    Ive had a toothbrush for three years and it started making weird noises, and I didn't have warranty anymore. You saved me a lot of money since I bought it for €75. It was literally the first screw you pointed out, and the magnet was against the coil. Thanks. You're a hero!

    This worked on a Philips Sonicare Diamondclean. The magnet was right up against the motor. I undid the second screw and prised the magnet off before tightening the screw up leaving a gap, and the toothbrush is fixed! Thank you!

    Mario - you saved me $400. I had four toothbrush that had this same issue. I could fix all of those. I had problem taking out the motor assembly for the first one. I had to pull it hard and I could take it out. Thanks for your video and I have become a subscriber.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  Před 4 lety

      Great, and thank you! one extra tip, make sure there is some sort of sealer lubricant on the rubber tip that passes through the body. If not you could get moisture inside the toothbrush.

  • @valintepes
    @valintepes Před 4 lety +1

    Thanks for the vid man! Really helped me out. Regarding the spacing. I would imagine small as possible would be best, as long as they aren't touching. Magnetic drop off being 1/r^2 and all.
    For everyone else looking for tips, quickest fix, after disassembly, is to loosen the two screws around the electromagnet, pry it away from the neodymium mag with a really small flathead or like a paring knife, then screw the screws back in lightly. Then you can remove the knife/flathead and tighten better. It'll still sound loud at first, so reassemble before checking if you did a good job. Thanks again, and good luck to everyone else!

    Thanks for a great video that showed me how to fix my toothbrush! To remove the inner works, I just tightened a clamp as illustrated and then pushed the steel stem on the opposite end against a hard surface, and the whole inner component popped loose and out.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  Před 5 lety

      That's great! one extra thing I want to mention that in the description, if you handled the rubber top too much, you may wipe away some of it sealing ability. You may want to make sure that it does have some type of oil or Vaseline so that it creates a tight seal at the top.

    @rxchrist Před 3 lety +1

    Mario, thank you for posting this. I have a more recent version of the toothbrush and had the exact same problem. You saved me 200$. One thing I noticed is that when the magnet shifted, the brush pressure warning light stopped working. Might be helpful for people trying to diagnose.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  Před 3 lety

      I didn't have any warning lights on mine. Perhaps it's just the newer model?

    • @rxchrist
      @rxchrist Před 3 lety +1

      @@m3rdpwr the newer DiamondClean units have a different plug at the base. More challenging to remove. It also has a clear ring that lights up. When you press too hard when brushing, the handle pulses three times and purple LEDs flash through the base. It may be that the internals flex enough to change the distance between the coil and magnet causing a measurable change in induction.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  Před 3 lety

      @@rxchrist that makes sense. I know people who treat the diamond clean like a regular toothbrush with more pressure. Doing that, causes the head of the unit to come loose via the two screws that hold it in place.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  Před 5 lety

      Just be gentle with that clamp.
      Also, I added a note above later.
      Be sure you don't wipe the sealing grease from the rubber top to the plastic casing.
      That prevents water seepage.
      If you do wipe it off accidentally, some sort of light oil or maybe even Vaseline should be okay.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  Před 5 lety

      That's great, let us know how it goes. Remember not to tighten the base too much with the clamp. Also, you may want to wipe the metal contacts before reassembling if you touched then with your hand. Qtip and isopropyl alcohol is a good choice.

    • @gwomp61

    Just tried this today on my Toof brush today and worked like a charm just Be mindfull that the red wires get stretched a little bit when you remove the circuit board you dont have to pull it down and away you slide it all the way up till it bottoms out then it comes out super easy but you have to remove the bottom preload spring thingy, anyways i did this and one of the red wires was touching the metal gray part and was causing a minor Short Toof Brush wouldnt stay on so make sure red wires are not touching anything metal esides the part where it is sauder'd Thanks for the vid i wouldn't a thunk it on ma own.

    Too cool and too simple. Using a credit card to re-gap the coil magnet made both my toothbrushes work much better. At first, I thought only one toothbrush was broke. After adding the slight air gap, it worked much better even than the one I thought was still working. So I gaped the "working" one too and now it works much better as well - much more intense!

      If you are referring to the shaft that protrudes out the top, yes. Same procedure, bit there is a screwdriver on top to tighten. As long as it isn't broken, should work. You may need to reseal the rubber ring, so water doesn't leak in.
