    • @ejbytes
      @ejbytes Před 8 lety

      Jaden Fox I started and completed a total head this way, but was having problems with extra vertices in the corners of the mouth. I am currently creating my own style after watching tons of videos.
      But to get at your comment. I think I know what you mean. There are shortcuts that aren't explained in many videos. When you press E to extrude, immediately press S to size before you drag/pull. If you want to Size from no edge or vertice, but from all points/vertices equally, you have to press Ctrl. So, Alt + Right click on an edge to select the entire Loop, E, S, Ctrl, then drag. That way your sizing is equal and not restricted to an edge or point. Alt + right click on desired edge-loop, E, S, Ctrl. Press in that order each key.

    It has been befuddling my mind that several people have had this problem. I had my eight year old brother test drive the tutorial and he had no problem, but I think I may have figured it out.
    Clipping in the mirror modifier might be off, pivot point may be set wrong, or maybe you have proportional edit mode turned on.
    The second two of these can be changed at the bottom of the 3d view-port.
    If this helps please let me know, so I can add a note to the video.
    Best of luck modeling.

    Press E for extrude, then right click, then press S to scale, then scale inwards. So basically what your doing is making the extrude but not moving it by deselecting it, then to make it go inwards you scale it with the scale tool.

    All though this technique is quick and pretty effective, in the early construction of your face mesh you are creating edge flow problems in your initial structural center spans that will make animation friendly edge flow more difficult further down the line. At around 02:57 The spans coming from the edge of the mouth are flowing to the back of the cheek bone. These should ideally flow horizontally, with the lip edge central right flowing span ending at the lower cheek pole.

    Pretty good. Seems like an efficient way to do it. Will come back to this once I need character models in my game! :D

    Excellent tutorial, easy to follow. Thanks for sharing!
    I especially liked your flow of creating base geometry around the eyes and mouth and cutting and looping from there. If you re-publish this tutorial for Blender 2.8, it might be good to include a step for how to position the reference art in the workspace.
