The hour long marathon videos make my legs fall asleep as I sit on the toilet

It’s the smell…..
I like the hour long videos, especially while I'm reloading.
Thanks for putting all the work into these videos. I realize how much time you spend but I am truly grateful for your efforts for us all.
I really like the longer videos, good stuff.
I have to say I LOVE my 6.5 Compass and have shot some really good groups with IMR4451(couldn't find the mythical H4350), also had good results with Hodgdon Hybrid 100V. Finally got a pound of the H4350 and loaded 50 with the Hornady 140gr Match but have not been to the range yet.. Just ordered a Faxon 18 inch 308 barrel so should be able to follow you on the 308 videos... looking forward to that series! Thank you Johnny for all your work with these series I know that this is very time consuming, but you do such a great job and I really look forward to watching them.
Thank you for saving me big money🥰 I watch your videos and use your info to give me a starting point without big bucks! Thanks again 👍
Yup. Ready for the .308 vids. Mine will be done in about 2 weeks, getting my 20" BA premium series barrel flutted and ceracoated now and fixing to order a 15" Midwest Industries suppressor ready handguard to have waiting for return of the barrel. Also have a nephew doing a build as well will get an 18" BA barrel.
For long range precision shooting , I anneal my brass every second firing. Keeps ES and SD nicecand tight. With those bullets I use Reload Swiss 62 which is almost identical in energy and burn rate and density to h4350. Using small primer brass I shoot 2600 fos with half moa groups and low sd with a 140sst and 42.6gr RS62 or 44gr RS62 and a 139 scenar for 2700fps and SD of 10.
Wow! Crazy to see those groups from the Thompson, speaks volumes about how great Reloading is it can turn just about any gun into a real shooter. Great shooting on your part as well as reloading process. Thanks for the videos man I know they’re a lot of work time and money but many people sure do appreciate it. Til next time! 🍻
Thanks for all you do Jonneys 4451 is my favorite powder
I like the hour long videos my self. And I bet that rl22 is going to be a good one in the Creedmoor I think that cartridge is better suited for a bit slower powders
RL22 is an amazing powder
Great video. I second what you said about group sizes and SDs not matching up very often. My 7mm-08 load consistently runs at opposites. The most consistent velocities align with the largest groups, and vice versa.
That unfortunately doesn't help out at distance.
I wonder how this is with the satterly 10 shot method is all about low sd
Great results! IMR4451 seems to be a good accuracy powder. I will need to get some of those bullets to see if my gun will shoot small groups with this combo. Thanks for the excellent data and keep up the good work!
Ready for some .308 videos just got a POF AR I’ve already reloaded some 168gn Berger vld with awesome results!!
Looks like 4451 is working out quite well in the accuracy dept. Velocity though needs a boost to send it over the top if accuracy can be as stable as seen here. I also believe maybe your eyes are getting tired as the day goes on, I take that into account with the loadings with Re-22 witnessed in his video. I know that you are trying to compress "As I mentioned in the close of the last Video, This video is a completion of the combined, Please Play both in one Meeting". You work hard at providing the best content Johnny, It is considered in the accuracy you show as results in your findings. Keep up the Good work. It IS appreciated. Dave.
I hope this CZcams rules don't ruin your channel man. Love your videos would hate to see them go.
YOU TUBE, GOGGLE IS A MONOPOLY . i thought the US had laws against monopolies ? AKA: Standard Oil ? i have learned sooo much from your channel. your a good guy that speaks well, regular guy, pays his taxes, ect. i'm so mad right now and bet you are. there has to be another platform made soon for good people to learn from !!!!!!!!!
Nice!... Let's see some h1000 sometime in the future of your 6.5 creeds... Thanks for the vids!!
New t-shirt saying ‘its all good brother’ lol
Great video brother. I'm considering buying or building a 6.5 creedmore and this will make load dev. so much easier. Thank you
Nathan
You ran much higher charges of the RL22 in that brass than I could ever hope for. I found that the Starline brass has much thicker walls and as such, the compressed loads in comparison to Hornady brass. At 46.0 grains, with 140 grain Berger VLDs, I can load the Hornady brass and attain 2800fps without pressure signs. With the Starling brass, I am loading 42.0 grains and getting 2700fps before signs of pressure. Now, I am using the two different loadings in two different rifles and have tailored the loads to the individual rifle, and the rifle using the starline brass does seem to have a tighter chamber and is more prone to generating higher pressures.
looking forward to the AR-10 project, I am in the process of building mine. Should have it done by fall of this year. What barrels are you going with?
