It's really interesting and sad to see how the oppression of Anita Bryant and her allies affected cities all over the U.S. I've had to fight with the internalized oppression within myself which was planted there by people like Bryant.

Look at the map of the USA that went for Romney vs Obama. The so-called "Bible Belt", and the former slave states went for Romney. It's because children learn hate from their parents, and grow up to teach it to their own children. People in these areas, like Kansas, should travel more, learn more, and think more about what it means to be a human being.
On the bright side, people like anita really helped make Gay a household word and really pushed the movement over the edge. Mr Milk's death was a true injustice and if he were still alive I feel the movement would have progressed so much more, but I suppose we aren't doing terrible. However, it's kinda sad and pathetic that she chose to ruin other people's lives, which eventually led to her downfall. Anita's homophobic campaign costed her career, her reputation, and ironically, her own marriage. She did a lot of damage, and it's very unlikely that she can turn things around. And yet, Anita still holds on to her bigotry, blaming gays for her ruined life, when she fails to realize the destruction she is causing. I hope that she can learn a lesson, but unfortunately, she would probably never do so.
