I think you explain this even better than TSO's video does, which of course takes some doing!

Another option would be to elevate the guide rail and parallel guides on 2x4 material then run the bars under the track and butt the narrow stops to a tooth of the track saw blade, that would be balls on zero/10.

Hi Ron, I saw a video from 2011 where you showed us the festool parallel guide system but I came to the newest video to ask you in order to make it easier to find my comment. By any chance do you know if the Festool parallel guide would work in a Makita Rail? I can't find this info and I'm having an issue with suppliers in Northern Ireland where I can only get a 3000mm guide from Makita as festool ones need to come from England and transport companies are not delivering such a long piece.
    Thanks in advance.

Ron, I really appreciate your videos and the idea of using a "system". Purchased the plans for you new bench, and have started cutting the patterns (that is a great benefit for these plans!). A few questions. 1- Once the bench is built with a top using 96mm spaced, 20mm holes, why do you need the parallel guides as shown in this video? I thought the whole reason for the mft table was to have a square system for cutting. 2- For your Smart Bench, what is the purpose of the outer ring of 20mm holes with 32mm distance from the main grid, but exactly in line with the main grid? I can't find a video where you talked about this outer ring, and Peter Parfitt shows his outer ring with holes in between the main grid implying that it is for assuring that the track saw handle doesn't run into a dog when cutting. Finally, 3-Do you put any kind of finish on your table before putting it to work (e.g. wax, tung oil, etc.)? Thanks again - really like your ideas!

The parallel guides allow for repeated cuts of the same size without needing to repeat the measurement of the cut.

Ron, you are getting old. How come you are not getting fat? Maybe you should start another channel about the best Woodworker diets.

Woodworkers breathe in fiber, which helps them stay regular.
