#nope #movie #reaction - Zábava
Jupe thinks he's special (in regards to animals) because he survived. But it was only due to luck. His eye focus was on the standup shoe. (the bad miracle) And his eyes were covered by the table cloth hanging over the table. The monkey interpreted this as cowering in 'respect'. Thus the fist bump.
Jupe is traumatized so he disassociates from the real event by telling the tale through the SNL skit version of the story.
He thinks him being special will allow him to tame the alien. And was 'training it' by giving horses.
But alas, he was wrong.
he was training it the same way someone trains a wild bear by feeding it. once the food is held back, the animal quickly becomes angry and attacks the one that fed it
Except even he thought it was a flying craft, inhabited by Aliens, so while he didn’t think he was taming an animal, the theme is still relevant.
alas, my love. perhaps one day we shall walk among these feeble trees as they consume our souls to the bottomless oceans. oh my dear, perhaps we shall see a 🦌
hes one o those lunatics that thinks he has something special on him despite it being easily explained by biology
same with bear man who was sure he would never be attacked by a bear since he understood them better than anyone and ended up being eaten alive with his gf on a trip to alaska
Really? I thought it was because he wasn't looking directly at Gordy, but through the tablecloth.
The shot at the end with the brother on the horse at the entrance of the park is framed to look like the first motion picture with the great, great, great, grandfather on the horse
He's sideways on a horse, it doesn't explicitly give the same vibes or they would have shown it running slow motion against a white backdrop.
@@carlotta4th I think relating the final shot with the ancestor on the horse is an interesting idea. Hollywood attempted to forget the true history of this Black family's contribution to motion picture history, taking it all for themselves. This makes the final shot of O.J. sitting on a horse even more meaningful. They got their Oprah shot, and no one can erase or take that away from them (this time). I don't know if this was Jordan Peels's intention, but it's a great way to tie everything together.
OJ having been sitting uptop the horse under the Out Yonder sign has always made me feel that Lucky and him are actually ghosts. I could hear a horse shriek during OJs stand off with Jean Jacket. And since OJ doesn't come rushing up to his sister at the end tells me that it isn't really happening.
gordy is important because it explains why Jupe wanted to profit off of jean jacket so bad. He never dealt with that trauma, he just passed it onto trying to use jean jacket in a way they couldn’t use gordy.
Right. The movie is also largely about how humans have always manipulated nature for their own entertainment or gratification and forced natural forces into human-defined roles/narratives.
The fact that the "alien" looks both like a weather balloon and a biblical angel, hints at the wider scope of humans' misinterpretation of random natural forces.
@@V.elociraptor I *love* that about this movie, so much.
I'm an atheist, but I grew up reading the bible, and it's like every TINY detail put into Jean Jacket is a call back: to both reports of those 'alien-was-just-a-weather-balloon' stories, and old religious accounts.
Jean Jacket _sounds_ the way the bible describes the arrival or appearance of god -- it sounds like the blowing of horns, choruses; and low, multiple voices. Remembering the way they would often say, 'No one can look at god and live', had me half-grimacing, imagining the way folks way back in the day might have interacted with this creature, within the universe of the movie...dudes in robes being swept up by this thing while everyone else averts their gaze and worships. 😅
And I wonder about further implications. Like, I get that Gordy was a wild animal and that exploitation of them can't but go wrong some of the time, that Jupe was deeply affected by him, and that's why gordy's part of the story...
But it also feels like the fact that his gift being a bunch of reflective balloons which floated around and popped is pointing, perhaps, to there being a history there. Like, if monkeys lived in a world with these creatures flying around, then of _course_ there would be an added reason for them to be disquieted by floating reflective shapes, and to completely freak out once those shapes make popping noises. They have an instinct around being hunted by these things, from an evolutionary standpoint.
Most ppl will never understand so stay 💯💯
That one part with the kids pretending to be the aliens was SO SCARY to me, like I was shook asf
Me too, until he punched the alien, I started laughing so hard.
I was disappointed it was fake 😔 as soon as it was obvious it was a animal I hated it
IKR THAT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME😬😬😬
Gordy was the scariest to me, I'd watch a full movie about that
@@mraarontorres yeah I was kinda disappointed because they were sublime.
It drives me nuts when people say that this movie is dumb and makes not sense.
Edit I just realized I say “makes not sense” damn you autocorrect! I meant and makes NO sense.
