  • The RhinoAg 4125 is a heavy duty 12' batwing rotary cutter with a 4" cut capacity. It is an investment with Rhino offering 0% financing for 48 months (Jan 2023). My philosophy is that you can always cut lighter material with an HD bush hog but you cannot cut heavier material with a LD bush hog. If you plan to have the implement to make money for 10-15 years, it is a decent investment.

I have used it more now and this is what I've learned. 12' is all my 74 hp tractor can handle in the Florida summer heat. It was struggling a little and running hot. 90 to 110 hp would be better for the size material this cutter can cut. I have since cleaned the air filters and AC radiator and it runs cooler now but still a little on the warm size. I like the size for a few reasons. It is a balance between portability, maneuverability, ease of transportation and cost. I don't do many large open fields where a 15' would be better.

Nice looking piece of equipment. Hopefully it lasts a very long time. Best wishes for 2023.

I'm not far from Crystal River, FL. Most things rust eventually. I keep it under a pole barn so it should last a long time.

I said it back on your 14ac mowing video, a 12' batwing would be a game changer for you. I'm glad to see you got one and are enjoying it so far! What do you think about when you engage it? It can be rough some times.

I am quoting a 250 ac job and it would not be an option without a cutter this size. It will still be a challenge at 20 ac a day for 12+ days. What would you charge per acre for simple field mowing?
Update - job never happened. The owner stood me up after I drove 40 minutes to meet him so I never pursued it again.

@@EronIler I figure the mowing time first and shoot for $120 an hour. If they want an estimate per acre I figure it off of that. This covers all maintenance, travel and operating costs for the tractor, cutter and my hauling equipment and the most expensive part, my time. I have some larger nice smooth fields that average $35 an acre and I have several small pastures that average $150 an acre. In my area anyone that owns 250 acres has a means of mowing it themselves so I have never done anything that big. I have done a couple of larger jobs for the local cities but never more that about 10 acres for an individual. The money for me is in the 2 acre and less "pastures." I personally would shy away from a 250 acre job. It would pay great for sure but I don't like obligating myself for such a long time on one job just for mowing.

Hard to tell but do You still have the Clevis "Hammer Strap" on the Tractor Drawbar. FYI you should only run one Clevis Hitch at a Time. Since the 4125 has clevis on Flex Wing Cutter take the Hammer Strap off the Tractor and it will make it easier to hitch. Also the Round Hole is the top side of the clevis and slotted side is the bottom on the 4125. The 4125 should have the Easy Lock PTO Shaft Coupler if you Pull Back it should lock so you can use both hands to handle the Constant Velocity CV PTO Shaft. One tip a customer told me he use a Bungy Strap or Rope from Hitch Arm to Hitch Arm and uses the 3 Point Hitch Arm to Raise/Lower Shaft tto make it easier to connect. Once done be sure to Raise or Lower the arms to keep them out of the PTO Shaft when Turning, Love the Video just wanted to offer some tips and can't wait to see some more videos of it in action.

Thanks for the input. I’m a rookie with this so any tips help. I can see how each suggestion makes complete sense. I would have left the hammer hitch on forever. Using the lower arms to lift the shaft is genius. I didn’t know the collar locked back but that will make it much easier with both hands pushing on the shaft. Thank you!
Do you have any tips on trailering with a tractor?

Thank you very much for the video. Very nice cutter. I came close to buying this exact model at the end of last season, but got cold feet at the last minute, because I think I might should get a 15'. My tractor is a new JD 5090M, so 75PTO hp. I only mow for myself, usually just tall grass fields here at the farm, about 40 acres to mow, but I have other properties as well that I may mow in the future but rarely.
Do you have any regrets at all getting a 12'? The 15' appeals to me because I could mow further up under the trees at the edge of the field without running the tractor cab through the tree limbs. Another thing is with a 15', the tractor tires would seem to line up better with the main hinges on the wings, so when mowing in a ditch, the wings might follow the ground better, as well as reaching further up the bank, but I could be totally wrong about this. My only experience mowing is with the 7' straight bushhog I have now.
Do you wish you had a third valve so you would have independent control of the wings? I am thinking of adding that before I buy. It seems with independent wing control that I could hang one wing in the air if mowing on the top of a very steep bank, or raise one wing up at a 45 degree angle to mow privet or low hanging tree limbs at the edge of trails.
Sorry for all the questions. Enjoy!

I have not used it much yet so I don’t have a well qualified reply. I will say one big consideration is moving it. Getting the rug on a trailer is something I stress over. If you won’t have to trailer it and can afford it, why not get a bigger mower. You logic all sounds reasonable for your application. I always say buy as much as you can afford. You can use less HP or mowing size if you want but you can never add more after the purchase. I have bought many smaller things only to buy a bigger one later and losing money in the trade.

Yes, I ended up getting a decent deal on a 3150. The 5090M runs it well. It will bog down just slightly when the Johnson grass is thick and 10' tall, so I wouldn't want less hp than that for such a big cutter. After running it for a few months, I see no need for a third valve to lift the wings independently. I love how it will reach up under the trees at the edge of the field without getting the tractor mirrors into the limbs.
The biggest difference is the tow behind design just does a fantastic job cutting grass while turning compared to a three point hitch mounted cutter. My 7' three point hitch mounted Bushhog pushes the grass sideways when turning, and wont cut it cleanly. With sharp blades the 3150 almost looks like a finish mower cut the lawn. Great cutter. @@OtterCreekFarm

@@darthnatas953 I was able to get a $3500 job because I could do it faster with the bigger cutter. Others with 6’ cutters are bidding $5k because it will take forever for them to get it done. I can see some applications for lifting the wings independently but it hasn’t stopped me yet.

Love your videos, but I bought a 10' flexwing mower, leaks fluid from day 1. Emailed them asking for the part so I could fix it, and even willing to pay for the part even though its brand new and defective. Basicly told me to go f my self! I recommend before you buy anything from them, try to get a part for the item you want to buy and see what happens.
