me explain what each macronutrient does and why it's important.
ALL-POWERFUL PROTEIN
Protein is the most critical macronutrient on the Shortcut to Shred program. Muscle is made out of protein, which is essential for muscle growth, repair, and recovery. It's also a critical fuel source. Your body can break protein down and use amino acids as a muscular energy source.
Research suggests that high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets work well for fat loss. This is particularly true for those trying to maintain or build lean muscle at the same time.
It is difficult for the body to take protein and convert it into body fat. It's not impossible, but out of the three macronutrients, the body has to work hardest to convert protein into body fat. It's either going to use protein to synthesize tissue, or break it down for energy. Protein is a home run when it comes to dropping body fat, building muscle, and gaining strength.
Anyone who is training intensely needs at least one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Research suggests that eating as much as 1.5 g of protein per pound of bodyweight is very effective at promoting muscle growth and strength gains. You will eat 1.5 g of protein per pound of bodyweight throughout Shortcut to Shred. Research supports this quantity of protein, as do the results of my own clients.
HOW PROTEIN MAKES MUSCLE
The body breaks apart the bonds that bind ingested amino acids together into single amino acids, or short amino acid chains called peptides. These digested amino acids and peptides are then absorbed by the intestines, where they eventually enter the blood stream to travel to your muscles and other cells. In the muscle cells, these amino acids are reassembled to form the protein that makes up muscle fibers. In the end, your muscles grow bigger and becomes stronger.
FAT AND HAPPY
Fat is not the enemy. Eating fat doesn't necessarily make you fat, but certain fats are better than others. Fat is the second-most critical macronutrient in Shortcut to Shred for several reasons.

Probably one of the BEST programs I have followed in my years of training. INSANE results. And Stoppani does not bullshit either, literally everything he said is BASED on legitimate and tested research. No wonder the man has his Ph.D and working on ANOTHER one.
I agree to some extent. I saw abs eating muffins and cereal, lost weight eating rice krispies, white rice, white bread and so on. I also consume 364g of carbs.
Konner Brow
Agreed.
surely one of the most informative diet video I've ever watched. Thanks
9:29 pencil in an egg, lab work.
108KG to 97KG in 2 months 😎
Goal is 80kg
I'm 6'1"
Protein 47%
Carbs 31%
Fats 22%
Daily calorie intake 1950 to 2100
What a trip so many of the commenters callin Stoppani out sayin BRO SCIENCE. Really? The guy has a phd. related to nutrition, has spent most his life pursuing knowledge applicable to building muscle and has probably trained thousands of people. He has probably forgot more than any of us know. That being said I do not use any of his supps. just to expensive for my budget. But his knowledge given freely I totally respect.
sid trumpzilla I agree that his experience and knowledge are extremely valuable! Having said that, he does push certain agendas that have been scientifically debunked for years (I’m talking about the anabolic window, the idea that insulin provides some sort of cellular signaling to spike muscle protein synthesis etc.)...
I’m not saying that i am in any way on the same level as Stoppani, but as a biochemist I routinely stumble over the research that he uses to back himself, and from that you can see that many of his claims are simply false
Just finished this program... I went from 220 to 195... Slated to start over tomorrow morning
Where can we get this program and congrats for the transformation
EXTREMELY Informative
thank U!!!😘
Very Informative video, really appreciate the efforts at your end.
best video ive watched about nutrition.. balance diet it is.. thanks for this vid
Nicely done Jim! Tons of great info
This guy is like a nutrition encyclopedia. Great video. Really insightful!

Background music was too loud and way too much "action" for such a calm individual. The content of what he is saying is more important than the OTT presentation.
That said, this is very much appreciated. I wonder if this diet also applies to those who are in the 60lb+ overweight range or just for bodybuilding cuts, since its only a 6 week program and not a long term diet plan.
im on the longcut to shred! 😬
Great information, results may vary for different individuals.
It worked for me !
All those test tubes and lab environment (and ofcourse thick glasses) made it more convincing X)
Good information though :) Liked!!
love this guy. he should cover fat and hormones and what kind of fat macros are recommended while leaning out
Thanks you helped me alot
Thank you sir you p

