Hi Smokie, thanks for the video, some great info & advice on purchasing stamps! I would never be able to afford stamps like that so I'm grateful for the stamps I can get on my budget! Have a great weekend

It's the same with me actually - I have some valuable stamps, however, the wast majority is common stuff, which I like the same way as I like those valuable stamps. 👍 Philately is a great hobby, no matter the value of the colleciton!

If one cannot have fun with any hobby, and learn from it, why participate in that hobby? For me, philately is for fun and to learn about this world. Thanks for another good video !

I fully agree - it must make fun at the first place. 👍 And if my kids make money on it when I pass by, ... it depends whether I bought wiselly...

Radek is indeed a very knowledgeable scholar/buyer/ seller of philatelic items. He features fantastic items and dispenses very well thought our information that is useful to investors but also can benefit any collectors. I also wheel and deal in antiques but i will never sell a stamp because I also buy them because I love them. I also will probably never have any investment grade stamps in my collection which is why I also collect old auction catalogs and any quality publications regarding philately. That way I can look at items rarely seen much less sold on a regular basis. Good episode! Subscribed.

Very interesting video and topic! For me is just as it's for you. It's a fun hobby. I don't have a large budget, so if I can, I will buy something that I truly like. I don't care about special stamps, not because I don't value them or don't find them interesting, but if I don't have the money, it's just a no for me. It's a conscious choice not to frustrate when I can't have a stamp.

I agree that part of the fun of the hobby is collecting what you as a collector like. In my opinion it is the collector who gives each stamp real value as we like it enough to add it to our collection. Thanks for watching!

Hi Smokey, this was a great video. Thanks! For me it is also about the joy of stamps and not for investing per se (I cannot afford that anyway) and I like all stamps for reasons like beauty, art, history etc., and it doesn't matter whether they are common and cheap or maybe more valuable. But, like all the knowledge one gathers about stamps (and I think the more knowledge you have about an object, the more joy you get from it, and the more you really SEE it], value of a stamp also tells you something. A rare and valuable stamp will also bring joy partly because of that. ... I am rambling! 🙂😆And I don't think I am expressing what I want to say. 🙃🙂....... I also watch Radek's videos. It is highly informative and interesting!

Hello Charnie! I totally agree with you! I love what you said about the more knowledge you have about an object, the more joy you get from it. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment on my videos!!

For me it's fun althought there is some substantial money put in my collection. I wouldn't call it an investment because I'm not sure if there would be any significant profit from selling it.

I agree the worth is in the enjoyment we get from collecting. Any other value is a bonus. Thanks for watching!

99% of stamps are not really suitable for investment. There are some valuable items, which appreciate very well, as long as you stick to some rules - you have to buy it for a reasonable price, you have to go for quality and it must be stamps with demand. If you have a unique stamp which is very rare but there is no demand (nobody wants it), it has ZERO value... I have written a whole book on this topic, issued some 3 years ago in Czech, sold over 2.000 pieces. this year it will be published in German and English as well 👍. But as you said - philately must be fun at the first place! A totally agree with you!
