During Indira Gandhis rule, there’s wasn’t a single source of media broadcasted to the public that wasn’t censored by Indira gandhis administration. This entire interview was most likely rehearsed. @Mr. X We praised her interview, we would have praised interview of Modi ji but sorry we couldn't find it anywhere
Except for that mango one(with Akshay kumar) and some other.
      No press conference from him
Modi Ji says what he want in "man ki baat" but we are not interested in that, we like two way communication just like this one.
You speak of Chai wala becoming PM yes that was great and truly inspiring
But we also know that his power and success is built on Gujrat riots ( on people's grave)
Yes he took great and brave steps like demonetization (which Congress couldn't) but my friend where is black money??
And we also know how GDP dropped after that and it was a failure only poor section pay the price. Lion of "make in india" is roaring in China. Indian democracy index is falling. Freedom of press is questioned regularly. I don't see "acche din".
Yes Modi ji have not taken a single holiday but roaming from from one country to other with world class facility is holiday to me.
Building wall to hide poverty is just one of the modi things. All the things i mentioned should also be mentioned in the Glory of Modi ji in History text books and i bet you my grandchildren will not support his(Modi ji) deeds, except for swachh Bharat abhiyan. Incase you don't now modiji govt. helped corruption by amendment in electoral bonds. So i conclude Judge the person by his work. praise their work if they did good and criticize if they don't deliver.
Here we just admired the interview not the bad deeds by Gandhi family.

And idiots like you think she belittled him with her innuendo. She clearly seems uncomfortable with tough questions. And before you bark out for "at least facing tough questions". He was a foreign journalists. They are quite unpredictable. Above all, she had censored or imprisoned all brave Indian journalists for questioning her move. Hence, AFTER the emergency, she was trying to save the face by giving interview to a foreign journalist.

@rishabh sharma 1. Wow! So to solve population problem, one should forcefully sterilize poor people. Hope she had done it with your parents. How dumb and sycophant one could be to even defend such heinous and unconstitutional move to defend a psychopath.
      2. If it was for her, she would have never uplifted the emergency. When Indians pushed back the dictators like Britishers with their determination, she was nothing. It was Indian masses who protested against her openly and if she hadn't uplifted it, mass revolt would have broken out. Anger was such that despite having no other alternative in politics as all the other ones were quite nascent as was proven when they were elected, people voted her out. But idiots like you are so blind in your sycophancy that you refuse to see that.
      3. I have no love for Modi and BJP. And yes, he is as coward as she was. I only said that to save myself from this stupid argument which I saw coming from mindless fanatics like you. It's a case of both the journalist and the politician doing their jobs well. Journalists should aggressively pursue the truth on behalf of the public and politicians should face those searching questions and leave it to the public to decide whether they are being sincere and truthful. We rarely, if ever, see this today.
As you say, Mrs. Gandhi's spine is very clearly in evidence here. She absolutely knew how to handle questions by carefully examining the question itself, analyzing the precise words being used to avoid getting tangled up in attempts to catch her out. Kudos to her, but also to Jonathan Dimbleby (the journalist here) who took on her mighty intellect, but arguably lost this battle. I doubt whether any journalist managed to outwit Mrs. Gandhi.

Third, you can only say that because he had been given clean chit from the court. So had she. Communual politics is not the way forward. His policies at economic front has failed miserably. It will decline if something is not done soon.
You are the prime minister of India and you dont even feel the need to face media. India has been polarised. I dont like congress. He is nothing but just a demagogue, which you will only realize when this countries GDP will be destroyed. Its ok to be proud. But to publicize it as every front come on, its annoying. Modi is downright stupid who makes stupid statements like his Radar theory while interveiw. You live in a democracy where Modi is not obliged to give interviews which is considered to be the third pillar of democracy. Wow thats a nice thinking of you. Second India was not secular. Do you even know what secularism means. India was never one country, it was never intigrated, Ashoka tried to intigrate, but so did samjdragupta, but all in vain. So india was a subcontinent, it was never a country before 1947. We have to thank our freedom fighters who gave their life for this country to be made. And by the way, muslim league and RSS were just bootlicker of britishers who just wanted minority rights for themselfs.. if it was for them this would have divided a while back. Thanks for the likes of Nehru who was a great leader who gave it the foundation that it still won't be shaken. Mrs. Gandhi has been and will eternally remain, the only persona, with the aura of being the head of our vast subcontinent !!

"The future of India is for us to decide and we will fight it out in India and I don't think it is anybody else business... " She had said it 44 years ago. A true statesman indeed was she. Thanks

She may try to rationalize her decision to bring about the emergency, but what is wrong is wrong.. One remarkable thing about the video is the fact that the journalist came up with some of the hard hitting questions to any Prime Minister of a country and the Prime Minister agreed and stayed through the entire interview to share her views and respond to the journalist's questions..