This is probably my favorite movie from Jordan Peele
Wasn't it Logan Paul who made that terrible twitter thread 😭
What are you talking about
It makes a lot of sense, people just don't want to do the work and figure it out because they expect every movie plot to come easy to them
@@allenpayne927 I mean there's nothing to "Figure out" all you have to do is pay attention and the whole plot is simple to understand 😂
Gordy signing says "What happened to family?". Which shows that he doesn't understand what he has done when in a panicked state.
Also, for me, OJ's question to Angel gives a clue to what the film is about:
"Why'd they change it (from Unidentified Flying Object to Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon)?"
Answer:
Because an animal is not an object.
13:34 I actually never realized until just now that Jupe's kids' alien masks were designed to look like those cameras from the studio.
And the bodies are clearly from monkey costumes.
I noticed it now for the first time as well! Glad it wasn't just me thinking that
I never knew that until this comment!! Wow thank you for pointing that out - I love Jordan peels attention to detail it’s incredible
I noticed that on a repeat watch. It’s so clever.
They also have a very chimp body!
another thing i think a lot of people miss is the theme of trauma. every time it's mentioned in the movie, its laughed off by the characters, but jupe clearly didn't talk to a therapist after his ordeal, developed toxic coping skills which lead him to exploited his own trauma. at the restaurant after the bloody house scene, OJ wants to talk about jeanjacket, but everyone else deflects just like jupe does whenever he recounts the story; he avoids HIS perspective, and created a narrative in his head that he survives gordy because he was chosen, and repeated his mistake (reliving his trauma) in trying to tame jeanjacket, but this time he didn't have a "table cloth" over his eyes... and realized it was a fluke that he survives gordy, not because he has some supernatural connection to animals.
You explain it so good.
It's pretty cool that Marketa and Spidey were able to explain more of the meaning behind the movie to the others after the reaction was over.
It’s rare that a medium-to-big blockbuster like this has so many interesting themes to chew on while ALSO succeeding at being a genre-busting crowd pleaser. So good!
Lmfao. Bro 😂😂
The way they filmed the night scenes in this movie was very impressive. Two cameras at the same time in daytime, one infrared and then combine them in post. Usually day to night looks awful but doing it this way gave such convincing results, best I've seen.
Jupe survived because he didn’t look Gordy in the eye, he was also feeding the alien all the horses that he was sold to “train” the alien, if you notice how he was acting about selling them back
I like how those 2 are over there smirking like parents showing their kids their 1st ever scary movie.
Someone who claimed to know ASL said that after Gordys rampage he signs "What happened family?" to Jupe. He didn't even mean it.
Jean Jacket’s final form looks a lot like a biblical angel
"And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear." - Luke 2:8-10
Be not afraid, for I merely hunger.
@@ShortyLongstrokin and then they brought down god 😌
It was inspired by the angels from Evangelion
It would make far fetched, but scary sense.. imagine humanity met with this species since ancient times but due to their ,, beautiful,, visual, they were interpreted as something divine, thus making people pray or avoid eye contact and bow, making them luckily immune. Then drawing them as biblically accurate angels and telling stories in holy books
I think that Antlers' sacrifice is the ultimate "one for them, one for me." This is something he says earlier in the film, and it's something a lot of filmmakers have thrown around over the years - the idea of doing a crappy studio picture so as to then fund your independent art. He is someone who just wants to make artsy nature documentaries, but all he gets hired for are crappy commercials. He feels like his talent is being taken advantage of, much like Gordy and Jean Jacket.
There is also a moment when he and Angel are getting set up under the tent where he takes a pill and kind of hides it from Angel, which I believe signifies he is dying of some terminal disease. So, knowing he is on his way out anyway, he sees the impossible shot as the ultimate "one for me" because not only is it the impossible shot, but he does it in a way where no one else but him gets to see it. Basically a "You never saw me for my talent, but it doesn't matter, because I am now doing something no one else will ever do, and fuck you, you don't get to see it" kind of deal.
The way that man was talking he was already dead inside
And what I love is that the shot is awful. He just holds it at his feet until he loses control of the camera, then it cuts. It was for nothing.
Remember when Em and OJ contacted Antlers, he was watching footage of things being devoured. I kinda think once he took on the assignment he intended it to be his last work. Unbeknownst to the Haywood siblings; he got his swan song on his own term.
he was also dying. they show him taking pills, so its assumed he had cancer.
I love how much people focus on the shoe. The movie talks about bad miracles and honestly I don't think its anything other than that. Just a horrible coincidence to fixate on in a horrible situation
Jupe THINKS he had a special bond with Gordy, but the real reason he was sparred is that he never looked Gordy directly in the eyes, there was a table clothe between them.
