    His precision is impossibly amazing. Out of his 3 incompletions in the Fla game, I do believe 2 were on target. Man is looking like a Heisman winner for sure.

    Joe was a good QB last year and didn’t get enough credit. He has always had accuracy, even in his Ohio State spring games. Joe Brady has seemingly built this offense around Joe’s strengths.

    This may be the best X’s & O’s breakdown of the LSU-UF game that I’ve seen in terms of how Florida’s scheme lacked the ability to stop LSU. Honestly, I don’t believe it had anything to do with LSU being more talented (except maybe Burrow) seeing as though Florida has first rounders on D in multiple positions. This was simply scheme superiority by Ensminger/Brady and precision and execution by the QB, in this case, the front-runner for the Heisman in Burrow. Great video and I most definitely watched until the end. Great video, man!

    The best answer I got from this film study is too not play scared; more specifically get in the face of those WRs and bring some exotic blitzes from corners and safeties. There were certain plays I felt like UF could've shown man press on the slot and brought the corner screaming off the edge. Or maybe the slot corner shows blitz setting up the LB to shoot the middle. also when the WR's have wide splits, why play 8-9 yards off?? Those bunch sets are too dangerous to press up, maybe a good time to dial up a disguised blitz/coverage? Hindsight is 20/20. GREAT video

    Man I gotta give credit to that LSU offensive line... they were so weak last year, but this year they seem to really have it together... always been a tiger fan so extremely happy actually seeing this offense improve like we’ve been promised for like the past 10 years. Burrow just has an unbelievable football IQ also, he isn’t perfect, but I would say he only makes one ill advised decision per game. Joe Brady is the best thing to ever happen to LSU

    Very good content bro. I was glad to see some physicality from the offense and defensive lines also. I understand Florida's D line was hit hard with Injuries but we were carving out some huge running lanes. That play when Emery was tackled by Zuniga from the backside wouldve been interesting if Decalus sealed that block. Also Big Tyler Shelvin dominated at the nose guard. Now be it was against Florida's interior lineman, but it's all positive signs. Good to see it against good on good.

    Great video as always. Looking at the plays from the first drive for LSU in the 2nd half, I'm curious why Granthem didn't pick up on these feeder routes which dragged players into other zones. For example, Instead if both linebackers coming up for the run option, the outside LB should have moved to fill the gap and the middle linebacker should have dropped back to defend the route. 20/20 of course, but I'm not a college coach so I'd think they would understand the principle of what LSU was doing and surprised they didn't have a counter move. It seems as if the boys weren't coached at half time to take this into account. Tons of comments, to include, what is the philosophy behind playing with a pad on the routes, especially when they are 3rd and 5 and not jamming the routes at a minimum, if not, you are just giving the 1st down away with Burrows.

    Only way to slow this down is to have man press coverage w/ sgl high or 2 high safeties depending on formation. BUT you have to get solid jams on the wr's at the line. Throw off their timing. Sgl gap responsibilities on the DL (maintain 'gapstinence') to protect against the run. The problem is that most teams don't have the personnel across the board to effectively get it done! Scary offense! Great film study! I would love to get your breakdown on OU's revamped D! BOOMER!

    Question for you and I’m very curious to see your answer. As a bengals fan we are obviously going to have one of the first picks and almost guaranteed to take a quarterback. Is burrow the best college football quarterback to you ? How well will his game translate to the nfl ? Do you like him over Herbert, tua

    • @TopBillinSports
      @TopBillinSports  Před 4 lety +1

      No, not the best quarterback after 6 total games of people even thinking he's any good. He played in a pro-style offense last season and generally struggled and put up pedestrian numbers. This scheme is way more simpler and quarterback friendly, which is something you rarely see in the NFL, He's definitely improved, but I'd look towards someone who has to throw into tighter windows against man coverage to really make sure they can succeed in the NFL. Baker Mayfield is showing signs of those type of offenses stunting his growth now that he has to execute professional-level plays; it's just hard to know when people are so wide open off being schemed up. I know Jake Fromm (Georgia) may not illicit a strong response from the fan base, but he is one who executes and NFL offense with personnel that isn't as explosive as Burrow and Tua's. I'll have more on that after the season heading into the draft, though. Lots of games to be played against good competition for these teams, so the cream will rise to the top.

If he can stay consistent I think he can be special

    seems like the only way to disrupt this offense (or attempt to) would be to jam the WR's at the line to throw off the timing. Really only 1 way to slow down, and I say slow down because you really can't stop an offense like LSU's or Alabama's when they have QB's and receivers like that they can only stop themselves with mistakes. You gotta play defense like Florida State played that gave Steve Spurrier at Florida fits. Tight physical bump and run man coverage with no free releases off the line and blitz like crazy. Of course this isn't 100 percent affective and the defense is gonna give up some big plays but it's really the only option.

    Only teams with the defensive personnel at all three levels to stop this type of offense are Georgia and Ohio State (maybe Auburn?). I haven't studied Wisconsin enough - I hope they have some speed. You mention Clemson along with a few other teams. I'd exclude Clemson because we didn't "stop" it, per say; we just gave up underneath routes - speaking from an objective standpoint of "stop". You need speed at linebacker for something like this, which we lacked last year outside of Simmons. Im gonna speak strictly from a 7-on-7 standpoint and exclude the O and D-lines, since it's hard to project how those will affect teams game in and game out. Miss St (2nd half last year) and UGA were the only teams that I would say stamped the fire out of these offenses. Of course, then Burrow is willing to scramble, but if he's doing that, you're winning the reps, theoretically, since the play isn't working as drawn. You can play a Cover 4 shell, but you need a good redzone defense to reap the benefits of bend-but-don't break. 2 high safeties and bringing one underneath can catch the offense slipping if the linebacker steps up and they throw it there. But again, if you get beat, that's your ass.... and also Terrance Marshall Jr is still out, and when he gets back, my entire theory is fucked. He's a big-body and 50-50 ball type of guy that the Bama version of this offense doesn't have and we see how Clemson uses those guys. LSU hasn't had to resort to doing that, but it's in the toolbox....can't wait to see part 2. I have so many questions.
    Edit: and yes, of course put hands on the receivers as you mentioned in this video and last year's series of Clemson videos. But, doing that every play would be risky and you're gonna get burned at least two or 3 times.
    Edit 2: I do have one question for right now - do you think Florida played timid on defense (or tried to employ a bend-but-don't break) against the WRs because they were afraid their offense couldn't keep up or stay on the field and give them rest?
