- After 3 years at this house that was once abandoned, we learned a few lessons the hard way. During this episode, we install a 24000btu ductless mini split to help alleviate some of the winter stresses of only heating with wood.

I found your channel way back when you were renovating the travel trailer. I think you have the sweetest family! Following you along this journey of moving into an abandoned house and making it a home has been a joy to watch. I still can't get over the fact you built your own kitchen cabinets without ever doing it before. They look fantastic and the green is beautiful! You and Philip are making a beautiful home!
I would leave the doors white. Green is just enough on cabinets. Just my opinion
When we bought our house 4 years ago, we only had 3 working baseboard heaters and a woodstove downstairs and one upstairs which we couldn't use because the door swung out past the hearth and wasn't legal. We nearly froze LOL. We had a propane furnace installed and that first year even with using the woodstove downstairs, it was still cold. We needed an air-conditioned and the company that installed our furnace suggested a heat pump. WE LOVE IT. We live in middle part of Ontario, we do have cold winters, -30 at times. Can get to - 40 too. Since installing our heat pump, we haven't had the propane furnace coming on at all! Except for the dryer and kitchen stove - we don't use propane!! Our heat pump is installed into our furnace, so runs with our ducts.
Love you videos!!
That’s great Costway donated the mini-split for your home. 😊🤟🏼💕🙏🏼
The tv is to close to the heat unit there should be 6 to 10 in between the unit and the tv or your tv will over heat and might be damaged
Heatpump is so nice. I live in Norway and it’s cold here during winter, so a heatpump keeps the house warm 😊😊I’m sure you’re going to love it.
I also live in Norway! Heat pumps keep our house toasty all through winter, even when it's well below 0 👏
Hello, fellow Norwegians, lol!
Not only that, it helps keeping costs at a more manageable level (although we can’t exactly control the fluctuations in the energy market, it could have been much worse had a heat pump not been used at all)
I love the kitchen. Look what you've accomplished in only 3 years. I'm so impressed 😊
Please show us all the rooms that you have done and are done with.God bless you all.
That was a really good idea!
Love the green cabinets!
Can't believe you don't have a Million subscribers!! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
It looks so beautiful and way better than before you had a kitchen LOL... great job.
When you get around to painting that last cabinet green I suggest painting the small shelf and the holder and pegs green as well. Or maybe paint the peg support green and keep the pegs white.
The kitchen looks really nice! The cabinet color is perfect. I just wish my phone showed colors true. I'm sure it looks even better in person.
I am so impressed with this kitchen and all you've always do from even before moving there.👏 Yes all that goes with a wood stove, getting, splitting, dumping ashes, (can use them for gardens). Lots of work chimney cleans so they don't catch fire.
Thanks so much! 😊
I think you will love this product. I worked in a nursing home in the office by the entrance door and it would get so cold in the winter every time the door would open. They bought one of those and what a difference. Heat in the winter, cool in the summer. It was perfect. Enjoy it!👍🥰🌹
Good to know!
*CONGRATULATIONS on your new heat pump‼️😊 You did a wonderful job installing it, and it looks good there on the wall, too. 😊 Have you considered making the hood over your stove in the wood herringbone finish to match your island, instead of being green like the cabinets? Also, did you finish the plumbing and enclosing the ceiling in the pantry, now that your bathroom is finished?*
Thanks for sharing the 13:20 mini split we were looking to have one in the back of our house
Your kitchen is beautiful. Very inviting.
Wow you have worked wonders from when you first purchased the home. Looking great all over.
So glad they sent you this heat pump to help you when you need a quick burst of heat until the woodstove gets going. Amazing job on the installation. You two are awesome. Can't wait to hear about the secret.
Hey Elysia Philip & boys, love your kitchen. You will enjoy the new heat pump!Have a great week.❤️
Elysia! So excited for you! Relieved that it was an easy install. AND to get it free is epic! B~}

@@ElysiaEnglish So smart! Love our projects! Oh, question. I noticed that your kitchen sink doesn’t look like the the back of it is caulked where the sink meets the counter by the faucet. It probably is, of course it is, it just concerned me.
Your kitchen is beautiful❤. You have doing a fabulous job on your homestead. My AC just died so I have been looking for a new one. I have been debating on buying a mini split. After watching your video and seeing how easy installation is I bought the 18,000 BTU from Costway.
Your kitchen is lovely.I love the green it makes it perfect.Smart move on a secondary heat source lesson learned from the past you will never regret
Beautiful renovations. ❤❤❤❤
I think just having the green in the cabinets is enough. It looks perfect. The heat pump is a good move. Awesome!🙂👍👍
Green looks so much better beautiful colour love your videos 😊
The heat pump is so wonderful! You all will definitely enjoy it!❤️❤️
Wow, that looks great! So often they're installed in the middle of a wall that's a major focal point of a room and you stand there wondering "who thought that was a good idea????" But you found the perfect spot!
Love your beautiful green cabinets in your beautiful kitchen!❤ Enjoy the heat pump!
We have 3 mini slit units in our home…and they work great!!! Good luck with yours!!🥰
Heat pump doesn’t look awkward at all & it will keep you all nice and warm
Nice ,we have a couple of mini splits great for cooling, dehumidifier ,heat

