I think recovery gear is a great first step. Learn your vehicle and how to control it. Throttle modulation, braking, breakover angle, understanding vehicle spacial awareness, how to pick lines, etc. Most stock vehicles are more capable than the average novice driver.

Got frontier pro4x myself.. went from being a camper, overlander, to now enjoying more off-roading but still want all the overland stuff (trying to minimize)

The real list is, protection, lift, tires. It’s how I did it. When I was ready for tires/regear/lockers, mine were all ready sliced up and cut. What I liked was I didn’t have to re buy tires after having the extra room for larger ones.
Another reason it worked best was because when I got the lift I had a better idea on what springs to get.
We like that you have protection early in your list. Would you do lockers before or after bumpers? Thanks for the comment!
@@RogueOverland bumper would fall under protection. And I would say only the rear bumper is needed. As for the winch, I only make friends that have one.🤣

First mod would be tires followed by seat time on mild trails. Then would be sliders. Ive done poughkeepsie in a stock xterra with just sliders and tires