I love how Pat is more scared with Planet of the Apes saying "it could happen in real life" meanwhile the scene they're watching is a literal reference of something that happened in real life.
I absolutely ADORE this movie; it's one of those that gets better each time you watch it.
Eye contact is an act of aggression among primates. So Jupe being fixated on the shoe during the attack allowed time for Gordy to calm down and the tablecloth obscured their line of sight enough to avoid agitating Gordy all over again.
Also Gordy was signing "What happen family?" 🥲
I am both impressed and devastated that they used actual Ape sign language to deliver that line.
Mind blown 🤯 that’s awesome to know
Didn’t catch the sign language first two times! Thanks for explaining!
Gordy just saw red and woke up from the daze to find his family ripped apart and bashed... Poor Gordy :c Glad he was put down quick...
Same the second time I enjoyed it so much more. I caught a bunch of things that I didn’t catch the first time as well.
Marketa and Spidey's expressions so far have been hilarious LOL That knowing expression of shit going down
Rana, “Is it a garlic?” 😂🤣😂🤣😂
"why is Ghost in the arena?"
He has a great sense of what makes a timeless, classic feel to a film
also ems reply of "WHERE HE GOIN??" hahaha
Nope was a masterpiece and one of the best modern cosmic horror films I've seen! The twist of it NOT actually being a typical alien movie to finding out it was a creature was so rewarding imo That scene of the crowd getting eaten by it was a claustrophobic nightmare and then shortly after, the realization that all those earlier noises of the creature weren't it's own like I originally thought but the wails of dying people 😳
After seeing this, I totally get how Jordan Peele was heavily inspired by King Kong for this movie. It's another story of exploiting the untameable and unfamiliar for profit which ultimately resulted in tragic consequences
Best moment of the film: watching this in theater, realizing the ‘ship’ is an alien creature and watching Steven yeun and his audience being eaten alive.
The cinematography of the shot is AMAZING. One of my favorite uses of practical effects. Literally just two sheets of fabric and a side shot flipped to make people look like they’re in an alien esophagus 😭😭😭😭😭
During the "alien" thing with the kids, its so funny watching spidey smiling, and pat, suraj, rana, and navi being scared
Remember, Antlers was taking pills in an earlier scene. I think he's already sick/dying, so he wants to go out doing one last bit of art, capturing something 'magical'
The label said it was a type of blood pressure medication. Kinda standard for a guy his age. But yea that sounds like a nice motivation beyond 'the glory'.
Something I overlooked a little when I first saw this is that Keith David's character would have survived if he hadn't looked up. The coin pierced his eye through the socket and straight into his brain. When objects fall from the sky, our reaction SHOULD be to take cover or look down, but because it was such an unusual spectacle, he couldn't help but look up.
This film gets better each time. You notice different things.I love that the 3 cameras in the tv studio look like the 3 creepy alien masks the kids wear. Plus the overturned lamp in from of Gordy looks like the alien creature. So clever. The sound design of this film really deserved some nominations too. I also thought he was dead at the end, as he appears in the most out yonder so I thought he could be a ghost.
18:24 "Oh! It looks like a cowboy hat." Lolol
Love this movie, there are many layers to it. Every decision, frame and choice is so deliberate and I love that Jordan Peele does not cater to the slowest denominator but treats his audience as intelligent and thoughtful.
Great reaction and I enjoyed the discussion after, insightful.
The irony of the guy saying to fight a chimp💀😭 chimps have the strength of 6 men
I adore this movie. The digestion scene and blood rain scene were so Lovecraftian. This is the type of stuff that is disturbing to me.
Hearing people still screaming when Jean Jacket reached the house and then the snap sound you hear that kills all of them will always stick with me. The Blood rain is such striking imagery.
Because Jupe survived the Gordy situation, he thought he was the chosen one. He never properly dealt with his trauma or considered that he survived Gordy due to luck and circumstance (the tablecloth blocking his eye line with Gordy). In turn, he thought he could successfully tame the alien and make a spectacle out of it.
"I'll fight the chimp, I can take him."
Look up images of chimp muscle mass, and how they go for the genitals and face when attacking then get back to us on that sir.
