Thanks so much for a great side-by-side comparison of so many interfaces. I appreciate the clear and efficient explanations to wrap my head around what can sometimes be daunting technical information.
Awesome! Very helpful comparison. I never really thought about the necessity of having an interface with loop back - now I know that's really what I want! Thanx a lot for helping us folks to make the right decision!
I just ordered my EVO so I was hoping that this one would be the recommendation… and it was. Great video!
Thank you for your review. You helped me out with my podcast venture.
I just switched from Scarlett to Volt 2 and I'm not disappointed.

Thank you. I was looking at an Evo 4 to use with my iPhone while mobile…. This helps.
I got the actual loopback program it has been a game changer and I have a basic presonus interface crazy combo
MOTU M2 user here... Fantastic unit. Also under 200 and has loopback. The meters are amazingly good.
Gonna be checking that one out soon
@@Johnmike Please sir, what is the solution to the crackling and hissing of the Motu M2 interface? Many have complained about it despite changing the cable, but it is still there.. I am really sad despite its excellent quality. Please help me find the fault 💔😢
I have a MiniFuse 2 and I love it. I think all of them are great for the price point, at the end it's just personal preference.
Thanks man!
Like the information shared Thank You.
Nice overview. I did want to note that the Arturia MiniFuse 2 has a stereo loopback channel (as does the MiniFuse 1).
Thanks Chip. This is very helpful. I am looking to purchase an audio interface. I am from South Africa and the pricing of these interfaces is very different over here. The Minifuse is about half the price of the others so considering that it does have loopback I think that will be the option that I go for.
@@JustinDAMusic I decided on the MiniFuse 4 and it is excellent. Based on my experience, I would recommend any of the MiniFuse models. And the loopback feature works very well.
I've been using the FocusRite 2i2 for years, but it just died on me. I think the USB C port died so it'd be an easy fix. Have actually been using my Zoom Podtalk P4 plugged in as a stop gap solution and it works well, just need to remember to turn it on every morning before I hop in meetings. It doesn't sound any different than when using portable powered by batteries, but doesn't do any unjustice to my RE20.
But just popped on to see your review after buying the Volt 2 and I'm pretty excited. I liked the Air mode of the Scarlett, but the Vintage mode does sound more like a traditional broadcast, which is perfect for all my use cases. Legit just arrived from UPS while I was typing this. Good video dude, def subscribing for more.
🙏🏾
Thanks
The volt has the ability to be powered externally (5volt dc) not just over usb which for me is great as I mostly use my old iPad which lacks the power, it only has a lightning port. Great for iOS music, sound quality sound really good, what’s putting me off it is long run durability. Makes the choice easier for me though.
I had the ssl 2+ for my desktop set up but sold it because of a financial struggle, best sound quality I’d ever used. I can vouch for the ssl if you have 200 € or more to spend.
Cool comparison! Well, I‘ve purchased the Volt 1 (which by the way has also got USB-C) this Monday, because I need it with MIDI in/out and it was offered for a good price (€ 115.-), otherwise it would have been the EVO!
Wow … Preamps make a big difference … Loved the Volt, but it is a bit overdone and Vintage adds trebly sibilance. Scarlett seemed quiet and lacking in focus, right? 😂
Great comparison. Thanks man. I need to think again about my imminent audio interface purchase!
What about playback on speakers which one has fulluer louder sound? I had Evo but gave up on it because of low volume and the moment I use headphones the speakers would mute I know it's a feature.
the arturia no doubt
What audio interface would you recommend for music producers?
Thanks for review but no apogee products?
im a music producer - bea maker and singer and i want to know what is the best option in this sound cards ? help me with that
Hi, some of the specific personal experience I've had with this VOLT 276 and my new WORK STATION PC3K8: 1) I can't load SOFT BONDEL, the system won't recognize my PIN and IUSER ID. I just get empty and stupid E-Mails from UA that urge me to be patient... This is exactly why I had to turn to CAKEWALK. And then surprises awaited me! I connected my Work Station via AUX to both universal inputs and via USB to the PC. Result: You can even record MIDI, but you can listen to AUDIO, but you can’t record: only noises and a stupid metronome (with distortion) go. MIDI quality is also low. I'm not getting high yet, but just wasting time looking for problems and waiting for a response from UA.
Curious about id4 mk2 vs minifuse
Is presonus io24 good for recording vocal im singer. greating from serbia
Which one has the best sound qualiry, thats all i want to know
My No.1 consideration. Is SOUND … Which one give the best sound when recording audio ? 🙏🏽
for me it's between the Focusrite and the UA Volt...but honestly in this price range they are all pretty comparable
All deliver good quality these days but one part you can't easily test is whether they have reliability issues. I have been extremely satisfied with Scarlett 2nd Gen but was about to switch to Audient iD4 based on all the positive reviews. Then I saw on Reddit that a lot of people have problems with sudden deafening digital static that requires a reboot to resolve. A lot of people have returned their units which is why you can always find them B-stock and no step up in features or quality from Focusrite could possibly make up for that in my opinion.
One point to mention about the EVO 4 is that it doesn't have separate volume for speakers and headphones. If you want to work quietly you basically have to disconnect the speakers which is a total deal breaker for me. On iD4 there's a speaker mute function, but then again, I don't dare to buy it after all. Probably just going with Scarlett 3rd gen because I know the operation is rock solid.
