After watching how easy you made i`m considering hanging myself. Yesterday it took me half a day do desolder both chips with BGA desoldering machine after that soldering thin wires to both chips then solder wires on the other side to adapter to programmer(HUGE PAIN). Reading it successfully. After that i look for two same size and Winbond chips, desolder them and write locked dumps to test compatibility with them. It was ok - still locked as expected. Then desolder 16mb chip, use HPUnlocker on it write back, solder. Test voila - half day later job done. But as i was saying after watching your video i`ll start looking for a rope and appropriate tree :))

Strange, my Elitebook 840 G3 has 2 bios chips. Not locked but started to work again after liquid spill cleaning, did full re-install and then suddenly an error 'Shared SPI flash was recovered...' Now it is dead again, only power button led and shiftlock are on, both go out shortly and back on. That is so as soon as adaptor is fitted, no fan no screen. On the MB 3,3V and 5V are there, on 1 bioschip I have steady 3,3V on pin8, but on the other bioschip the voltage is fluctuating 2,0-2,7V on pin8. Any idea's what is wrong?

Is there a clip you can attach to that chip rather than removing it? What size is that ic?

You could also solder jumpers to those little pads beside it.

Sir just only way to downgrade firmware the protected bios is replace bios chips or can we do it without any replacement ? Hp makes planned obsolence on their laptops I think.

Only if you aren't comfortable with a rework station. It's actually quite little work for skilled tech.