For what it's worth, my favorite powder with the CZ 550 in 6.5 X 55 Swedish is Re22 with Federal 215's and Hornady brass. Several bullet types have worked ok. It can shoot 1-1.25 moa, but I've never been able to break through to a smaller group. I've gotten to about 5/8 with both a .22 K Hornet and .300 Win. Mag., but just can't get there with the Swede. Hopefully, some of your Creedmoor ideas will help me with my efforts since the ballistic performance is virtually identical. Thanks for your videos. You are one of my top three gun bloggers.
I love to see the sub-10 standard deviations! I think you need to find some reloader 16, I am getting standard deviations of 3-6 FPS at 2920fps with 43 grains of RL 16 under 143 ELD-X out of my browning 26” Creedmoor. the accuracy wasn’t super exceptional I was getting ~0.9” at 100 yards, but at the velocities I was seeing I am not going to complain. I’m loving the Creedmoor videos!
I absolutely love your videos, very well done and informative. Keep up the great work.
The only thing that drives me crazy lol...is how you are keeping track of your loads. Maybe you have them marked and I can’t see it. But when I am doing load development, I always use a sharpie to write the charge on the side of the brass, that way I don’t mix them up while loading, shooting and afterwards for the amazing box of brass primer check part haha.
You can also color the ogive of the bullets and they will leave colored witness marks on white paper for ladder type tests. This works great at the longer yardages.
Anyways, thanks again for the great videos. God bless,
Jarrod
Any chance we can see the 147 ELD-M?
Glad to see that the annealing seemed to be a improvement. I have just started to use some RL22 with the 147 and seemed to have some large plateaus. I guess with the accuracy you got from imr 4451 I need to try it out myself.
4451 drought is happening in 3-2-1............
Superdude70 no. I was totally joking around Witt my comment 2 years ago
Your videos are so informative and helpful. I hope that if youtube decides to take your channel down you choose to upload your videos and continue on a different platform!
10 shot groups on the really accurate ones. If you're hunting prairie dogs then you're going to shoot no cold Barrel., great video brother keep up the good work starting to learn a lot and save me a lot of research time I might even go buy one of them TC's now
I have been seeing scuttle butt that next month videos regarding the manufacture of ammunition will violate CZcams policy.
H4350 is where it’s at man. I messed with 4451 for a while but as soon as I got my hands on 4350 my velocities went way up my SD went way down and my groups are sub MOA all day.
Would it be possible to go back to a load from pre-annealed brass with known data and try it again to see what kind of difference annealing makes.
This! I want to see an actual test!
That would be a good test.
You're a bad influence, Johnny! Now I want a 6.5 Creedmoor!
Yissnakk Lives! Yes he is. I just bought one and they're having a $75 rebate.
I'd like to see you try out different loads with the hornady 140 eld-m
Dude I never would have guessed that cheap ass rifle would shoot like that! Incredible.
Aaron Anderson and it’s more amazing because rifles that cost several times as much from a couple decades ago don’t shoot like that.... it’s amazing what technology can do.
spyderxtra777 I know. I have a rifle made by Fred Sinclair himself. 5000 dollars AT THE TIME. 30 Years ago.
5R rifling is a game changer
in which regard? I'm familiar with the benefits but not a big believer in many of them however cleaning is noticeable.
Great video Johnny!
When CZcams comes after you and your channel, do you have a backup plan on a place to post your videos? The sight “Full30” is 2A friendly and quite a few you tubers are moving there. Like Hickock45, 22Plinkster and many others..
Hey, Johnny, any news on those "Dont blow your face off" bench mats?
Damn son, that is some shooting!
New rules from CZcams = Showing ammo being reloaded is cause for banishment! Info from Mac at Military Arms Channel.
TexasLonghornRanch this is terrible news. I’ve learned so much from reloading videos!
Hey Johnny with this 140gr bullet I noticed you used rl 17, 22 and 26 but you skipped rl19. My pet load with these hornady 140 bthp match bullets is 46.5 grains of 19 seated at 2.810 using hornady brass with cci large rifle primers. 2765fps and it shot 0.4 MOA at 100 yards out of my ruger American predator. Funny thing is I used .5 grain increments starting from 45 grains and all the groups were under .7 MOA and the point of impact hardly shifted. SD was 7.5 fps.
RL 22 is one of my favorites in my 25-06
I love RL22 in my 7mm rem mag
I never shot above 39.9 IMR4451 w/ Berger 140's. It was 2608FPS w/ SD = 6. Not super fast for a 26 inch tube but It's truly quarter MOA. Scored Master on an F-class match with it.
