Rose coming out of the car is amazing as she looks up. An amazing entrance for the beginning of the journey and film.
Gazza 4 ikr idk how to say it, it's just like so mesmerizing seeing her step out of the car
Gazza 4 to
I am sure her entrance was an homage to Bette Davis in Now, Voyager.
epic entrance
Rose is a butter sket
I remember my 13-year-old self being mesmerized watching Rose stepping out of the car.
michelmoutinhofr1 im since 3 elementry school 😁
My 5-year -old self😂
michelmoutinhofr1 me too my 11 year old self.
I still remember seeing this for the first time
And then out of her clothes 😏
I had a female friend who looked like Kate Winslet. I was nuts for her. Unfortunately, her “Jack” wasn’t me.
Rose's hat is a Titanic itself. 😜😂
Tony Caban 🤣😂😂😂
Tony Caban lol good one 😂
I'm a Gamer here, and recently there was a new update came onto my game, and they brought out some fancy hats, summer hats, and one of them looks like Rose's hat, and I decided to buy it for my female character, everyone keeps coming up to me on the game and complimenting me about my new hat now lol XD
Loved how they dressed back then
Lol

This is one of the most brilliant leading lady entrances in a film. Old Rose ( Gloria Stuart ) had been already been introduced, but James Cameron made it clear with Kate Winslet's entrance that it was young Rose who was the real leading lady. This movie was so successful because it hearkened back to the film making of the great masterpieces of the past, like Gone With The Wind.
TITANIC TX Thank you for your videos, they are great! I never knew that the sunset that night was exactly as it is in the film.
I was thinking the same thing when I watched the clip.
Oh gone with the wind...
Very well said and I agree!
It is very Now, Voyager too!
I first saw this when I was nine. Rose getting out of the car stunned me completely
Same. Guess it means we have expensive taste.
Railfan 765 it is but many other kids including me when I was younger have seen PG-13 movies or some parts of rated R ones with their parents.
@Lend me a ciggie would ya mate? me to probably lol
Agreed. She looks like a princess. All of her outfits in the movie were so, so gorgeous. And she looks stunning with red hair, or suits her so well
"So this is the ship they say is unsinkable"
Oh Ruth honey no
Just wait three more days lmao
No, just wait, dear. Just wait.
And 1,500 deaths later
😂😂😂😂 that line is so funny
But thats how they advertised it back in 1912..... unsinkable. Theres even posters you can see that say that. It was one of their marketing ploys. So sad
It’s so weird, that we’ve already met Rose, and we’ve already seen her younger from the flashback she had of the drawing, yet it’s still so exciting when we see her come out of that car. The first time we see the life she lived. Almost chilling. But it’s sad to think about how beautiful and happy everything was in this moment, but then think back to the people sinking and freezing in the pitch black ocean only a few days later.