My interpretation of this movie’s metaphor:
“The Viewer” (aka the UFO monster) is territorial over Hollywood (aka “Haywood Ranch”), but both the viewer and those who want to be famous are attracted to spectacle. The viewer chews up those that want to be famous and spit them out, taking their souls and turning them into material gains (coins and keys for vehicles/homes). The viewer is attracted to spectacles like flags and balloons, but if it knew what was best for it, it wouldn’t care about these hollow things, but only care about actual things of substance. However, in the end, the most hollow shiny object ends up destroying the viewer.
That's the single best interpretation of this movie I've ever heard. It makes so much more sense with how production companies like Disney and WB are more interested in quantity over quality. They'd rather have a five course meal made up of pieced together snacks rather than a single steak that's been seasoned and cooked to perfection.
yea there's the whole theme of hollywood in this movie, it criticizes things about the industry with the predator/prey theme parallel
Wow, I've only ever really looked at the parallels between OJ and Jupe in how they treat animals and have respect for them vs thinking they're above them. I've never considered a metaphor towards Hollywood. That puts the entire movie in a new perspective to me. That's amazing.
💯
The TMZ guy is one the more on the nose examples of this theme. The no face/reflective helmet serving as a mirror.
I know they kinda joked about seeing Michael Wincotts name but as a person who watched plenty of movies in the 90s I was super excited to see Wincott in this. He's got the best gravelly voice in the business.
I hate chimpanzees, they're literally the superior in all physical aspects compared to humans and that is terrifying. When Suraj said he'd stay and fight I couldn't help shaking my head because there is nothing he could do in that moment if he was in it.
Why would u hate them tho, they're animals
Hey I've seen a lot of comments pointing out the Akira slide, but there's one important aspect to it that I didn't put together until I watched this video. In the opening of the movie and a couple times throughout, they show the famous first motion picture which is of a black man on a horse. Well, that's one historical achievement in movies. But Mr Peele has achieved a different record with this movie, the first live action Akira slide in movies was performed by Keke Palmer (or maybe her stunt double, I haven't seen the making-of). Emerald Haywood pulls off a new historical feat of cinema with a 21st-century electric horse, so she's truly her great-great-great grandfather's daughter, as well as finally "taming" her Jean Jacket.
the human body is such a wonderful thing, under all the circumstances it does everything in it's power to keep you alive, but at some point the body gives up (some herbivores as seen in videos give up and accept death) and tries to make it as painless as possible. The fact the the people were still screaming like minutes/hours later still in pain is just horrifying.
so happy they reacted to this
I felt that OJ passed since you notice Em when the dust cleared you see that him and the horse were still but someone did comment that it could’ve have been a remembrance of the still shots at the begging.
Idk if anyone noticed or already knew but i liked how the aliens that Jupe’s Kids dressed up as looked like Gordy.
The messages here is that we are always out to see the million dollar shot, that one picture or video that no one will ever get, that Impossible shot that will get you fame and fortune no matter what the cost is and that despite how humans have trained and tamed animals for years, it is still a wild animal that can be set off and we have to respect it.
“Is it a Garlic” 🧄 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Steven Yeun has been in some pretty good movies. Okja, Sorry to Bother You, Burning, and Minari just to name a few. Maybe check them out.
lol Suraj, a chimp can rip a human apart easily, they possess at LEAST double the strength of the most athletic man you can think of. You may think you can fight one, but you'd be wrong.
What’s more interesting about this movie is all the small stuff and tidbits you seem to glance over.
Like at Jupe’s Claim: the staff members wear yellow shirts that look just like the shirt Gordy wore when he went crazy.
The dolls had the head that looks like the cameras in the studios but the body like Gordy.
Jupe said that the rampage went on for 6 minutes and 13 seconds and during his Star Lasso Experience, he claimed that he saw the alien creature at 6:13pm. And the Alien on the back of his outfit.
The shoe standing on its own, is what’s happening in Jupe’s mind to cope with what happened so in his mind, the shoe is standing on his own when probably in reality, Gordy probably ripped the leg off the costar and it’s foot was still in the shoe so it was able to stand on its own.
The Nahum scripture where it talks about making a spectacle and raining filth upon you is describing the Alien creature as it eats its victims, it spewed out all the inorganic material like the keys and coins like rain.
The alien was called Jean Jacket so Em could “tame” it ie destroy it.
I love people that haven't seen this watch it for the first time! Such a great movie! To any of The Normies, if you watched The Crow back in the day, the film maker was the head of the gang that told the members to put some fear into Eric and Shelly.