Vicky G haaaaaa he do he do guuuuuuuuurl!
I love your videos
Gummy Beats and Pixie Sticks! AWESOME
For anyone who has done this program: any of you got to complete the 6th week and still weren't satisfied with fat loss up until that point? If so did you continue for more weeks?
Please explain do i need to consume the number of macronutrients based on my body weight or my actual lean body mass after subtracting my fat percentage?
nice video..!!
People have so many good points in the comments I shouldn't even watch the video made by the guy with the PHD constantly featured in magazines, both generation irons, and mentors and advises multiple professional bodybuilders and competitors...... everything is just wasted air from your mouth until you try it
Rappfit yah he’s do not qualified ... idiots galore. I’d love to see them call him out in person. They are mentally weak and thus have to speak their negative minds without education on the comment section. In real life they don’t talk.
I like watching these videos eventhough I've got a pretty good handle on my plan... might learn new things and/or clear up some things that maybe you are not totally clear on.
This video is very dense in bro science.
Damn i'm following this program for 2 weeks now and im shredding like crazy. Only problem is i have a 24/7 hard on cause my testosteron is so freaking high.
You're fucking liar
Lex O.o hey, bro, drop a piece of advice, plz. explain me, as you already done the program, how is it possible to lose weight with the given amount of macros? for an average 180lbs guy it has to be about 3000, but I eat that much on my bulk!
Iskandar Umarov then dont eat the 3k because u dont need exactly the amount others need obviously.. maybe eat 200kcal less and see if u shred if not i Think u need to go further or up the cardio thats all no magic lul
I tried this program for a couple weeks and quit. I never had the exploding ENERGY AND FOCUS to do the next set when doing 1 minute cardio in between sets. After doing those cardios in between, I was always exhausted, tired, little out of breath and most importantly out of focus and strength. I much rather doing cardio some other time in the day or save it for the weekend. Cheers.
Alper Can Were you fit? Cos if you were fat and no muscle then anything you do you'd find difficult
You must do crossfit
I've already done this program twice and it has crazy shredded me. It does make me feel depleted if I don't eat right. It might not be for everyone.
Do you count cals and how much I'm I aloud a day to lose fat build muscle?
Hello great video thank you I will follow you closely :))
very informative good stuff...Im getting back on the diet...I followed a similar diet but have been off of it for past 2 months ...basically it was eating like a pro boxer....lean chicken breast....plenty of greens....oatmeal....fruit....and fats....I lost about 38 lbs....and I am currently in maintenance havent gained a lot of weight back.
How do i bump the carbs back up after the program?
tried this program nd thr bodybuilding program nd I'm looking way shredded! only took me 2 months....thanks bodybuilding! changing my life