You guys have accomplished so much. The kitchen is awesome with the green! 🤟
Love the soft green in the kitchen! It really does make the kitchen/dining area much cozier. If I ad another heat source to my home, I will definitely keep your choice in mind. Thank you🤗
Pretty kitchen👍🏻😊
This is the first video I’ve seen in a while. I am not getting daily one. Are you putting them out that often?
Very interesting as we are thinking of heat pump for our home as well.
Your home is beautiful!!
I love the color of the cabinets. They make your kitchen look warm and comfy. I’m so happy that you kids got another heat source. I’ve never heard of, nor seen a heat pump. Your never to old to learn something new.
This is very nice!
Looking fabulous.
Perfection 🥳🥳🥳
Wow, everything lioks so beautiful.
Love love your kitchen! ❤️🙏🦊
Can’t wait! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Looks good👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Your kitchen is looking nice you always do a good job. Glad you got a mini split . They are nice to have . Prayers and Love 💞 From Oklahoma
I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do next!
Your kitchen is beautiful, I love the green cabinets. A wood stove in the kitchen, how cozy. Can’t wait to see new project.
It looks great with the green in the kitchen. The heat pump looks great there.
Love the colors. Maybe the doors in that beautiful green would look pretty nice!
I love your kitchen!
Great job! Our School/Church had those in all the Classroo.s and our Church Sanctuary and they worked great! And they last a long time. They just built an additional building and put them in there also.
Wow I can’t believe you have been in Nova Scotia for three years. Good for you guys to have a heat pump fired to you. Well deserved.👏👏👏👏
We have a mini split in our sun room, it heats a cool’s great. The only issue we have is it’s a room full of windows and the floor gets cold in the winter. Our main Ac and heat doesn’t cover that room well, it was an add on.
Perfect spot for the heat pump. Loving the green cabinets. I a huge minimalist so although you don’t have clutter on your counters etc…it is too much for me
Love the green cabinet
Thanks for sharing.
I love it.
Sounds like this will be the perfect solution!
Awesome Team English❣️💃🏽🕺🏼
Your home is so beautiful
Sumidos ! Amei o projeto ❤️❤️❤️❤️🏡🫂
My son and daughter in law fitted one last year it’s been great swapped out their oil system been so much cheaper
It hit twice! I loved it!!
thanks sorry there was an error the first upload
interesting video !!
Oh I hear Ya our home was built in 1850
Did you ever finish the bathroom
yes :) I will show you this week the reveal :)
Wow
Heat pumps are so convenient! I looked into the ones from Costway before but they don't work in temperatures below -7⁰ so we are looking into other options.
Hmm I’ll look into that
We have a Mitsubishi unit and when the wind blows and or it gets to zero it doesn’t work. But I love it for cooling. I’ll be anxious to see how yours works in the winter.
@@ElysiaEnglish It says it right in the Q&A on their website for the product
what is the name of that paint color
I can only assume you will be running the heat pump on your generator during power outages. Or will you just rely on the wood stove for those times. And use the heat pump as your general heat source in the cold seasons.
Hi hi from Johannesburg south Africa. How is the beekeeping going?
will update you today :)
Where did you get your egg holder?!?! I LOVE it!!!!!!
Amazon :)
I think you need a curtain valance on your kitchen windows to finish the look...
yes i havent found ones yet i want :)
Your kitchen and bathroom are absolutely beautiful. Could you please tell me the color name of that beautiful green and who it's by. Thanks in advance ❤
Happy 2000 subscribers come on let’s see 50,000 love your channel guys. Elisha how do I get a hold of you? I have something for you and the farm. ❤️❤️❤️
I would think the wood stove is too close to cabinetry.
No it’s been inspected
I think you should paint the inner panels inside your pantry door that green!
❤🎉🙏🏻🙌
Horse barn ! For those two beauties …
Coming soon but that’s not the surprise project!
Do the shelves in the same color?
NOT A HEAT PUMP😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yes, you absolutely need to have a back up heat source you can count on. I live in Daytona Beach Florida. We have a heat pump. When lightning struck & killed our AC, I told the repair guy to take out the worthless heat pumps and install central heat. Did the idiot listen to me? Heck no. Another worthless heat pump. When it gets cold here we are talking 32°F. Usually not more than 3 weeks of it. Does not matter how high we set the thermostat we can only get the house temp to 66°F. Too cold for old folks. Researched heat pumps. They allegedly take the hot air outside, heat it up then let it loose in the home. With freezing temps there is NO hot air outside. Hope yours works! Am quite interested to see how you fare with yours. If it works, plan to switch my lousy one for your brand!👍👍
why not a heat pump? 90% of homes in my province have them
Heat pumps are the primary source of heating in all northern European countries. They are more energy efficient than electric panels all the way down to approximately -20 degrees. Why shouldn't they choose a heat pump?
Also that is not how heat pumps work. Go watch a youtube video to learn the science behind it. Unless it is absolute zero outside (-273.13 degrees celsius/-460 degrees Fahrenheit) then there is "warmth" in the air.
I think your problem is heat pumps has to be placed deep enough to access the cooler temps. That’s hard to do in Florida because in most places Florida is practically sea level. She lives in Canada. Big difference.
Yep! Sea level here! Thank you for explaining!
I love you but you need to work on color balance! I am sure you will!
?
What do you mean?
I agree ! What on earth do you mean ?
Oh Elysia mine says 3.1K !!! Congratulations 🎂🎉. Thank you for letting us know of your journey through the years I’ve watched everything go from really sad to amazing love you guys ❤Karen from the Land Down Under 🇦🇺🐨🦘💌