3:01 - 3:03 Yo the side-eye Marketa gives Pat right here is the best thing I've seen this year lol
The Gordy comparison was Jupe, despite having witnessed a tragic failure to tame a terrestrial animal as a kid, still tried, out of greed, to tame an alien animal.
The first thing I thought after watching this movie in theaters was "it came from somewhere. Are there more?"
Suraj has no idea how incredibly physically strong Chimpazees are ...
>He's not a gorilla
You guys might have seen too many movies, a Gorilla can smash your skull with a single swing of its paw ....
About fighting back Gordy that crew member stood no chance. To realize just how strong a chimp is look at a hairless one. They are just pure muscle and unless the person trying to fight back is extremely strong, like high tier of human strength, I doubt you could do much with just your hands. Now if you had one of those chairs in the scene that at least might even some of the odds but a chimp is also very fast and agile.
Absolutely obsessed with Jordan Peele’s work.
Jean jacket, in it's elegant-appearing final form at the end, resembled an old school camera, esp with that light-green rectangular tongue(?) behaving like the flash of an old camera. It's like how we stare with our eyes at spectacle (i.e. the entertainment industry) but in actuality, it can be predatory towards us.
This theme/idea also plays out with jupe's history and trauma from gordy, etc.
One more thing: chimpanzees are extremely strong, can be vicious, and can tear a person apart like a marshmallow. A whole room of people wouldn't stand a chance against an aggressive chimp.
I love this movie. It’s a fun entertaining movie with a few truly horrifying moments (the digestion scene for example).
Edit: Enjoyed the discussion. I don’t think this movie is supposed to be scary by the end like Spidey said haha.
This movie is for movie and cinema lovers. The hidden meanings and just look of the movie is immaculate
The other important thing about the shoe is that, by fixating on it he wasn't making eye contact with Gordy. As well as the table cloth blocking the eyes.
Marketa's face @23:58 when Navi and Rana are talking about letting the 'TMZ' guy die. 😂
I love you normies and i hope you guys would never stop give us these amazing reactions
JJ was all like, "This isn't even my final form" at the end
Lmao Rena is me asf during this reaction “THEN LETS FUCKING LEAVE” 😂
I just love this film! So many different perspectives to take from it. Can't wait to see more greatness from Peele
I love the reveal in this movie it was so terrifying
That reaction to Pat's reaction just 3 minutes in is exactly why I keep coming back to the Normies 🤣
The fact that Pat is starting to get desensitized means you'll have to find scarier movies for him to watch to undo his desensitization. 😂 I once again respectfully offer Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Hell House LLC and Autopsy of Jane Doe as suggestions cuz there are very effective moments in those movies but if he's somehow missed the classics like The Exorcist or Ringu, those might do as well. 😊
I see those, and I raise you Green Room.
@@bubsyfinnigan4462 I've been meaning to watch it, you just reminded me! But I thought that movie was more thriller than horror?
Can't believe they forgot about Invincible, Steven Yeun killed that role
How strong does Suraj think a chimp is 😂
when i saw this at the cinema i was right next to the speakers, so when it revealed it was alive and the screams were from real people it was deafeningly loud and super creepy
I feel like this was Jordan Peele's tribute to filmmaking, and Steven Spielberg specifically. "Nope" was basically a remake of Jaws. (Jean Jacket = Bruce the shark, Em/OJ = Brody, Angel = Hooper, Antlers = Quint) It even had the monster die by exploding at the end.
19:54 she would never come back for a reaction again after that comment
The audio design, the acting, and the design of the ufo/uap/creature were all done soooo f*CKING well.
The combo of Keke Palmer’s goofy outgoing personality, Daniel Kaluuya’s quiet yet impactful acting, and Brandon Perea who played Angel was just such a perfectly crafted cast. They did soooo f*ckin good!
Also I love how the movie transforms just like the creature…from SCI fi mystery, to SCI fi horror, to western SCI fi adventure/action. Sooo freaking well done!
The concept of this movie was spectacle like when you pass around a car crash and you slow down to look at it with the risk the you May cause another crash
Someone probably already commented but you don't fight a chimpanzee 😂
Those animals are too strong you can't beat something that has that kind of strength.
You also don't run away apparently because that makes things worse.
One thing is to not look them in the eye.
I'm terrified of them 💀
Lol at the guy saying he would fight a chimp.
13:30 zoo's the world over have a shoot on sight policy if a chimp ever presents a risk to people, they don't even bother to try and tranq them if they've escaped and are near the public. They are terrifyingly strong and vicious in their fighting methods, basically imagine a drugged up flyweight wrestler with a bite comparable to a big cat.