Omfg lmao I've been feeling it this whole time but I couldn't make the connection, thank you
KAI GREENE coach says don't take carbs after workout in post workout. Take it after 1 hour.
Arn’t carbs also important? Especially for ATP?
Dear Dr. Stopanni, I am politely asking whether or not I should eat sugar in order to lose weight and build muscle. I am literally confused because as far as I know, sugar should be avoided as much as posible in any nutrition program. So what's the truth behind this issue? Thanks!
Hi, I'm 300 lbs. Should I take 300 grams of protein and carbs per day at 1 gram per body weight?
The traditional gummy bear is made from a mixture of sugar, glucose syrup, starch, flavoring, food coloring, citric acid, and gelatin. The "table sugar" or "granulated sugar" most customarily used as food is sucrose, a disaccharide of glucose and fructose. So gummy bears contain fructose, right?
I am hoping someone can answer this. My calories are alot lower as I am a female. How do I adjust the macros. I can do 1.1-1.2 grams of protein and i can do the .5 of fat but the 1.5 grams of carbs would bring me to over 2000 calories
Good info however the background music really detracts from it. Please re-edit this video minus the noisy music in the background and re-upload. Thanks!
Is 1g per pound per body weight counted as per day? Or per meal?
Good video- but missing one very essential thing. It's not all macronutrient, there are several, several, scientifically sound studies that show the importance and value of micronutrients such as phytonutrients and minerals. Carbohydrates like fruits and veggies are loaded with phytonutrients that science is now beginning to understand the impact of on longevity, health and prevention of disease. So, so, so important. An example of this is the studies, demonstrating the impact of beets with increasing the production of nitric oxide and improving blood flow for strength and endurance training. Pubmed the clinical literature on this fact. Now that's a natural supplement for you..
According to Mark Tarnopolsky, M.D., Ph.D., who studies exercise and nutrition at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, HIGHLY TRAINED ATHLETES thrive on 0.77 gram of daily protein per pound of body weight. That's 139 grams for a 180-pound man.
DID THIS DUDE JUST TELL ME TO GO EACH GUMMY BEARS. LORD HELP ME ... I MIGHT'VE FOUND JESUS!
So when talking about the post gummy bears. How much should you eat, the whole bag?
Genius!!! love Jim, he's always showing up all these other wannabe nutrition specialists! keep it up!
Slow motion video?
Hello Respected sir
How much gummy bear takes with post work out shake (Quantities in gram)
Was it mentioned how many g of fat per day. Assuming balancing the saturated, mono and poly
+Janet Jones yep, he said .5 g per pound of bodyweight
how should i suposed to eat proteins>fats>carbohydrates if i should only eat 1.5 to 2 gramms of protein per kilogramm??!
grams per pound not kg
Jonas _- 1,5g/lb = 3g/kg
When he says 1.5 gm of protein per pound of weight. Is that per meal? Ie, if you weigh 200 lbs you should be having 200gms of protein per meal?
+Astro201281 1.5g of protein is your total daily intake. if you are 200 lbs will have to take 300g of protein per day not per meal, that will too much of food.
200g protein it is like about 7-9 small boneless skinless chicken breast, I dont think not many of us can eat that much of meal in one meal.
What about being vegetarian? Can you still do high protein?
yow man this is some great information thanks for the good quality content
Why this dude in the lab acting like he's discovering new cells
Its a video dude.
Nicolas Robert Guerrieri Because he is actually a licensed Doctor! Make your research!
LOL fr though
Hes not a medical doctor do your research
@@enriquefidler1813 nobody said he's a medical doctor lol
Logically presented information with an air of authority. However the intro is way too long, the music is too dominating, and the pacing is too slow... I think most viewers of similar CZcams videos want to get to the point and do not expect theatrics or a multi media experience. Get us in, load us up, and get us out.
You know how old fashioned Jim is when discussing carbohydrates not being essential
Roughly how many grams of fat should I aim for if im roughly a body weight of 75kg??
Psun 1,020,000 grams of protein a day
Might as well placed a link to send you donations, ask for patrons, and for money.
Gummy bears help build muscle, that's awesome!!!! I gotta buy a bunch of em :o)
what'd you mean by high protein and low carbs? I'm weight 180lbs and I should take in 170-180g of protein per day, then how should I do to the carbs, very low? 150grams? And high fat in order to get daily calories?
Bruh, no if your bodybuilding you need WAYYYY more carbs then 150 for your weight, like closer to 300 I'm 150 and I need 244g
+Dalton hamilton Not on a cut lol. I'm 210 and cut on 235g pf carbs rn and I've grown a bit of muscle even though I've been lifting with good nutrition and intensity for 3 years
+Raymundo Vega my bad didn't see he was on a cut was talking bout bulking😂
How do you get enough fiber with so little carbs?
leafy greens and fruit
I fast for 22-24 hours a day and eat low carb and I’m in the gym 3-4 days a week and can’t get rid of this last layer of fat on my belly . WTF!
can u make a video about getting rid of muffin top?
You can't spot reduce, the only way to get rid of a muffin top is to lose your overall body fat as a whole, then eventually the muffin top will disappear--either quickly or slowly--depending on where the fat is concentrated on your body.
For a second... I thought it was Jonny Sins in the thumbnail xD
the thumbnail is a hand cutting some chicken...
They changed it I guess
Seeing at the comments below I cant understand why dont people respect knowledge?
The underlying idea is in there. It's just populated with a lot of unnecessary information. You just have to do research and figure out what the basics you really need are.
What's with Americans and metric system. It's easier to relate as gram to per kg rather than gram per pound.
i will come back here after six weeks now. ;)
how is it going mate? Be honest with me please
its really effective. i will not lie i reduced 3kgs body fat in 30 days. Make sure you do accelerated cardio in between every set. In beginning its hard but after few days you are on it. :)
+rosh wow that's awesome. congratulations! ... I didnt noticed but this training is all with weights and I cant afford a gym membership and I dont have any weights/benchs etc etc ... I though it was body weight training ( calisthenics) , it's a shame xD
Jim I want to hear what you are saying! Less music and more you, I am struggling to hear you over the techno, maybe due to being a metal guy but maybe up your volume or lower the music mix please?
its critical guys :'D
What can I eat instead of eggs because of allergy
the chicken
Steaks and gummy bears? Sign me right up!
This nerd is a fucking beast
Very helpful, I've learned new facts about nutrition, thank you and keep up the good work!
Why is he lighting gummy bears on fire?
He is Dwyane Johnson rock Consultant
You should have showed up for casting of The Watchmen, they could have used a beguiling tattooed doctor type.
😂he’s in a science lab all this must be true
Jym army baby
lol the broscience is strong with this one
ikr bro :/
we should get 1.5-2 grams of protein daily per lb of bodyweight
lets not forget about the Gummy thing which is more than enough to Close the video
Humam Slayer yeah this guys an idiot. Hes just doing this to promote bodybuilding.com
bodybuilding.com
Do you realise that many professional bodybuilders buy dextrose in powder form and drink it immediately after the workout for a very same reasons that were explained in the video? There was about 0% of "bro-science" in this video.
Elaborate on that, please.
Is there a diabetic version??
depending on your situation, this may actually improve it. I'm no doctor of course, but I have done research on how this improves insulin sensitivity. Then again, it depends on your health situation and body fat levels.
Thank you, my trainer mortified it for me and it works great.
woow!
This prоduсt is аwesome. I gained wаy mоre musсlе mass аnd rеduсеd bоdу fat fаstеr thаn аnу оther protein supрlеmеnt I've triеd before in thе рast => twitter.com/780f6be3d4f0834e1/status/742668391975096320 Nutritiоn Оvеrviеw Jim Stоpрpani s Shortсut tо Shrеd Тraining Progrаam

It wasn't mentioned but tuna is great and it does contain omega.
+MrDcofjapan he did mention tuna, and said if you can get the alberstuff
All the guys in this comment section acting like they Know more than someone that has a PHD 😂😂😂
Having those gummy bears melt down is the weirdest thing I've seen in a bodybuilding video.