Aaron Anderson just imagine what node you could be missing at a higher speed also then..... Would make it even better for downrange ballistics also. Less drop and less wind drift..
Like you saw in the video IMR4451 started falling apart at higher velocities. In F-Class I don't really care what the velocity is, as long as it's absolutely consistent and the gun shoots the same EVERY TIME. I did that at the specs I shared above.
I have seating depth issues with this bullet, and have no idea why.
I´m using a Forster precision seating die, which performs flawless with other bullets, brass is neck uniformed.
I get seating depth variatons of up to .035".
Any idea why?
Will your gun shoot the exact same groups without the magneto speed attached. I would like one but am afraid it will affect the barrel harmoics.
I like the 130 gr Norma Diamondline with H4350...just tack drivers
Great groups with that Enduron 4451..been meaning to try some..
I watch your videos and for some reason the AR10 and your bolt action long guns shoot the center of the orange dots, but that darn AR15 always shoots right and by a lot to the right. Cant you work the scope to get it closer to the orange dot? Just asking for a friend.
I shoot 59 gr R22 in my 30-06 with a170 grain sierra BTHP, it shoots really well.
any plans of testing the ELDM with 4451? How about the ELDM and the BTHPM with H4350?
Thank you Mopar! :) also I'm stoked about the new build. What twist rate were you able to get on the 6.5 AR barrel?? I really wish we/you had a faster twist to play around with. That also goes for the 224 barrel you have.
So I have the same exact rifle. Would you say a load of IMR-4451 at 41.7gr would be a good safe load with hornady 140s?
5 mins in and wondering is jrb gonna be pulling bullets lol love the videos and content
What's better???? Tight groups and moderate speed or moderate groups and high speed....
I’m hoping you’ll do more with RL-22 and run direct comparisons to the RL-26, with hunting bullets!!
have you seen the new policy changes youtube has made? its not lookin good...
I’ve been using the same load in my creedmoor for years. 42.5gr of the 4451 pushing 2725fps with 140 Berger hybrid out of my 24” savage stealth. It’s about a 1/4” moa round at 100yds so definitely a tack driver, but I’d like to get some more velocity. Might have to try some reloader!
Sorry for my typo that’s 2625fps!
I would be very interested in what the RL22 would do with large rifle magnum primers.
I use RL22 with the federal 215’s on my 7mm rem mag amazing velocity and accuracy
Have you used these bullets in 6.5cm using Staball 6.5 not gonna lie looking for a good place to start
That 4451, 41.6 or 41.9...I "NODE" it!
I also found 41.6 to be a "node" for "tighter" brass.
Super job. Keep up the good work
I've discovered that I can change the trigger sensitivity by adjusting the tightness of the rear action screw. If I use 10# of torque, I get 5# of pull on the trigger. I add Loctite to the screw beforehand. I also replaced the trigger spring and adjusted the internal trigger screw.
Had great success with Varget and Hornady Match bullet. imgur.com/NZEXkEx
I really enjoy your videos. My 6.5 Creedmoor shoots great thanks to the information you've given. My compass shoots consistently under an inch at 100 yards. I was wondering if you would be interested in trying Barnes X bullet's in either your Creedmoor or your Valkerie
I'm getting velocities right around 2800 with 41,9 grains of the IMR 4451, Hornady brass, 140 grain BTHP or ELD-M. 24 inch Mcrees Precision 6.5 CM
For the 4451 groups of 41.6 and 41.9, it would be nice to see the grouping at 2 or 300 yards. At that range the groups will open a bit and we could see which group stays tighter.
Also, you seem to always get a first shot shift (cold rifle), maybe a bedding job might help with that. Not really a big deal if your not hunting with it.
I second that
So what are you going to do with CZcams's new ruling? Reloading ammo will be a cause for channel deletion.
Policies on content featuring firearms
CZcams prohibits certain kinds of content featuring firearms. Specifically, we don’t allow content that:
Intends to sell firearms or certain firearms accessories through direct sales (e.g., private sales by individuals) or links to sites that sell these items. These accessories include but may not be limited to accessories that enable a firearm to simulate automatic fire or convert a firearm to automatic fire (e.g., bump stocks, gatling triggers, drop-in auto sears, conversion kits), and high capacity magazines (i.e., magazines or belts carrying more than 30 rounds).Provides instructions on manufacturing a firearm, ammunition, high capacity magazine, homemade silencers/suppressors, or certain firearms accessories such as those listed above. This also includes instructions on how to convert a firearm to automatic or simulated automatic firing capabilities.Shows users how to install the above-mentioned accessories or modifications.