When Marketa and Spidey said they saw it in theaters I was a bit disappointed, but they added so much to this reaction; I loved it
God, what an exceptional film... easily one of my favorites of the last decade!
0:15 In the opening when the Normie’s were introducing themselves, how many thought Rana said she’s not single lol
Idk maybe she’s not single 🤷♂️ lol love you Rana
Definitely a film that's geared more towards photographers/cinematographers and I love it.
Nope was my favorite movie of 2022. It is so underrated, especially with all the negative reviews. In mind, I hope this is going to turn out like The Thing. The Thing received horrible reviews upon initial release and was only loved as a cult classic decades later.
This is honestly one of my new favorite movies.
I absolutely hate myself that I missed the theme of erasure in this movie. The fact that the man who literally was the first person ever to be shot on a series of moving pictures in real life is to this day unknown because white people in charge wanted to quite literally erase him from history says a lot about how that is still happening today. Jordan Peele proving for the 3rd time in a row that he is a true master of subtext in horror.
As for the UFO I actually love the reveal that it is not an alien ship but an ALIEN itself (and not a sentient being but more of a wild animal like the shark in JAWS) was such a great subversion of my expectations. The scene of it taking all those people at the show was scary enough, but then when it’s hovering above the house and you hear the painfully horrifying screams of all the people and then when they are eaten it starts raining blood!!!!! I am never going to forget scene.
And finally I loved the fact that Jordan Peele could’ve done the clichéd horror endings of either A) everyone dies and any evidence what caused it is erased, or B) the bad guy or monster is killed and there are 1 or 2 survivors but no one believes them and they are blamed for it all. Instead not only does Emerald kill that giant killer weather balloon, but OJ also survived and to really top it all off they actually have the proof of the UFO they need, and you know that means they are not just famous but immortalized as heroes.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Absolutely loved this movie! Jordan Peele knows how to entertain. I want this exact cast to do another movie together
the story of Gordy was based on an actual event tat happened some years ago, a woman had a pet chimp and eventually something happened and te chimp ripped her face off, she miraculously survived and is probably still alive to this day. But the main thing about gordy’s story being relative to this is because the film centers around animal cruelty. They paused Gordy, the people at the filming studio didnt respect the horse, and Jup trying to tame jean jacket and make him a spectacle
This. And it's also why they name-checked Oprah in this movie. Oprah invited that woman on to her show, made a spectacle of her suffering. Same with OJ Simpson, which is why Daniel Kaluuya's character is named OJ. It's all commentary about how we exploit others, especially animals and children, for our own entertainment and how dangerous that can be.
Such a great movie. Glad you guys are reacting to it
A juvenile chimpanzee can tear your skin off with just the scratching motion of its fingers. People sleep on just how strong they are. You don't fight them, you run or survive them.
Watched it while my girlfriend was sleeping next to me. Literally broke out in a cold sweat. Horror is one thing, but peele manages to make shit so skin crawlingly weird at times
My favorite part was when the asian guy used that SNL skit story to hide the reality of the sheer terror of the chimp event.
It's funny how the ads made you think this was going to riff on Close Encounters when the Spielberg movie it's actually riffing on is Jaws....
Jups co star appearance after Gordys attack is a very obvious parallel to Sandra Nash, the woman who was brutally attacked by the chimp actor Travis, back in 2009.
i think i rewind the "camera footage of the mantis, and the guys screaming about 12 times so far. and laughed the whole time :)
Ketty and Spidey, thank you for representing my feelings throughout this vid.hahahaha It's very fun watching others see this movie for the first time. Also, I'm still traumatized from watching the opening scene in theatres.
dunno if you guys mentioned it, but what happen to the girl actress - jo beth- actually happen in real life. a woman got brutally mauled by a chip owned by her neigborg
9:17 Legit one of the scariest scenes I've ever seen in a film
Nope isnt the greatest movie ive ever seen, but it does a lot of things very well. All the Gordy stuff is very traumatic and interesting, Jupes character is great and the creature itself is well designed and the entire story is something people can take in and learn from
That was a fun reaction, great editing!
This is what happened to the Roanoake colonists that disappeared, they were all abducted in one big scoop
That Jean Jacket was one Mean Jacket
In response to 47:07, the way they shot the night scenes was by shooting them in broad daylight. As of the time when the movie came out, the cinematographer hasn't revealed all the details of how he did it, but he shot in bright daylight.
