I love hearing reactors say “Why is everyone recommending THIS?” before watching it, but then they’re always like “this movie was incredible, I get it now!” It’s usually either by the giant fight or Death’s introduction, but never later than Perrito’s “therapy dog” scene.

Still never get why they entered into the movie downplaying it so much. The first was good. Maybe it wasn't for marketa but she usually goes for a more saccharine sap movie like most people who watch pixar and think I cried so = good. i fall for that too so just making an assumption not a hate on attack. But puss was about a fun hist move. sad she flavored the group as when her or surj come in a reaction they make a blanket statement which while their opinion, usually holds a lot of weight for the cast since their the more harsh critics, but I find harsh critics, while respected, cause they're harsh, and you think what they like must be good, usually doesn't mean much more than someone who likes everything, they are just specific in what pleases them.

Yeah. But i don't get it, the trailer looked good to me. I guess it's because I liked the first puss in boots a lot more than others given the take that the first was so bad even though they both are rated around the same score and both have a fairly basic generic plot on paper. It's about execution, fun characters and a solid story and arcs. Also, I hate the take that the crew and many others jump to this movie, enjoy it after hype, then say you don't have to watch the first (definitely). I guess its just surj's voice and why people get pissy about his hot takes lol, but he always sounds so confident and confirming in his wrong info lol. Like absolutely this move included all you need, this is a reboot another person said...When the movie literally included a flashback to the wedding which branches off of oh maybe they met in the first movie idk lol. I was wondering why reviewers didn't dock it points for reiterating info we basically already knew. It's why I think reviews are so hard to take serious since one review can say a movie is bad for so many reiterating of points another says they were confused, and they didn't reiterate anything. etc. Opinions I guess. Still think they should watch the first movie. glad hype helped this film so the sequel will succeed.

The trailer for this one looked great, but people came in thinking trash for some reason. Also why skip the first movie just to jump on hype...they missed out on themes carried into this one. I hate when they do that, but I guess its business more than art with most since it is a business don't get it confused lol. Also annoying that people now come in saying how trash the movie is and overrated when people were as marketa showed...originally very down on it and underrating it...people we shouldn't just call things we underrate overrated once they get their dues...I guess this is why no matter how good a show is I can find the...it's overrated take since when it gets popular people come in ready to say I don't get the hype...
so many well done themes, great pacing, ideas, so on. I see reviews that seem to miss so much of what makes this great, cause they get angry cause the hype or over look things cause they think eh its dumb puss and boots. My pals wont watch cause they heard people say the first was average...when the first was good...nearly same rating on imdb as this one... people are annoying sometimes. One thing that I feel was missed in this reaction, is them not talking about/realizing the important themes that were actually in this movie, which is why its so well praised. Our fears of our own mortality, and how we should value every bit of time we have for our one life, followed by the psychological trauma that can be experienced due to such a fear, and of course the execution of Puss panic attack, and how perfectly Perrito handled it. Everything about this movie was just right
*Interesting fact:* Antonio Banderas himself played a huge role in the themes of this film, as the heart attack he suffered years ago made him fear death and left him depressed and even traumatized. It took a long time for him to come to terms with it, but was very content when he did, and wanted to share his experience through one of his most beloved characters.

Kitty Softpaws is disability representation, and a surprisingly good example of it; if she’d wanted the wish to undo that (and especially if she got it), the film would’ve been about a disabled person resenting their life and wanting a cure. The fact is, she’s made her life meaningful in spite of that and she would NEVER want to undo it, BECAUSE it makes her life experiences meaningful and not in spite of it. It’s important that what she really wants, is someone she can depend on because everyone has betrayed or let her down until now.

@@freddiesimmons1394 True, but I feel she wants to not undo her life and live it as best she can... I'm sure there are people with certain disabilities out there who would absolutely like to remove those, and I don't fault them feeling resentment (especially when those are taken from them like Kitty lost her claws); the difference is whether you let that longing become your whole identity, or you forge your own way... Hence that fact that Kitty Softpaws taught herself to be strong, to compensate for what she lacked. She's not a victim of wanton cruelty from her owners/adoptive parents, she's someone who survived this callous act and found meaning not merely in spite of it but beyond that fact
That's also why her wish isn't to fix herself; Kitty knows her own worth, but she needs someone who she can trust not to let her down, and when Puss proves he can become that she no longer needs the wish. This was always what she lacked, the knowledge that she could be loved by another as she deserved; she herself didn't show at the Santa Coloma wedding because she knew that even if Puss had come (which he didn't), he wasn't conscientious enough to value her the way she craved. In a way, while Puss on the one hand had the love of the masses (and even friends like Shrek and Donkey) but felt alone because of his self-imposed "legend" status, Kitty wanted personal connections but was too hurt to trust people... But in the end, she does ultimately find her family, and that's what matters most, yeah?

We tend to have knee jerk reactions especially when in groups and trying to predict what seems like a "kids movie" as people say. Alot of adults take kids film or cartoon as ok this is below me, I will enjoy it but nothing here's gonna blow my mind, it should be predictable and yadda yadda in back of their heads (at least people I know). When the last of the Bakers Dozen goes into the Star magic they died. Death walked through it like it was nothing. Confirming Death is in fact more powerful than the Star. loved the first personally. I dont get the hate for it. Its about as good as this one...just less character arcs and visuals arent this cool etc. But that's just the timing of release. Also hate the take that you don't need to watch the first one jump on the hype of this one. :(

@@zephyr9852 Yeah I feel it all comes across disingenuous as everyone reacting not just normies but all channels diss the first film and add that they never watched it but heard its trash (when at the time it got good reviews) then jump on this one (which has good reviews but also some bad ones basically calling out the film for not being for kids and juggling a lot etc. Those flaws arent exactly fair since you know, that's the point, but I get why people can dislike anything, they don't jive with or get the point of a film (yet others love it) or its execution was flawed. Death being a dog that stands upright with sickles bears a strong resemblance to Anubis, the Egyptian god of death. Before he even says a single word, his visual design tells you so much about him right away, and when he reveals himself to be Death Incarnate, it's believable to the audience because you've technically already known for the whole movie, in the back of your mind.

Perrito is my favourite part of this film, he just makes me want to hug my chihuahua, who is similarly endlessly cheerful, with three entire braincells. I guess its bad when hype makes people hate a thing also. Chainsawman was fantastic but hypebacklash got it with the haters who had no business with it, as it's not a fun for all show and has a certain type of humor and story...it's not broad appealing like naruto...that said in 12 eps it did a lot more than naruto did in 12 eps yet people trashed on it lol, its all about expectations.
