I don’t understand the hate. The man’s work on Doctor Who was and is brilliant and it left an indelible mark on me and I hope my child. How could you deny the magnificence of that era of the show?? As well as on Sherlock?? I find them both to be two of the best, if not THE best, television shows I’ve ever had the privilege of being able to enjoy. It’s almost like there are people whose soul purpose is to provide the opposition, and they don’t speak from any real solid ground. I mean, creating an arc about the time traveling baddie-ender who loses his companions to time, who then falls in love with a psychopath sent to kill him while their time-streams flow in opposite directions…that’s inspired. All while playing out the love story of Amy and Rory, whose child ends up being that love interest…that’s beyond reproach in my book. It went international and the show reached every demographic. Unfortunately it has devolved into pandering of all demographics and seemingly misplaced its soul. Hopefully that is only temporary. Writing is difficult as it is, but they took a show that’s 50+ years old and made it new again and spun new stories and storylines, while staying within 99% of the lines that been drawn prior. Fantastic. All while simultaneously making Sherlock who has the same international prestige and success. Come on man, get real, this guy is an international treasure and if it were up to me he’d have been honored with an American citizenship for blessing our children with the era of his work he made. Even as a man in his thirties these shows helped me grow up and got me through dark times, so I, for one, am truly grateful and seriously chalk the hate up to people either venting their negative energy somewhere they don’t comprehend or believe is a target that means much to them, or they’re standards are so high they’re going to be constantly disappointed. I hope Moffat and Gatiss come out with as many shows as they can muster so long as they enjoy it, for as long as they can.

Mr Moffat is one of the funniest and wittiest writers out there. Him along with Mark Gatiss and Steve Thompson have made of BBC Sherlock one of the cleverest shows of modern TV. So much detail and so much thought put into it; truly brilliant! I'm lucky enough to have met them and I can say they're also very humble and grateful for their fans. Thanks for your work!

I'm glad he had the guts to say the writer is the most important person in creating the shows. Everyone else is very skilled at executing their craft and making it come alive but it's nothing without a well written script. The writer is the one coming up with all the brilliant characters and stories but they are often the most unknown out of everyone working on it. It's not that everyone else doesn't deserve praise for doing a great job but writers really don't get any credit for what they do.

phhhft, he says students at Oxford don't need his advice because they're already so accomplished for getting into the school but he couldn't be more wrong. They haven't been successful in a career yet and don't truly know what it entails. You can't really until you spend many years in the workforce. Many have accomplished less than any working adults and have very skewed realities of the world and workplace at that age. Advice from someone who has spent decades in the workforce and been successful at it has a lot of advice and experience to pass on to College students.

It would cost much more money to have species back which hadn't been in the new series as there need to be so many design decisions that go into it - especially now that we broadcast in HD/4K. It would be a bit of a waste of budget to have all that and only for a few shots.

I'm sure Steven Moffet is a nice man and I agree with some of the comments below that Steve. Moffet is very clever, but when it comes to running a show or becoming a "Showrunner especially if you want to go it alone, you have to be talented enough to do so
You have to collaborate and sometimes sacrifice what has been written so a Director and the Editor And the Actors can do there job properly.
    S
Steve Moffet has created a production on his ow via Doctor Who that is so poorly produced that great actors that guest star look like bad actors after being in today's Doctor Who
Steve Moffets who created his mess as he was riding on the praise he achieved from working with Russel T Davies on Doctor Who as we all loved Ste e Moffets stories in Doctor Who when Russel T Davies was the Showrunner but we all failed to understand that Those stories even though they were writen by Stevemoffet ,those stories were PRODUCED BUbRUSSEL T DAVIES AND NOT STEVE MOFFET
For example I magazine the great stories like "The Empty Child "and "The Doctor Dances" and even "Silence in the library " were now produced with Steven Moffet as the Showrunner and Peter Capaldi as the Doctor ?
If Steve Moffet had full charge like he has today those Stories I mentioned above would have been totally different and probably and most likely NOT VERSy GOOD as he wouldn't let the editor and the director and the actors do their jobs properly
Bottom line Steve Moffet is a clever writer but it is a totally different Art bringing that storythat was written to the tv screen