Even if the ship hadn’t sunk the war wasn’t far of from coming which would have changed a lot of people’s lives anyway.
What an entrance.
yeah and wait did she said that she knows the mauaratania its a cunard liner will titanics a wight star liner
yes enter the ship of dreams
She looks so pretty and I LOVE her outfit/style
How perfect is this shot? Hand immediately outstretched, foot descends and then the tilt up seeing half her face beneath her beautiful hat, looking at the ship for the first time. This movie is perfect.
Exactly! Everything was so carefully thought out and yet they have manage to make it so natural and magical!
Yes it gives the impression that Rose is a spoiled lady and then you quickly get to know her. She's actually not impressed because she's materialistic, but because she doesn't care for the materialistic.
Not to mention the crescendo of the music as we see her face.
I sometimes imagine myself like that, coming out of the car😅
I love Rose's outfit
Drips of elegance, but the necktie and frilled man-style collar subtly eschew femininity for a more straightforward look, much like Rose's personality.
The fashion in the edwardian era is so much better than today, imo..
And his historival acurate
It's actually a real dress from a fashion house, made a few days before Titanic set sail
@@skierskater1000 actually that is just what women wore
0:07 i love how her hand moves out robotically😂
I know right I tried doing that when I'm getting off my dad's car 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
True
😂😂😂😂😂 screaming
The man's hand also moves robotically. The part of her stepping out of the car looks very CGI and I'm not sure why they did it this way.
I love the part where Rose gets out of the car and she is wearing this huge purple hat and then she looks up at the ship!
All of Kate Winslet's outfits were amazing and only she could wear them. Titanic was always my favorite movies! Hard to believe its been so long since this movie came out!
FYI Kate Winslet was not the first choice of James Cameroon. The director considered Gwyneth Paltrow, Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, and Reese Witherspoon for the role of Rose.
@@baronessofleeds1866 As much as I love Winona Ryder, I could not imagine her as Rose
@@baronessofleeds1866 Kate Winslet said she read the script and said "Right, I've got to be in this. No two ways about it," asked her agent to give her James Cameron's phone number, and called him and called him and called him until he agreed to let her audition. Apparently it was that determined spirit that actually convinced James Cameron that she would be perfect as Rose.
there's a 90s thing to this movie that's so magical. they don't make em like this anymore.
That may not altogether be a bad thing.
most overrated movie of all time
@@angusthecat1689 You said it!
@@angusthecat1689 then why'd you even watch this clip?
@@asher9349 just voicing my opinion
I like how Rose is so robotic and cold in the beginning of the film and slowly lets herself loose and be more genuine as she finds happiness.
I noticed that too. Someone else noted Rose's outfits are tight and restricted in the beginning of the movie, and get more loose and comfortable as she falls in love with Jack later on. I think the hat isn't just done for impact but also to feed into that. She is wearing all white, tight fitting clothes she can't move in, and she is wearing a hat that blocks her vision of the ship she is about to board, she has to stretch her neck to see it. And she's not invested in the ship or how beautiful it looks. Later, in the scene where she is looking out over the ocean, her hair is free flowing and her vision unrestricted, she can really see it all
She was just being negative and cynical in the beginning.
Kate Winslet looks stunning in this scene

To be fair, she was holding a bunch of stuff and couldn't reach her hand out for assistance.

SO true
she has the same expression in her face as in the end of the movie when shes aboard the carpathia and looking towards new york and the statue of liberty
She looks so beautiful. I remember watching this as a kid. I thought that she was an angel.

"It is unsinkable"
**Mistakes were made that day** :D
sfctwZockt it's unsinkable because if 4 compartments flooded the Titanic wouldn't sink.
Sadly it punctured 5 compartments
I dont know how you define unsinkable but for me its an adjective describing sth. that cannot sink no matter what.
"This new kevlar vest is bullet proof"
-Except you are within 300 meters, in that case youre dead.
I wouldnt call that bullet proof.
General x Productions That might be so but Titanic was poorly designed. The rivets easily popped out when Titanic hit the iceberg and the bulkheads did not stand head to toe as they only went as high as E deck allowing the water to spill from one compartment to the next and vice versa causing the ship to sink.
Gosh, she's got the most beautiful face in the whole world.

