      @@BFG-rr9cvI still would like to have tangeable (and resellable) items. I don't mind reselling digital licences for a small fee, but I do would like to still have that option. For instance, FFXVI is a nice game, but it's replayability isn't up to standard for me. A disc I can resell, digitally I'm "stuck" with it, in the current state of how it works. FIX that, and then "all digital" will really, REALLY take off.

      Okay so? My point is that a large subset of gamers have been digital only and it was not the end of everything. I cant speak for sonys refund practices. I can only speak to how only digital has been a fine way of game delivery with an easier refund method usually. USUALLY. I think some people hold on to the past too much i understand the want for physical copies but at the same time they are a waste of plastic, space and money spent to manufacture them

    The issue with digital only is that a large part of the US which is their biggest market is lacking decent broadband, with some parts of the country having practically zero access to decent internet. My building for example isn't allowing any service to be hooked up because they're forcing the tenants to use the wifi which is 10mbps. I had to go with T-Mobile home internet to get decent speeds but that's nowhere near fiber.

    The thing about the controller is this: GuliKit have already launched a Controller that is leagues above all others (Hall-effect sticks & triggers, mechanical face buttons, etc) for the same price as a standard Dualshock 4. As soon as they bring out Playstation & X-Box compatible controllers of the same standard, which they are apparently already working on - Sony & Microsoft won't have much of a choice but to step up their controllers. We just might have a future ahead of us where Hall-effect is the standard for Gaming Controllers. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing what GuliKit are cooking up.

      There was a patent for being able to verify ownership of physical discs and convert it to digital for the digital only console.
      There's a couple problems with it though. Someone could buy a physical game, verify it, and then return the game while still keeping digital ownership.
      Also because it's digital, you don't actually own it anymore, so it would still be worth keeping the physical copy. (imagine converting your games to digital, your account gets banned or hacked for some reason, and then your physical disc is unusable because it's already linked to an account you can no longer access).

      I agree, I’m not a fan of the loss of the disc drive. I still buy disc games over digital, and while I understand the push for all digital there’s still ownership issues and game preservation issues I have with it that keep me buying physical copies. I’m really happy with the backwards compatibility on it, and long as it keeps running I’m good with it as is. Sometimes I pick up a new game for it, but usually in store and on sale, since nothing Xbox has put out game-wise has really made me to, “I have to get this and play it day 1!” The size is definitely better then my PS5 for sure and I know some people actually set it up as an emulator, so it definitely has a ton of uses and fans. I've had the play and charge kits and its nice when they go bad you just buy a new one for $30 and don't have to toss the controller as well as you have that option to pop in two AA's if you're on the road or you forgot to charge it and can't for whatever reason.

    Things I’m worried about:
    1. Longevity of all digit support. A console may not be supported as time goes on, and that will also bring way more value to older systems.
    2. SSDs have a certain lifespan, with the current systems having a special key that is used only for the initial storage, it is NOT easy to just swap a dying drive.

  • @mangaas
    @mangaas Před 8 měsíci +4

    Built in battery is not more "sustainable", as once the internal battery is dead, so is the controller's wireless function. Being able to use re-chargable batteries that you can replace is more sustainable. As you get the upside of rechargable, re-usable AA batteries, and a controller that doesn't die with its internal batteries life-cycle.
    Don't let these muppets trick you with ESG score nonsense that is just trying to rationalize cost-cutting and making CHEAPER controllers. This will be Microsoft's cheapest Gamepad yet. The trend has beeen moving towards controllers that barely last a year before they break down, or get analogue drift. Mean--while, my original Xbox 360 wired controller for PC still works, I STILL use it for my PC gaming, and its lasted over 3 years worth of my PC builds.
