I have had gout for almost 10 years and agree with most of your comments. Let me also say that carbohydrates and sugar (bread, cookies with fructose etc.) have been far more of a problem for me. Meat and seafood are fine as long as I avoid carbs, sugar and alcohol. Basically, I’ve food a keto diet clears up my gout, but maybe this doesn’t work for everyone. Anyway, great video! 👍

@@DrTomBiernacki Well I gave you guys an excellent rating! Well deserved! I would also like to mention that Gout to me is something like ‘type 3 diabetes’. I find gout responds well to the same recommended keto diet for diabetes, which I don’t have. I found this out by accident by going on keto to lose weight! :) It cleared up my asthma too!

My first gout attack was 12 years ago. Followed my Rheumatologist diet for 10 years and my uric avid levels would not drop below 7.4.
2 years ago I started a meat based diet. Less than 10% carbohydrates. Today's diet is fatty wild caught fish including mussels and 4 eggs and cheese every morning for breakfast. Lunch is more fish. Dinner is red meat, beef, venison, bison, wild boar, beef mixed with liver and heart (basically a high purine diet) I drink lots of water, exercise daily and lift weights. I eat zero HFCS and no processed foods. Now my uric acid is 6.2 no gout attacks and as a side benefit my HDL is up LDL down and triglycerides are way down. For me the carnivore diet lifestyle works for me, and for my wife it has reversed her pre-diabetes. Both of us have brought our BMI down from obese to low normal. Ha! I had to wait until my 60's to get a six pack. Also no prescription drugs for me or my wife.

I battled gout all summer. I had my first attack when I was 59. Now at 71 I spent the summer in pain. I became very frustrated because non of the prescribed medication seemed to help. Maybe there would be a few days or a week where it cleared but then rapidly returned. Then in October I viewed a You Tube video on gout I found interesting. I changed my diet completely! I gave up sliced turkey breast which I enjoyed a slice or three each day for lunch. Once a week, homemade tomato sauce with macaroni gone! Anything with sugar gone! Bagels with butter four times a week gone! Oatmeal gone! Finally the hardest sacrifice of all PIZZA, GONE!!! New diet, a banana each morning, 16 oz bottle water with 1/2 fresh squeezed lemon juice, salad each afternoon with celery seed and celery blueberries, raspberries crushed walnuts with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. At around 1:00 time for another bottle of water with Lemon juice.
Dinner, in olive oil garlic, onions, peppers, celery browned then add a whole finely chopped cabbage. Cook until tender. Separately pan sauté ground chicken. Another pan brown rice. Once cooked mix all together. Delicious!! I also enjoy skim milk, fat free cottage cheese and a minor amount of American or provolone cheese with eggs. Delicious! I still allow my self one slice of pizza a week. Started this diet October 1 and to date no gout attack.

Hello. I can’t figure out the issue of gout. If a person's kidneys are fine and they are working as they should, then the problem is in the liver. And then I constantly hear from various doctors that they say the liver creates too many uric acid crystals from purines. And they say this is precisely the problem. But no, most likely not in this. We all have copper stellate liver cells someone has more of them, someone has less of them. It is these liver cells that destroy toxins, and uric acid is a toxin for the body. So, apparently, patients with gout do not have enough of these copper cells in the liver. After all, it is they who synthesize = create, build the copper-containing enzyme "uricase". Which breaks down uric acid into water-soluble molecules "allantoin". And these water-soluble molecules are excreted in the urine. It would seem that the issue has been completely resolved. Synthesize the copper-containing enzyme uricase in factories, and periodically put in a dropper to cleanse the body of uric acid. Practical without side effects. But no, for some reason this drug is not in use. Either it is expensive, or it is completely banned, as, for example, in E. S. At the same time in E. S. oligarchs with their corrupt politicians do not produce analogues of the pegloticase krystexxa. And what is prescribed to patients. That's right, pills with a wild amount of side effects of the 70s, 80s.) Well, what if not genocide? People, why do you think the Zion oligarchs are such finished children of the devil?,

My healthcare provider for years was always too slow to see me so it would heal before I saw my podiatrist. So I am 6'-2" 175lbs and decently healthy lifestyle. I guess I naturally run on the more dehydrate side of things so this is something I need to do better on. I will try out the cherry juice because my mom swears by it. Re: sampling joint fluid with syringe/needle. Aren't the uric acid crystals present in the joint all the time not just during the gout attack? Thus the joint could be sampled while it is not painful to confirm a gout diagnosis by the presence of uric acid crystals ... as opposed to calcium pyrophosphate crystals which defines pseudo-gout that requires a different treatment.
The gout attack is the result of a type of auto-immune reaction to the uric acid crystals that are always present, no?

Its very mood dampening for me as I am only 31 and I have been suffering from gout since mid 20s. I've had 6-7 attacks just this year but thats because I had stopped taken allopurinol for 7 months. Is it possible to have gout for over one year?! I am a runner. I also suffered from psoriatic arthritis and was on Remicade infusions for several years. But a year ago I thought I broke my big toe when I kicked something really hard. I didn’t stay off that foot and kept running. My right foot is still so swollen a year later and that big toe joint is hot and red and swollen. When I had it x-rayed at the emergency room I see something in that joint x-ray that looks suspicious. But the emergency room doctor said that the big toe is not broken. I’m wondering if this is gout?