Scarlett (solo and 2i2) are the worst value for money interfaces, it doesn't even have loopback and their preamp is way behind their competitors. It looks good, but it just sounds ok for the price and lacks features like loopback. Also note that the 3rd gen is worse than the 2nd gen in terms of headphones output, far behind their competitors (even behind Behringer and their $50 interfaces).
There are also Scarlett users that have issues, faulty units happen everywhere.
@@botzer8817 Show me where Focus Rite has vas vast amounts of reliability issues like Audient? I had M-audio before so when I see general reliability issues like this, I just run. I use LXD-X so it would be silly to rely on any headphone out.
Minifuse provides 250mA max on usb hub port. You can use low power devices but I wouldn't use a portable hdd like you say
The Evo 4 is an excellent interface but don't buy it if you also want the software that comes with it. I couldn't download the Cubase package as Steinberg didn't send me the codes needed to do so but it's not too much of a hardship when you can use another DAW.
I spoke to some other people who were also having the same problems and Steinberg's support is hopeless but the interface itself is great for the price. Very recommended.
Lets see mini midi in/out next version
If I want to do simultaneous multitrack recording directly into my daw on a budget what is the best option? I want each track separate so I can mix down to stereo later. I’m not sure what is all out there. I see they have 4/4 audio interfaces under $250 but then I was wondering if it’s better to get a usb mixer or some other device capable of doing that of which I’m not sure of what’s all out there. I’m mostly looking for just a clean signal with most inputs and output for simultaneous recording.
If you have the budget I’d go with the studiolive 16r
@@Johnmike Thanks! Actually I’m small time now. 😃
I love my Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD USB Audio Interface. Only $110 right now. Great interface at a great price.
Did you find any units struggled to drive the pd-70? I am finding with the io24 you need to set gain to max (60db) to even get close to a full signal. I emailed personus and they said they don’t recommend using pd-70 with anything less than a studio 68c.
Pretty much had to push the volume with all of these
I’m so happy you didn’t include M-Audio’s garbage 2x2 interface. That thing is a snap, crackle, pop nightmare.
Dope…
seems lie the presonus is a clear winner, especially with the current discounts (149$), the most features and sound quality
That arturia pair with and arturia midi controller seem like it would be nice for live gigging.
Exactly what I was thinking
@@lucasdewitartist7406 I have my preorder in for the minifuse 4. Probably won’t be here until October though I’m told. I may try to Velcro it to the bottom of my keystep 37.
I see that the minifuse 4 has 4 outputs and an extra usb connection - awesome! I can see how this will work perfectly for a worship setting, you can use one output for your keys rig, another for click and cues and the other remaining two for stems. So glad you told me about the minifuse 4!
@@lucasdewitartist7406 can you powered a midi controller from the interface's usb hub without it plugged in to power supply? (only plugged in to usb C on pc/mac/ipad).
@@RebornBanochez I bought the minifuse for my church (not the minifuse 4) and it needs a powered hub when plugged into the iPad. The laptop on the other hand gives it sufficient power.
What if all I’d like to do is record my music. Not interested in loop features or even the software. Just want good quality straight ahead recording. I’m not interested in the software either. Thanks 👍🏼
Are you still running the slate raven?
Yup!
What do you think about the Sterling Harmony??
Haven’t checked it yet…I’ll put it on the list
Thanks for answering! Will you recommend the volt 176 for playing live??
У arturia 4 тоже есть loopback
So there really isnt that much difference between all of them. Im getting the Arturia Minifuse 2 since its relatively cheaper when shipped from Japan (around 100 usd).
I’m getting the EVO 8 next week, so I’m like “PLEEEEEASE pick EVO so I can feel good about my decision!” 😂😂😂 Great video bro!
lol dope!
The best is RME then APOGEE & UAD
Best audio interface from $100-$200? RME and Apogee don’t have anything in that price range…closest would be the apogee Jam…and that’s like $179…and doesn’t really fit into this category…
@@Johnmike my RME is 15years old still solid asfuck!!!! Better get something like this that last forever then those plastiky shitty sound interface.. that every now and then you will end up changing it!✌️
@@naizondj dope…glad is still working out for you! The video is about the best interfaces from $100-$200…not “the best interfaces of all time” that would definitely be a different video with a different set of criteria that would need to be met…
@@Johnmike yep! True true… well would need to change it soon but for now still working🙏 prob again RME.. the sound is just amazing bro!!
Would you recommend the 2i2?
Yup!
Doesn't the mini fuse have loop back?
Yup it actually does…didn’t find out until after this video…had to dig into the manual to figure out how to use it
@@Johnmike I am looking for an interface and this seems one of the better options and good value
Does volt 1 require cloudlifter with Shure sm7b?
No
@@Johnmike thanks for information .🙏
Volt & Arturia sounded best, Evo was the worst. Presonus surprising considering all the bad reviews I've read. Motu M2 vs Volt 2 vs Arturia would be the best trio to do a showdown
No MOTU?
Yep, why not the MOTU M2?
the volt is only one channel
I’ll be honest 🤣🤣I’m finna get a presonus interface just to get studio one free
