I Let a Celebrity Stylist Choose My Outfit for Beautycon!

  • A personal stylist picks my outfits and I and do a plus size designer clothing try on! I've tried a nordstroms stylist before, but never a celebrity stylist like this! For beautycon 2019 I had professional stylist go luxury shopping and find designer clothes to dress my size 14 body, had a makeup artist glam me up, but in the end I left beautycon feeling really down on myself after all the drama and how poorly I was treated. I am so proud of who I am and the content I create online, and no one can take that from me.

    Watching this video hurt, seeing you so effervescent and seeing an event just obliterate your confidence made me so upset and angry.. you are an incredible BEAUTIFUL creator and you are so deserving. I’ve been a CZcamsr for 10+ years, and while I only dabble in the beauty realm (I’m primarily a musician) I have friends who are full time beauty creators. Most of them have shared with me that they too have rarely or even never felt embraced or felt comfortable in the beauty community. I always feel uncomfortable at beauty events. Partly because of my own personal issues and insecurities, but also partly in how I was treated sometimes. I’ve had wonderful experiences meeting some people, but yes many others have made me feel less than. My friends in the community vary in brand style, body type, and their message, but overall I personally just wish to see more joy and warmth from the community. There’s a vibe of competition where I wish there was support. But I think the more people stand up and stand for something else, like you, building your amazing community, the more the tide will turn! Sending you so much love, and I hope I get to meet you someday! I enjoy your videos so much! ❤️

    I liked the off white but for like a night time event. Beautycon I think of white or floral clean and crisp. But I thought it was beautiful just a lil too night time and hot looking for a warm day time event. The first blazer you tried with a see through skirt similar to the top you had on here would have been the ticket for me. You seem so confident naturally so most importantly remember to always wear that confidence before anything else. If anyone has a problem with you then it’s their problem not yours.

    As a subculture-y person, lemme just say that "I feel like I dont fit in, so maybe if I dress like them, I'll fit in/they'll accept me" never works out. It's almost always better to dress and present the way you want, to let that confidence come from yourself rather than how people treat you. People who treat other people poorly will do so no matter how they're dressed. and all that is not to say "don't try things out of your comfort zone, dont got to a stylist etc. etc." because trying new things is how you find out what you like. It's just that you should do things because you genuinely want to, not because you want people to treat you well. They should treat you well no matter how you look, no matter where you are, and if they don't that's on them. That's their problem, and it WILL cause them issues in the future.
    Like, when I had my phase for a year-two years of dressing more like other people, I didn't feel as good as when I dress for myself. When I dress for myself, I feel like a badass and I walk like a badass. People whisper(loudly) to their friends about how cool my outfits are. One time, a girl literally screamed at her friend because she loved my hair.

      I kinda see the reasoning for keeping them hidden. It's entirely possible that some of the interaction was a result of misunderstanding, like for instance the people in the cart might not have been aware that they were being taken out of order, and it's possible the laughter was at something else. I think we all know it seems likely that mockery happened, but at the same time, I think it's very professional and responsible of Sierra to keep the footage anonymized so that a whole lot of cancel-culture hate doesn't go out over something that isn't necessarily really confirmed.

    • @kool-aid_man160

      Because it's Beautycon and she looked a hot mess. Nothing to do with size, that was NOT the outfit or makeup for her. At all. The fact someone who supposedly works as a professional stylist put her in this is so sad to me. Almost like she was turning her into a joke. It's sad. Not saying anyone should be treated poorly - not at all - just saying she is assuming it's about size and in this case, I think it was more about looking awful. She's a gorgeous girl and this makes her look like someone who doesn't know about the beauty industry, which isn't something a beauty convention welcomes, rightly or wrongly.

    • @duck6100
      @duck6100 Před rokem

      @@elisa9992 I agree but actually, fun fact: mom jeans weren't originally called that. They earned their name because the young people who originally wore the style in the 80s became moms and just continued to wear them. So technically mom jeans are jeans that moms wear.

    • @duck6100
      @duck6100 Před rokem

      @@elisa9992 yeah haha obviously the name didn't come from every mom ever wearing the jeans 😭. The jeans were first popular in the 80s and young people then would wear them. Those same people became moms and lots of them continued to wear the jeans hence they became known as mom jeans. So what I was saying is that mom jeans aren't just jeans that young people wear since they were popularised in millennials by older women wearing them. These women will be in their 40s/50s now. I don't know if they still wear them but like I'm not giving you my opinion, I'm telling you the fact about how they got their name.
      Important to consider is the fact that mom jeans aren't really trendy anymore, they reached their peak re-popularity in the mid-2010s. You don't really see many people in them anymore apart from older millenials so I imagine the older women who wore them first also grew out of the style after a while and that's why you haven't seen many of them. Also it will depend on where you live and how fashion forward the place is. I distinctly remember a time in my life when older women (I say older but there were only in their 30s) would exclusively wear those jeans but I'm from a fairly big city.

    I’ve recently lost a lot of weight and honestly, the thing that has shocked me the most is the difference in how I am being treated by other people. Why do others deem me more worthy of respect and attention now? It makes me really sad because I was just as kind, funny, cute before. And you are so wonderful. @ellag5151 Před 5 lety +18

      I know how you feel. I put on weight recently and am losing it again and people do really treat me differently. I felt invisible overweight but when I’m in shape, it’s the opposite and people notice me. I think it’s partly because people are superficial and partly because when you eat healthy and exercise, you show the world that you love and take care of yourself. Whereas when you’re out of shape and overweight, it shows the world the opposite. I think we just subconsciously must pick up on that and thus treat people who love and care for themselves with more respect then those who clearly don’t have the same will power and work ethic. It’s sad though because you don’t know what someone is going through in life that is causing them to neglect themselves. I think that weight problems can be more of an emotional/mental obstacle than a physical one.

Dressing rooms have always been bittersweet for me, and you have help me with not having breakdown crying episodes in dressing rooms when items do not fit. You make a difference in girls everyday life and thank you for being you.

    Boycott beautycon 👍🏻
    Also don’t censor and blur the people who laughed at you, expose them for the rats they are especially if they’re also influencers

      I think it was extremely presumptuous to assume the group was laughing at Sierra. Such a frenzy over nonsense. At some point, they just became victims and were looking for any slights against them. They both should have skipped the event and gone shopping. The "beauty community" in this case is oxymoronic

      Khristina Barker that’s why we need to see the full scene unblurred

      @@leen4093 The group was having a good time in their cart, and they were not engaging Sierra. I think it's safer to say that Sierra was already upset, and the group driving by laughing was just ill-timed. Whatever the case, she should have walked her ass past them with confidence.

    Watching the last part broke my heart and resonated with me! I’m not a plus size woman but I often felt as an outsider. I have acne scars so even when I’m wearing makeup people especially at Sephora give me stares. I’m so happy I found your channel because seeing you and how you reacted to the situation gives me confidence than I’m more than enough!

    I feel like that dress would have been better suited for a winter event. IMO all-velvet dresses are normally for fall/winter, especially in that dark blue color.

      I agree that velvet does seem to be an out-of-season choice. I would have preferred the floral maxi (tailored, of course). HOWEVER she still looked fashionable. Nothing that she wore warranted such disrespectful treatment. (Although no one should be treated like that, no matter the clothing!!)

Really grateful that you are so open and willing to be vulnerable and share your experience with the youtube community. Please continue to share your truth- you're a great beautuber and so many people are so lucky to grow up with an inspiration like you. Keep spreading that message and loving yourself!