Kate Winslet in her early 20s was truly a beautiful rose.
I love how this scene immediately sets up the relationships between characters. Rose, beautiful and elegant but serious and not at all joyful, quite depressed and not too taken with Cal. Cal himself, full of joy and excitement with this adventure, eager to get Rose to agree with him. Rose's mum, who laughs at Cal's comment but doesn't sound genuine with her laugh - she's strained and trying so hard to make small talk and keep up appareances, but she's strained too and probably annoyed at how blasé Rose is being
Those just rent the characters though, Cal is a complete Disney villain and rose finds their relationship absolutely awful and she's being forced into it by her mum.
You really explained well
I immediately had a crush on her as a kid because of this scene
That whole shot was done very well. I’m not normally one to notice tricks in cinematography, but that is probably one of the most memorable entrances for a character I’ve seen.
NO ONE else but Kate Winslet was meant to have their face fill the screen for that shot from under her hat, she was EXQUISITE.
This one will always be one of my favorites scenes of this epic movie. Rose coming down of the car so elegant, so beautiful, it's amazing!!!!
This scene was the best. I loved that hat. I wonder if she kept that hat after filming ended. She looked gorgeous in that hat. Titanic is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Still mesmerizing by Rose when she stepped out with that gorgeous stunning dress and hat. 💜
I love the swell in music as she looks up. It wouldn't be the same without it.
0:15 this frame of her getting out of the car alone belongs to an art gallery
Most iconic character introduction in cinema history.
Favourite character entrance! ♥️
I remember my heart stopping when I first saw Rose. So stunning!
This was probably the most overwhelming movie I have ever seen at the flicks. I was taken a back about everything in this movie. I fell in love with Rose. I wanted to be Jack's best friend. I wanted to help the passengers. The music was just perfect. Me a grown man. I was crying. I couldn't leave my seat at the end till I composed myself. Very emotional. Wonderfully acted. My favourite movie of all time.
I second that. Absolutely!
Everyone loved Jack but my 2nd grade self in the movie theater was like FABRIZIO 😍🥰🔥
As a man, I almost cried but I was just too manly.
I was 9 the first time I saw this movie, still haven’t seen a movie where the leading lady’s introduction tops this
When I was 13 first watching this first seeing Rose took my breath away she was so beautiful here.
Roses outfit is STUNNING!!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯💯

One of the iconic moments of the movie. I still remember how impressive I was with this scene when I was young

Still as stunning now 25 yrs later as the day I watched! I was just in awe of that scene, it was perfectly done.
I love how their acting doesn't even look like an "acting", as if everything was very much happening in reality and we're witnessing it through the screen... Just wow
I love her hat
Me too ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everything about this scene was so great. The gloved hand, immediately showing it’s someone important, the large brimmed hat, putting the time period in place, and then the camera panning to rose’s face, revealed from under the hat as she looks up, starting from the lips, then landing at her eyes on Titanic. Classic beauty, classic filmmaking.
I will be honest her outfit is beautiful.
Kate Winslet is so beautiful it's unreal.
Let's all admit it. James Cameron is a genius, through and through.
What an entrance!
One of the scenes in which Rose is most beautiful. I love how the ship initially does not impress her.
My God, Kate Winslet looked so beautiful in this scene!!!
This scene lives in my childhood memories rent free.
Rose is certainly a beauty in that dress. 🥰
This scene always resonated with me for some reason, ever since I saw the movie in theaters as a kid...then a couple years ago I discovered that my great grandfather came to America from Lithuania on the Mauretania in December 1912, he arrived exactly 8 months after the Titanic hit 😳

Well my great great grandmother travelled on titanic as my grandfather told me. She was 30 at that age and she was one of the survivors on titanic . But she died 70 years after at the age 101.
Rip my great great grandmother 1882- 1982
Pure, old Hollywood-style magic.
It's hilarious how, upon their entrances, Rose is the snooty and stiff one, and Cal is the giddy and excited one. Didn't take long for that to switch.
The chills of excitement I get seeing Titanic scenes to this day
Compare this to the more fairly rugged and independent arrival of Molly Brown all by herself (as a traveling passenger) carrying all her own bags in hand onto the ship and dropping them down upon finally getting help the two arrivals were a total 180 degree difference.
She likely also arrived in a fancy car. We just didn't see that
I first saw it when I was ten, and I literally watched this movie every single day for that whole year 😂Interestingly, the day I first watched this movie was when I learned what the word suicide meant. My brother (12) said something about Rose attempting suicide during that first scene with Jack and Rose, so I had to ask my mom and she told me what it was.

