Reminds me of the years I lived in Singapore. God I miss chili crab and pepper crab. Bloody expensive back here in Sydney.
Ate this many times back in the sixties. Singapore street food was awesome and chilli crab was my favourite. Extremely hot!!. Need lots of ice cold tiger to wash it down. First mouthful made you gasp with shock but then you got used to it.

I tend towards black pepper crab at Jumbo. I really wish I'd bought more of the 'cook at home' packs they sell as they were delicious!!!

All looks great with the exception of the peanuts. Being a person who is severely allergic, I would have a problem with that. Can the prep be adjusted for such a thing? They would have to be careful with the oils and utensils that come in contact.
That crab looked delicious! And the sauce looked so rich and thick. Probably could dunk anything in that sauce and make it taste yummy. Lol
In that souce I imagine italian spaghetti or dip matera's bread 🤩

Had this several times in Singapore and never knew the sauce base contained so much peanut! To be frank, I prefer the taste of fish head curry - and a lot easier to eat.

Ate this at East Coast Lagoon food centre back in 2013 or so when I lived in SG. It blew me away and wasnt as hot as I thought it would be.
I agree and the Pepper Crab is equally as good at the East Coast restaurants!
@@rjhm5746I preferred pepper crab, both are amazing and then the buns to dip into the chili sauce, just wow. We always took family or executives to experience this. It was not too pricey back in 2009 time frame compared to US chains.

I wouldn't entered any of these places if I hadn't got at least 300 Singapore dollars to burn.
No two places in Singapore will make chili crab the same way.I didn't see any soy sauce in this one. The video cannot capture the blazing heat of Singapore, plus the unholy 95% humidity, which actually improves the experience of eating chili crab. You start by getting the tips of your fingers a little messy. The sauce progresses up to the palms of you hands. Then the wrists. Done properly, it reaches your elbows by the time you finally finish. Believe it or not, it is not a difficult recipe to duplicate at home. Onion/Shallot, Ginger, Galangal, ketchup, soy sauce, chili sauce, garlic, Dungeness crab or equivalent(blue crab works, but they are a royal pain to eat). Or better yet, a trip to Singapore and a taxi to East Coast Seafood. Or Jumbo Seafood in town or at the airport in the Jewel. Lord I miss the place!