BTW this is going to kill my channel as well.
Have you noticed any issues with 22 temp hot days vs cold days
I really hope you do some load development with h4831sc and 140-147 pills. I can always find it and it seems to shoot well out of my 6.5 cm just found your channel and love the detail you go into for reloading and your explanations.
Hey Johnny, love the channel! I would really enjoy hearing your opinion about dies. Not even limited to one specific cartridge, more just in general. What do you like about each of the manufacturers? Also, its sometimes tough to open them up in the store and look at what they'll be like before you buy them, so maybe some up close shots of a variety of sizing / seating dies. Would you always just buy a box set of dies, or are there situations when you would choose them separately? Obviously a lot of that info has been covered bit by bit in previous videos, but I think having it all in one place would be helpful to me and others when looking at which dies to buy.
I would pick 41.1g of reloader22 and do seating depth load looks stable to me
Why is Standard Deviation considered so magical? The best groups were shot with the worst SD in each powder. I agree that consistent velocity from shot to shot would imply bullet strikes in the same spot. But I don't experience that. Some other factor(s) must be at play! I find that Extreme Spread is more indicative of accurate groups.
What sizing die do you use? I started out using a Redding bushing die, but it kept knocking the concentricity out .002 or more.
Please do a .257 Roberts series!
Jim Guthrie I second that, but I imagine it wouldn’t have the viewership for Johnny to justify it. I’ve always want a .257 Bob. Getting harder and harder to find this caliber in factory rifles. How easy is it to find brass for it?
Other guys are talking about how CZcams just banned video's of how to make homemade "Silencers, Guns, and Ammuntion" today.. 3/20/18 Your reloading videos have been a great help to many and I think you might want to back up your content to a remote hard drive so you can reupload them onto a different platform should this material be deleted by CZcams.
I have a suggestion. You always mention ejector marks and maybe they're new maybe they're old. Before you shoot, check for marks and mark them with a marker spot so you know.
Maybe a stupid question, but you seem obsessed by velocity instead of finding a good group at « lower » speeds. Why? :p
As an experiment I'd seat the bullet till it just touches the powder charge in the RL22.
Now to see if my Cabelas stocks IMR-4451. Thats good shooting!
Time to get ready for Full30. I signed up this morning. Boycott CZcams and Google!
This show can be seen on Patreon.com
Do you ever use Diamondline bullets in your videos
Is there another place to stay in touch with this channel considering all the CZcams changes? Is your Patreon page the best place? That way if it moves to another platform I can find it. Just bought a 6.5 creedmore and I have watched a majority of this videos on this channel and love it.
Johnny, youtube has change its policies to prohibit videos on the manufacturing of guns and ammunition. I was wondering if you were aware of this and I hope that you're wonderful videos are backed up.
Why would the impact points drop with RL22 as the velocity increases?
Had to come back to this vid bc there's no fresh one to post on how's CZcams rule announcement going to effect your channel they prohibit content showing how to manufacture ammunition
Those were some awesome groups with the 4451! But the big question is will those groups remain that size once you take the magneto-speed off the muzzle? I bet those groups would disperse a bit.
JRB Nice groups! Have you tried a dry fire when you first start shooting? This may help eliminate the cold first shot flyer, or identify it. Nice job brother!
You do realize that the chronograph is messing with the barrel harmonics?
Dang, I always wonder where you come up with these powder choices!
Tack!
Johnny! Long time follower, please try out some 130gr nosler RDF’s in your 6.5 grendel! Look like an awesome heavy projo to load!
Hey Johnny have you got an alternative platform in mind for when the new CZcams rules kick in?
Would love to see your tests duplicated without the use of a silencer and chronograph hanging off the end of the barrel. I am a firm believer in dialing in loads to meet barrel harmonics and I just don't see how that would be possible with the silencer and chronograph having outside influences on the barrel harmonics.
If you’re going to use the rifle with the suppressor, wouldn’t it make sense to develop your load with it in place? Understood about the chronograph though.
Wow impressive what you did with that 4451 never would have expected this! I wonder how your rdf would end up since you stopped before 41 last time! Maybe give it another try? ;P
Loving the results. Wonder what it would do with the 143 eld-x!
How will CZcams’s new stance effect your videos?
What happened to the eld-x ? Thought you liked that.
How many loads before you annealed? Thanks!
Are you not using your chamber chiller anymore?
What u gonna do if uturds stops reloading channels. Just be on patreon, full30 or what just curious
try rl-22 in your win mag.. mine loves it..
