- I had a lot of questions after the sirrus x video about the future shock stem, so this is just me showing off how to swap the stem out and that you can be able to swap the stem to any stem of your choosing. It doesn't have to be only a specialized stem.
Please if you have any questions please let me know down below and I will get back to you as soon as possible!!!!
Thanks so much for the support.
Good vid man, thanks. Need to add a shorter stem to my new diverge and was worried about the future shock assembly - looks easy enough so I'll go ahead and see how it works out. Thanks!
You are very welcome. Just be careful with that top cap pinch bolt. It is very soft
I'm doing the same thing. New diverge is suuper long. Went with a 90mm. Hopefully feels better
Neat, thanks! My better half just got into a Diverge Carbon. But I think she'd be better with a little more angle/bar height. Glad to hear this can be swapped.
very nice
Another solid video! Good to know about stem. I always wondered if you could change our stem for another non specialized stem.
Yea the bikes when you buy them should come with an adapter
Stumbled across this video of yours from ages ago ... wondering if youv'e ever been asked to put a -12 degree stem on a future shock. My roubaix front end is already as low as I can get it (I also replaced the hover bars), and even with a -6 degree stem, I'd like to try to take it a bit lower. I wish the s-works future stem had a -12 degree setup but sadly it does not. Any recommendations? Have you ever tried an aero stem (enve, zipp, tarmac) on a roubaix? I wouldn't mind paying up to get a nice carbon stem.
There it is - thanks a lot! Super helpful.
Is moving the spacers over the stem on this bike as easy as just sliding them off along with the rubber sleeve thing and then putting the stem back on first, then sliding it all back on?
Thanks so much!! It’s very easy you can actually leave the stem on. So there is a 4mm bolt on like the dove tail part towards the bottom, you loosen that up and your going to pull out the whole future shock cartridge. And then remove the spacers and put it back down
@@GCPerformance18 Awesome, appreciate the info!
Hi, I just got a 2024 Roubaix and I want to switch out the stem. It appears the Specialized Future Stem has a 40mm stack height, now I have a Ritchey WCS that I love but it has a 42mm stack height. Does that mean it won't work with the Future Shock?
Thx in advance
Jon
I have a 2020 Roubaix Sport. Can the stem be flipped around so the 6 degree rise becomes a 6 degree drop instead? Between the stack height, raised handlebars, stem rise, and Future Shock, the ride position is just a tad bit too upright for me.
yes it can be jsut check the inside of the stem and make sure you dont have to flip the wedge inside as well but you should just be able to flip it no problem
I have two Roubaix and my first generation Roubaix does not have the cool rubber neck that these newer Roubaix’s have. Can I switch out the old rubber neck with the slicker, better looking ones, or am I stuck with the old rubber? Thanks again for all your videos and posts.
You can change out your future shock if you like. You just have to buy one but they all fit
Hi, I have ordered a shorter stem and it does not have the thin cilindrical shim as with you so i can't mount it. i have a plastic shim inside the original stem but it can not be used with the new stem. Is it something to be ordered seperately? Do you maybe have a product number?
can you change out the stem with a future shock 2.0 set up with the adjustable knob?
Yes you can. It would still just sit on top. The knob won’t have contact with the stem just the future shock. So there is no worries there at all😁😁
I’ve got this bike at all I’ve had is problems only had it about five weeks And the problems are with the stem and the lock and collar system I just don’t know how to Tighten it all up Even with the instruction manual it’s difficult and awkward
take it into a store and have them look at it, it is rreally easy to do but hard to explain over the ocmputer
I have a specialized sirrus x 4.0. Can I use the 120mm bontrager stem ? Or the 100mm 7 degree bontrager stem?
yea for sure you just need the adapter that comes with the bike to work with that stem, if you dont have it ask your specialized dealer where u bought the bike from and they should be able to get it for you
Does this mean that I cant use a stem mount such as a kedge adjustable stem mount for my wahoo? If it's just the twist off cap, it doesn't seem like it's going to stay.
yes that is correct, that will not work and you have to buy an out the fornt mount or the stem that comes on this bike can take a proprietary mount and they have a wahoo mount for it too
Can you please do a quick update on how to remoce the cap of theFUtureshock 2.0 please? I can't figure it out, I've tried reddit, google, and nothing.
I got you lemme check to see ifg I have one at my store but it is really simple!!! there is a small 2mm bolt on the top cap that you have to loosen its like a pinch bolt
@@GCPerformance18 thank you so much man!
Can you do a video on how to do this with the futureshock 2.0? What the difference is? Thanks
in terms of what changing your stem??? just for comfort if you want to be longer or shorter for how your fit feels.
GC Performance so i can put a different stem. The dial on top makes me nervous lol
@@mlanky2023rgl all you have to do is remove it with a alan key I think a 2mm make sure you dont use the round ball side. just unscrew a little and then pull up and they you can take off stem. dont tighten to hard when installing back on. screw is very soft and can strip
GC Performance ok thanks brother
My buddy gave me this exact stem, could I put it on my 2011 Allez? I haven’t tried to put it on yet in case I mess it up
Which stem was it? The one I took off or the one I put on?
Can you get away using another stem cap?
no
Can you fit a Future Stem into a non future shock steering tube like the Tarmac SL5
no you can not it is made for that bike specifically
So I can replace my Sirrus 6 stem with an S-Works future shock stem??
yes you can :))
@@GCPerformance18 Nice! Thanks!
Where can you get the shims?
they should come with your roubaix when you buy them in the parts box, or any biek with a future shock, if not then ask your local specialized store for spacers under the future shock and they can order or maybe have some in stock
If the future shock can accept any stem, why doesn’t it come with a standard 31.8 stem? What is the purpose of a oversized stem with an adapter to allow it to accept a smaller diameter?
The part your talking about is not 31.8 it is the steerer. And I don’t know that’s just how they use it but they all come with an adapter if you wanna run a different stem
where can i get that thin shim?
Any local specialized dealer, also they come with the stem usually when you buy one
Has anyone ever tried to put FS2 on the FS1 bikes like the 2019 diverge expert?
I was just thinking about that. Because in theory, you can there is nothing different about the housing for them. It’s the exact same, it would just be finding one after market or from specialized and how much
Can I change bar height without adding shims, thanks
No you need to add the shims to it
Can you drop the Stem on a 2019 Roubaix with 1.0 future shocks?
yes u can
It's almost as if you didn't plan this video out ahead of time. It NEVER works to hold the phone while you are trying to do something that requires two hands.
lmao I did not lol
Need a tripod?
I got a tri pod now lol
2.14 min That spacer is too big ?!?! Just flopping around on the future shock.
it goes around the stem and to fit the shim on the future shock once compressed it would be okay
@@GCPerformance18 I just fitted a 1.5 Future Shock to my 2018 Diverge. I had to use the original stem shim as one supplied was way too small. Using original stem shim means you have to use the washer but it's too bi as shown in this video. OK once it's compressed (trapped) but if it moves your fkd ! I choose to use my own customer was the correct internal dia to fit snug over the shock not flopping around as yours.
That top cap must screw out all the way. The snap you hear in the video, and why that cap flies off, is the screw holding it in breaking.
Take this video down. This video is crap. bad camera work, bad sound, nothing seems to work right, you don't have the right tools...........