Rose brought the go big or go home attitude with her hat choice.
She was already setting her cap for Jack.😮
Nice footage. Thanks for sharing. Rose was rocking/wearing that hat.
Rose’s mum: so this is the ship they say that’s unsinkable.
Iceberg: hold that thought.
"How extraordinary" was said so much in this movie.
Jack and Rose say each other's names so much in this movie too. Not to mention Jack also says "Come on!" a lot.
I always loved the scene as a child ♡
This whole scene was filmed completely in mirror image and then flipped in post because Cameron made only the starboard side of the ship.
"Unsinkable" but then... :(
"God himself couldn't sink this ship." Cursed the voyage right there.
Sam Owen See, it's all Cal's fault
Jean Yang its not 'unsinkable'. Thomas andrews (the designer of titanic) said the ship can stay afloat if 4 compartments have been flooded. J. Bruce Ismay is the one said that titanic is 'Unsinkable'. So alot of people really believed that its 'Unsinkable'. So, when the ship sank, alot of people got mad/angry at him. Because the 'Unsinkable' ship sank with their love ones.
Im telling you people, its just a prediction. Your not sure if a ship is unsinkable. Its just in YOUR OPINION. If someone said it is a 'unsinkable' ship. Dont believe it. Its just a *PREDICTION*
I just recently read somewhere that this outfit that Rose wears represents a prison jumpsuit with its stripes. And notice how it looks kinda tight fighting. As the movie progresses, her clothing, along with her hair, become more and more loose representing that she is breaking free of Cal's clutches.
God himself could not sink this ship
God: Yo, Iceberg. What you doing Sunday night?
Iceberg: I'm just chilling, why?
God: Those humans haven’t learned not to mock God! Time to teach them a little lesson! Sink that ship!
Iceberg: Yes sir! Save your prayer, Titanic!
Hehe "chilling"
Pfft... This WAS a fictional statement.
@@billhosko7723 Really? I never knew that, I always thought it was actual footage
"It's the unsinkable ship"
Iceberg: "Hold my beer."
FICTIONAL quote.
Interesting thing is that no one ever said the ship was unsinkable or advertised it as such. True, the mechanisms it had would have concluded that it was unsinkable but only because such a disaster (like scrapping an iceberg) was unheard of and very unlikely. A head-on collision by Titanic or one from another ship to Titanic would probably breach 3 compartments at most so the ship could remain afloat (earlier ships would likely sink or capsize).
Pretty much this. The Titanic and her sisters were made to survive a collision with another ship.
But not an Iceberg. And even then, most people theorize the Titanic could've survived a head-on impact with the iceberg (even though I'm not sure if it could. I'd like to hear people with knowledge on the subject talk about this)
Why oh why did hats go out of fashion? That purple hat is gloriously stunning in every way!!
A perfect beginning, foretelling a tragic ending.
It is sad that all these people were looking forward to a relaxing voyage only for them to be lead to their doom a few days later.
I love how they referenced the Mauretania. Or RMS Mauretania for her full title.
For those of you who dont know. The Mauretania was designed to be the fastest passenger liner owned and operated by Cunard (Which still exists today and is the comapany that owned The Carpathia, The ship that rescued Titanic's survivors) She was slightly smaller than Titanic but was designed for speed. She operated from 1906 to 1935 when she was scrapped.
Kudos to Maure but the biggest ship in the world was Olympic before Titanic came in… and she was barely acknowledged
Carpathia was torpedoed thrice, three years after they rescued the Titanic.
@@beneddiected
The Olympic was such a beautiful ship.
There is photo auf Olympic (Titanic's elder and equally long, but a bit ligher sister) and Mauretania mooring behind each other before being scrapped. They look pretty similiar in size. Particulary if you are not much into naval architecture, the Olympic class does not appear like a huge jump. (Though the Olympic class was around 30% heavier than Mauretania).
Considering the size difference between Olympic and Titanic was rather small, Titanic was only deemed larger, because she was heavier, and HAPAG in Germany was working hard on the Imperator class already, I just do not get, what should be so special about Titanic in particular. That the newer sister ships are a bit heavier is pretty usual.
How beautiful Rose Dewitt bukator is.
Gosh I remember that scene and the music. Chills down the spine.