Generally, alcohol if not hydrated, can lead to further dehydration. Every bit can help, but the main thing is getting in as great of shape, having good blood flow, and getting irritation off your feet as much as possible. In these cases, it would have less of an effect.

Hi, i have a question i am having these exact same issues, i was told by a doctor that it is most likely gout but that I would need to see a podiatrist to get an official diagnosis. She recommended me to one but my only issue is that I do not have medical insurance. Is seeing a podiatrist for my gout only going to cost thousands of dollars because that is the only thing preventing me from seeking treatment. The pain is extremely severe. It's been non-stop for about 2 and 1/2 weeks now and the doctor I went to see did prescribe methylprednisone and diclofenac and while it has helped to some degree it has not gotten rid of it. I have completely cut out sodas, taking it very easy on orange juice. Only drinking dairy-free, milks and majorly increasing my water intake and yet the pain is still there. My foot still feels swollen and I can't lift or bend my big toe very much without the pain being excruciating and I have to walk on my foot at an angle just so that it doesn't hurt as bad, but yet it does still hurt even when I do that. I would like to get this taken care of as soon as possible so that I can start exercising to lose weight. As right now I can't run or jog much less walk on this foot. I need the pain to be under control so that I can start getting healthy again so that this doesn't happen in the future but my only issue is money. I live in the Houston area and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a price range for going in and seeing a podiatrist about a gout flare-up with no medical insurance.

Now my discomfort level is hanging around a 0.5 to 1.5 out of 10. I want it totally gone naturally so I am looking for advice how to get there. I have a nutrition coach that has eliminated all red meat seafood from my diet. Only chicken and eggs for protein now. Should I be eating celery stalks? Does over eating chicken cause a gout attack since it still has purines?

    • @meshiu2344
      @meshiu2344 Před rokem

Gout flare ups vary for people. What may cause you to have a flare up may not bother me and vice versa. The best thing to do is keep al little book and pay attention and log your diet. When you have a flare up, check to see what you ate that may have been different from a previous entry. There is a general list of things that tend to cause flare ups (sugar, beer, carbs, red meats etc.) but again for some it differs. For example, I have no issue with carbs or red meats, added sugars and beer though I have to be very careful. Also, if you feel the tingle a day before the flare up, drinking a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water ( mixed well) can stop it right in it's tracks (same with apple cider vinegar in another cup) and doing that 2-3x a week overall can help keep it away. But remember, there's a point of no return during a gout flare up if you don't catch it fast.

Yo bro I feel your pain!! I've had a horrendous gout attack for 12 weeks
      now.
Started in my left knee, went down to left foot then to right foot eventually going into my right knee!! I've been on crutches for 9 weeks as the pain and swelling in my knee has been awful.
My uric acid levels when tested was 8.8 I'm going to lower it naturally so I'm eating one meal a day drinking lots of herbal teas and water with apple cider vinegar in.
This is by far the worst flair up I have ever had as it normally only lasts for around 10 days usually.
Just like you said the pain hasnt left this time. The previous flair up before this one the pain didn't completely leave like it normally does it went down to maybe 1 out of 10 so I could function but still aware of the pain.
I also have swelling on the top of my foot which hasn't left since,
I'm going to beat this just like you brother.
It would be great to connect as we both seem to be on similar journeys.

I came here, as a reg. nurse in Europe with a Kenyan husband, who just had a gout attack in his big toe joint.
It came after being diagnosed with Hepatitis, Malaria, Dengue Fever and having post-Covid and various Kenyan doctors failed to diagnose him for weeks.
He was on all kinds of different drugs, mainly antibiotics, on and off for weeks before getting Podagra.
He is slim, not diabetic, eating normal healthy food. Not a big meat eater. Not a big drinker. Walks s lot. Doesn't smoke.
He drinks a lot of water and it seems that, when he started to recover from the Hepatitis, he seemed to flush out the gout simply be drinking lots of water.
It took him a couple of weeks and he had no idea that he was treating himself. He just likes water and naturally drinks a lot.

I have seen dozens of doctors world wide.... Classified a chronic gout sufferer 25 years ago... Good to hear my life is likely to be shortened but maybe, just maybe the pain of a kidney stone was as bad as a real gout attack.. bye the way when you have to be carried out to the ambulance after 4 days of high fever , hallucinations and peeing sideways off the bed into a bucket and it kinda looks like coca cola, then and only then you have experienced the real bad gout!! If I can make it to a toilet when I need to go if I have bad gout it's not so bad, the pain maybe unbearable but it's not until you just cannot physically get to a toilet then you have a bad attack! Also, yes prednisolone does make you cranky, miserable and tell at people . Also it makes you gain weight...

turmeric and once cooked blueberries, banana, pecans and a square of dark chocolate mixed in. Generally I enjoy that at 10-11:00. That’s it until dinner at 5pm.

