    Man, great video. You're 100% correct with all your comments. The only thing I'd say is to consider the "cons" before the "pros." New Braunfels is an amazing place to live, but the growth is coming so fast that it feels overly crowded more often than not. Traffic is getting worse and worse, there's a new accident on 35 every day, and your comment about waiting nearly 2 hours for a restaurant is spot on. It's a great place, but growing way too quickly. Again, great video, but recommend everyone check out ALL your videos as the whole San Antonio area is an amazing place to live!

    Excellent discussion! The first German settlers of Central/South Texas, such as New Braunfels, were fiercely opposed to slavery. Many of these German communities fought for the Union, during the Civil War. There is a monument to the German men who fought and died for the Union in Comfort, Texas, near Boerne. African-American Freedman communities settled around these friendly German areas for this reason.

    Just want to say I love your delivery, nice n quick n to the point. I live in Seguin, at Lake Placid, which is another good option and I'm a 25 minute drive to all of the shopping in Creekside. Not that Seguin doesn't have shopping. They have some, with hopefully more on the way sooner than later. For instance, when will the former Beall's(Seguin) location have a new tenant? Maybe there is something on the horizon I'm not aware of. We have fabulous Starcke Park and all that it has to offer, which I love. Thanks for your informative vids. 😊

    I’m sold! Actually, I already live in SATX, but your video was great. I’d just add this: the SUMMER HEAT actually begins May 15th & don’t stop until November 15th. I’m not joking. I’m actually considering (evacuating) the state during the summer & getting a summer place on a cool lake somewhere, way up north, near the US/ Canadian Border. Seriously. I say this to put the ‘Texas Heat’ into perspective: if there was no more air conditioning available in homes & cars, there would be no one living here anymore. No kidding! So, seriously think about that. I’m currently sitting in my living room on a July afternoon, with all of our window & door shutters & shades closed just to keep the heat out. I’ll note this, however, Electricity is very reasonable here. I spend an average $237 per month to cool my 3,000’ sq ft, single family home. I keep the a/c set at 71°F from 7pm - 1pm and 80°F from 1pm - 7pm. With ceiling fans on, it’s okay, but come 7:00pm when my set phone alarm goes off, I’m very ready to cool the house back down. I love it here, but it’s really, really hot. I’m a victim of the allergies too. Probably one of the worst. My sinuses suck. However, it’s not all year long, but it does take effect on you & your daily quality of life. Fortunately, there is allergy medicine to help. Nothing compares to the summer heat here. It’s OPPRESSIVE!

    Property taxes in TX are insane! Twice what I'm paying in California. 😮

    • @SanAntonioTexasLiving
      @SanAntonioTexasLiving  Před 2 lety +2

      True... but I'd take that over California's income tax, sales tax, breathing tax, crossing the street tax, and their "every day that ends in Y tax"....
      Seriously though, the property taxes are pretty high out here. Although, many of our clients relocating here from CA have told us they do have a higher sense of financial security and more breathing room every month after they've been here for a bit. I guess it all shakes out in the end😎.

    • @rockingredpoppy9119
      @rockingredpoppy9119 Před 2 lety +1

      @@SanAntonioTexasLiving the fact that CA has income tax and sales tax is what keeps the property taxes lower. Without income tax and sales tax, the tax burden is solely on property owners. Not exactly a fair shake.

    Moving to San Antonio in October for a new job. I’ve watched a few of your videos do you recommend New Braunfels or the Far west side?

    • @SanAntonioTexasLiving
      @SanAntonioTexasLiving  Před 3 lety

      That's a tough one! My family and I live on the Far West Side and really enjoy it, but we've helped a lot of families settle in NB and they really love it there too. You can't go wrong either way, although I will say that the FW Side is more affordable when it comes to home prices. It would depend also on where you'll be working and what the commute looks like. If you've got it narrowed down to those two areas you're in really great shape. The best thing to do would be to come check out both to see which you feel is a better fit. Were you planning to visit the area before your move?

    • @johns6431
      @johns6431 Před 3 lety +1

      @@SanAntonioTexasLiving Thanks for the response! I’m moving down a month or so before my family so I’ll have a chance to look around a bit. I start my new position early October and will be working in the 78284 zip code. Ideally I’ll check out the neighborhoods then fly my wife down to finalize on a place.
      My organization would’ve gave me a corporate relocation package if I chose to move to L.A 🤮 but San Antonio looked more appealing “cost of living” wise. I’m originally from CA so I know about those state taxes 😂. So now I’m having to handle this move myself. Currently we are selling our home in WA state then moving down.
      Send me your contact information and I’ll get a hold of you when I touch down in the area.

    I have distant relatives who have just moved to New Braunfels and are having a big house with a swimming pool built! I've check this place out on other videos and photos on Google Images and think it's a really beautiful town with yes, so many fun things to do! That park by the river is one of the most beautiful parks and a great place to go on hot summer days! But, the minute they moved there, that river flooded a whole neighborhood! And yes, it is hotter because you're closer to the equator! The down side is also Global Warming/Climate change which is REAL and we're already seeing the negative impact and devastation not only here in the states but worldwide hence the word, "Global " as in "Global Pandemic"! Scientists/meteorologists have already said storms like tornadoes are going to get more severe, we just saw that in Kentucky and other states! There are also severe droughts due to GW/CC which create those horrific wildfires on the west coast along with human negligence and Texas has the most tornadoes of any state per the American Climate Center! Scientists/meteorologists have already stated that Cypress, TX just outside of Houston is sinking along with the Jersey shore and the coastline of Rhode Island like Venice, Italy! I'll take the north as I live in the Florida of New England which has already seen some devastation from GW/CC like more sharks up in this neck of the woods, first time ever because they love to feed off the seals here as well as human flesh. A young lawyer died from a shark attack last summer! 'JAWS" the movie has gone from "reel" to REAL! Thanks for sharing and good luck to all who decide to move there, would hate that heat! Like air conditioning here in the summer months for the most part!
