    This was a strange interview. Well done Moffat for managing this well

    The 17:44 question seemed really out of left field

    I've always found that Steven really does play his talents down whenever he's done interviews. I don't think all of his Doctor Who is gold but there are some really clever episodes that were penned by him! The same applies to Sherlock and Dracula, both shows I've really enjoyed!

      By far the best Who writer of all time. A great show-runner, too.

    Totally agree with the other comments. Not an appropriate or nice question at 17.45. Implies he got the job not due to talent, when he is very talented.

      No. It's intended to make Steven "check his privilege" and make him feel guilty for getting his job, due to his very incredible talents.

    17:50 Well done Mr Moffat, a classy response to a classless, vile question.

      Vile is exactly the word for it. And yes, Moffat handled that with true class and poise.

      It always baffles me when people attack white guys like Moffat who have shown to be empathetic towards others disadvantages and ask them to answer for all the wrongs in the world as if that individual is personally responsible. It's beyond disgusting to treat someone like that.

      It's a Murdoch-owned channel. They wanted him to say something defensive so they could put a 'Moffat slams woke cancel culture' headline. He was too smart to take the bait.

    I loved watching Press Gang online, after discovering Steven Moffat wrote it. I'm a young American millenial and I thought it was brilliant, even with the changes in time and British cultural references.
    I shrieked with laughter when Spike walked in wearing an American football uniform when all the other characters knew they were playing soccer.

  • @markhayward7400

    Like all good shows, it starts with the writing. It doesn't matter how much money you have to throw at making Dr Who, if the scripts are no good, it's money wasted.
    This was the problem with Dr Who in the Moffat era. With very few exceptions, the writing wasn't good enough.

    • @anotheryoutubeuser
      @anotheryoutubeuser Před 8 měsíci

      Well, at least, his writing wasn't so campy and corny as Russel T. Davies' (almost touching self-parody), who also couldn't write a good episode ending to save his life. And based on the recent specials, he still can't write an effective episode conclusion.

  • @wesrumbelow2844

    such a weird interview. The interviewers seemed to put on a blatant false hospitality to mask unwarranted hostility towards Steven. I think he handled it perfectly, as he always does, but jfc, these people need to get a bloody grip.