I suffer from both Gout and Arthritic feet. I've been trying to do a better diet...my diet was never really bad as I don't drink sugar drinks or eat much sugar products (rarely). But I do eat red meat and big issue with Carbs (Bread is a habit and major cause as it's all highly processed flour.) and I love spaghetti of all kinds. I have found a 4 prong attack for my Gout though that has saved me. Allopurinol every day to keep uric acid down. Then if I do get a flair I take immediately Colchicine (2 then 1hr later 1 and then 1 per day for a 3-5 days) and then If I get a real killing me flair where the pain is so bad I want to chop off my foot, I go for 1 prednisone for 2 days (and that kicks it in the bud fast!) and my final solution is lots and lots of fluids. Water and teas and with tea's I drink things like nettle teas or Turmeric and ginger (very important to remember to add pepper or get tea with tum. and pepper as the pepper helps you absorb the turmeric) . Dandelion works well to as it's an anti-inflammatory. The tea's make you pee a lot. oh and coffee. Basically anything that will cause you to urinate a lot.
2 tips. 1) Always stock up on Prednisone! Have it on hand if you can. I am NEVER without a bottle. Plus my Dr. only gives me 5 at a time and it can go fast and you do not want to have to leave house when your in agony to pick up a prescription.
2). As a snack I make popcorn (NO salt! as salt is bad for arthritic and gout) using real butter (healthy fat and just a small amount just so Turmeric has a fat source which it needs Coconut oil is really good to) and Turmeric powder (with a pinch of pepper, DON'T forget the pepper!). It's a great way to get turmeric into your system and yummy to boot.

I have gout that was caused by a high blood pressure medication that was prescribed to me they have changed my blood pressure medication since then.the first high blood pressure medication and I can't remember what the name of it is cuz this happened about 4 years ago caused my uric acid level to go skyrocket. So when you doctors talks about gout and eating red meat and seafood and all those other types of foods that elevates your uric acid why don't you all include certain medications that will rise your uric acid I think that's just about as important for people to know also.and also think that when doctors are prescribing these types of medications that causes your uric acid to rise or go skyrocket is important that these doctors explains to their patients that there is a high risk that this medication may cause gout.then that way the patients can discuss other medications that would be just as effective for whatever it is that it is being prescribed to them for. So that the patient can avoid the risk of high levels of uric acid and have an onset of gout pain

after one of these videos ,, i tried some 100% cherry (tart) concentrate ..previously ..i was unable to walk on my ankle , my entire foot was so swollen , that it began to turn inward ..
and any movement , was agony i went to my local store and purchased this , diluted it in water and drank it down ..by the end of that that day i was back on my feet .
    let me explain ,
im no where near what i was before my attack but i can function , and when you work on your feet all day, it's key. (i can walk , but i'm not ready to go tap dancin just yet) i liken it removing a large thorne , or other object out your body ..you feel great cause the pain is gone , but you've still got a hole in yer foot ...lol

I take 100mg of allopurinol for uric acid levels and have supportive shoes and prescription orthotics which helps for the pain from bone spurs from gout and osteoarthritis. I also do not consume red meat or alcohol and only minimal table sugar. We think that my gout is entirely hereditary but lifestyle improvements and taking good care of myself has kept the symptoms to a minimum. I also learned how to make my own arch supports for my athletic shoes which has helped tremendously with posture.

He is in stage 4 kidney failure, drinks nothing but soda. Drinks alcohol at least twice a week. His diet is terrible according to gout guides. His gout is in his wrist, where as everything I've seen is in their feet, he has neuropathy in his feet so even if he did get an attack there, I'm not sure he would know or feel it. He hasn't had an attack in about a year since they put him on Alipurinol. But I believe there's only gonna be so much medication can do when he's not changing his lifestyle.

Cut out ALL carbs. No rice, pasta, bread, biscuits-stick to meat, fish, chicken and vegetables-no potatoes. The reason for this is because the carbs turn straight to sugar in the body-avoid all sugars too, sodas, sweets, ice cream etc. Ive found that if i dont drink, on a carnivore diet then it does not occur. Trust me its all about sugars-alot of foods you eat especially processed carbs will cause it. Ditch them and see what happens.

Everything may help, it could help but doesn’t usually. I have tried everything, to no real effect. I am not overweight, 65kg, 58 years old male. I walk between 15000-20000 steps a day. Never drink soft drinks. Even my uric acid levels are normal. In the past , only colchicine helps , with an anti inflammatory. My right wrist is the one i get it most on. Sometimes right toe, not often . Beer seems to be my only trigger, not any foods. Been on Allopinurol for 3 months, and my first couple of beers on Saturday night, first for 3 months. Bang, on cue, felt the flare up coming in my wrist 12 hours later . This time, its only 24 hours of pain due to taking colchicine immediately. I have also been drinking lemon water with acv every morning, without fail. And carrot and celery juices daily. But it seems, my 1 trigger, beer , to be the issue. Got me at my wits end. I can honestly say i have had 10 attacks in past 12 months. After watching countless videos, trying many different things, i am not sure anyone knows how to cure or prevent it.
