What a beautiful sensitively touching reaction. One of the most perfect descriptions I have come across about Lara's entire performance...and yes, the accompanying music was superb, absolutely enhancing the character she was in. Here Lara has become this story and dare I say, never to be parted. Thank you for doing this as a reaction to this song. You put so much more value to what we know about Lara. So, enjoy the journey you have to started.

    More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish), can speak a bit of sicilian, russian and dutch, and has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US.
This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these).
Out of my mind I can list:
    ○ Adagio,
    ○ Mademoiselle Hyde,
    ○ Know/Vocalise/Ascolta La voce
    ○ Love of tired swans
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).
They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: I was told Lara did connect Igor to Dimash after his Adagio cover ; Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio),
    ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime),
    ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie),
    ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow),
    ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace),
    ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow),
    ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow),
    ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow),
    ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime),
    ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you),
    ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Broken Vow),
    ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow)
    ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso),
    ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie),
    ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow),
    ○ Amir (Je t’aime),
    ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio),
    ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade),
    ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade),
    ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you)
    ○ ....
Today, she still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature.
In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada.
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends.
Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations.
This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.

@@alan-reacts65 I've been following Lara for 21 years, I've seen a lot of information, but it's only in my head, I don't take notes. I remember the stories well, I can recall them, but I never cared who published them, where, when, why? I can't find it even after an hour, I rarely store anything. Maybe when Lara was invited (at least 10 years ago on French TV) to a surprise party and interview. They asked questions for a long time, made them speak, and then announced a nice guest (Serge Lama), who stood in front of Lara and started singing Je t'aime and..."Je t'aime LARA". Yes! All the way "Je t'aime LARA!" He had a paper in his hand and he was reading it where he got stuck because he wrote it then, on the way to the studio!!! In the middle, Lara was already sobbing. At the end of the song, he playfully slapped Serge and told him, "You got it!" I hope someone recognizes and confirms these rare gems. Yes , she is one of the greatest vocalists of all time and surely the best performer and emotions conveyer on stage.
That’s why Dimash is her absolute fan and she is a reference to many others.
That’s also why she is always better live than in her music videos: she feeds her soul and emotions from the connection with the audience.
    You referred to Barbra Streisand.
There is a connection between both.
    - First, Barbra is an idol to Lara and Lara covered her several times. Check this live cover of Yentl songs: czcams.com/video/zW8lalHMwxk/video.html
    - on the other side, Barbra highly praises Lara. She had David Foster to organize a dinner with Lara to discuss this rendition of Je suis Malade. Hi there Alan! It was so great to see you going through all those feelings when listening Lara and watching her performance. I remember how i felt when i first heard her about 25 years ago and didn't know who she was. And then couple of years later when i saw this concert for the first time. I was in awe and mesmerized and tried to get my chin from the floor. I had ever seen and heard anybody singing that good and acting and living the songs like that, and all in live concert. I was in love. And been since. She is one of a kind and i think you have already read all the comments and get the picture what it's all about with Lara. Eric "databank" have told the facts and if you read all that, you know quite a bit about Lara. And i can only concur with Eric that Lara is the greatest female singing artist of our time. Even better than Barbra. She is absolutely magical in her live performances, and from the 90's up to the 2013, her live vocals are nothing but superb. After the accident with studio equipment in 2013, (she had a drawback, almost losing her hearing), she lost a little of self confidence, of course due the fact that hearing wasn't normal. It was hard time, but she managed to get past those problems. Still i think it left some uncertainty into her performances, atleast for few occasions. But luckily she didn't lose her hearing and we can still enjoy her great voice. She may not be as intense and exploding in her vocals as before, (less belting perhaps), but still great. Considering that she is 52 now. But you have so much to catch up, so have a great time in doing so. I think in those comments you have a lot of song suggestions...As you know by now she is singing in many languages, so maybe something in italian and english next...Anyway thanks and congratulations for taking the leap into Lara's path. It's a long and enjoyable road! Cheers!

Is it any wonder Dimash watched and listened to Lara sing and literally learned from her how to emote and use his body to express the feeliing of a song. A collection of Lara's wonderful music was videoed around 1999 and 2000. Through the years Lara and Dimash have become very close friends. Both of them have worked with Igor Krutoy and there is a video of a Celebration for Igor at an ice skating rink and Lara and Dimash sing a duet together. LARA with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian of Belgium birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara spent a decade in a Brussels Conservatory studying piano, composition, and voice. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans three octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; in fact, she speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer creates a high level of emotional connection with the listener. She has a discography of over 400 songs, has sold over 30 million records, and plays to sold-out venues worldwide. She lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with her husband and daughter. A “50 at 50” - fifty live performances celebrating her 50th birthday had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 but has been rescheduled as “The Best of Lara”.
The reason why I’m a ‘fan’ is her high level ‘EQ’ emotional intelligence expressed in the text of her songs. La raison pour laquelle je suis un « fan » de Lara Fabian est son « QE » élevé, qu’elle exprime dans le texte de ses chansons.

Serge Lama returned his gratitude by interpreting Lara's own great success "Je t'aime" (I love you). Very emotional.

Everyone likes to compare Lara to Celine Dion but Barbara Streisand is one of Lara's idol so it makes sense that she'd be more comparable to Barbara than Celine! @@alan-reacts65 Music is not competition in the way sports are where the idea is to run fastest, jump highest ect. I know people will continue to compare artists and find similarities between artists. For me I prefer to focus on the artist because I think that's more respectful. Because every artist will have their own inspirational idols, heroes or whatever they call them, but I think most of them don't like to be compared with them all the time.
Imagine if you just been on stage and have given all your heart to the audience and the first you hear is "you sound like Celine Dion"

So many singers look up to Lara Fabian. Youve already seen Dimash. Can I recommend you check out Forestella's version of this song (Je suis malade)? It is different (as it is four male voices), but I was a blubbering wreck by the end. And, they could create a "wall of sound" at the end, which just cant be topped for vocals and emotion. Lara set the bar so high on so many performances.

Yes, Lara loves Barbra. Barbra wanted to sing Broken Vow and want to contact Lara. As Lara recounts the story: her manager arranged for Barbra to call Lara. Not knowing Barbra was going to call - when the phone rang the voice on the other end stated this is Barbra Streisand - Lara's responded: and I'm the Pope and hangs up!! Fortunately, things eventually work out ok and Barbra and Lara went out and had a meal together...

You just mentioned wanna experience the real deal. There's always plenty of concerts, but most New Nashville local shows are Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift new-wave country crap, & up & comers trying to be them! Which if that's what you like, more power to you, but didn't sound like what you wanna see? Events like those just mentioned should probably pop up on Nashville Events Calendar in January, if not all ready? I advice you to see a very emotional version done by the original singer, Serge Lama, which wrote the Lyrics because it was his own true story... You'll see that technically, sure, Lama is a level lower BUT on the emotional part, he is at least at the same level, which is normal as the song is the storytelling of what he was personally living (when he wrote the song and when he was singing it at the beginning)...
