Fun fact: This is the only song that Chuck Berry actually wrote.
He wrote it because he was inspired the man whose talents as a musician and songwriter Chuck Berry's prominence grew.
    That man is Johnnie Johnson.
Sadly it was not until 20001 he was given his flowers as they say and it was because Keith Richards really pushed the Rock 'n' Hall Hall Of Fame to acknowledge his large contributions to rock 'n' roll.
Chuck Berry tool sole credit as the songwriter for the songs he recorded never giving Johnnie Johnson any kind of royalties for the the songs he composed.
He did file a lawsuit against Chuck Berry in 2000 but unfortunately the judge tossed the lawsuit out a year later claiming that too much time had passsed.
    Read article below:
The birth of Johnnie Johnson on this date in 1924 is marked on this date. He was a Black musician and composer.
Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, Johnson first played piano at 4. By his twenties, he was an accomplished jazz and blues player on the club circuit in Chicago, where he had apprenticed under Muddy Waters and Albert King. A self-taught musician, bandleader, and composer, Johnson composed the riffs for many of Chuck Berry's most famous tunes, including "Maybellene," "Sweet Little Sixteen," and "Rock and Roll Music," which Berry transposed to guitar. Berry wrote his best-known song, "Johnny B. Goode," in tribute to Johnson.
But it was Johnson who gave Berry his first big break. On New Year's Eve in 1952, Johnson was stuck when fronting his trio in St. Louis. His sax player fell ill and needed an emergency replacement, so he called in his pal Berry, a promising young guitarist, to fill in. The show was a hit, Johnson asked Berry to join the band, and soon the more charismatic Berry was the frontman. Their partnership produced dozens of hit songs before they parted company in 1973. Johnson last performed at the new club 'Finale' in Clayton, Missouri, and a special NCAA Final Four-related concert in St. Louis. Johnson had also been planning to return to his West Virginia hometown to teach a music class later this year.
Wracked by alcoholism, Johnson fell off the radar. He was driving a bus when Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards tracked Johnson down while making the 1987 Berry documentary Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll. Richards, convinced that Johnson should be in the rock pantheon alongside Berry, launched a high-profile campaign to get Johnson into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But Hall rules stipulated that a musician isn't eligible for the Rock Hall until 25 years after his/her first credited album. Richards, in turn, produced Johnson's 1987 Grammy-nominated solo debut album, Blue Hand Johnnie. Johnson re-launched his career, performing and recording with Richards, Eric Clapton, Bob Weir, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, and Bruce Hornsby.
"Johnson ain't copying Chuck's riffs on piano," Richards once said. "Chuck adapted them to guitar and put those great lyrics behind them. But without somebody to give him those riffs--voila!--no song, just a lot of words on paper." In 2001, Johnson got his Rock Hall to pass after the institution tweaked its rules to create a "sideman" category, and it was Richards who did the inducting. It was also Richards who prompted Johnson to sue Berry in 2001. The pianist's federal lawsuit claimed that Berry took advantage of Johnson's alcoholism by claiming sole ownership over the songs and refusing to acknowledge Johnson's role in their compositions. Johnson sought millions of dollars in royalties. But a federal judge tossed the suit a year later, ruling that too much time had passed before Johnson brought the complaint.
Johnson influenced generations of rockers through his collaborations with Berry--everyone from Elvis Presley and Little Richard to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Fellow rock originator Bo Diddley, who performed with Johnson, called him "a great man and a great musician." "It was so much fun to play with Johnnie," Diddley said in a statement. "He will be missed, but his music will live on." According to his publicist, Berry was traveling back from Europe and was not immediately available for comment.
Johnnie Johnson, the rhythm-and-blues piano wizard whose pioneering partnership with Berry produced such indelible tracks as "Roll over Beethoven" and "No Particular Place To Go" and helped to lay the foundations for rock 'n' roll, died on April 13, 2005, he was 80. His wife, Frances, ten children, and numerous grandkids survived Johnson.
I know this is supposed to be all about Elvis. I know. But I am passionate about setting the record straight and telling the truth.
And not just about Elvis either.
There are more articles that speak on how Chuck Berry pretty much tool advantage of Johnnie Johnson and never gave him his dues. He never so much as thanked the man.
That does not take away from Chuck Berry's talent as a musician and singer and performer.
But I think it sad that everyone knows who Chuck Berry is and hardly anyone knows who Johnnie Johnson is.
So I am doing my own small part here to try to change that.
I do hope nobody here minds 😊
FABULOUS REACTION SEPH AS ALWAYS 👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🙌💃🙌💃🙌💃🙌💃😎💙💎👌

To see more live it will mostly be in the 70's. Like " Patch It Up". The opening "Tire Man/I got a Woman". That's why I keep pushing his rehearsal footage that's just fascinating and fun. " How the Web was Woven". "Elvis talks to the Sweet Insprations/words" "Stranger in the Crowd" all from Vegas1970. Thanks Seph.

Undoubtedly its a throw away version but it showcases what a phenomenal, tight rhythm section Elvis had assembled at the core of his stage production, even George Harrison gushed about it when he attended his concerts. When Elvis asked Sam Philips for advice before he returned to live performances Philips said to Elvis(and I'm paraphrasing) "Don't let them surround you with their wishy washy Vegas orchestral arrangements, create your own core group of musicians and you'll kick ass"!

    - - - Elvis totally outdid Chuck Berry in the 3 songs he recorded of his:
Johnny B. Good in 1969 by Elvis is unsurpassed. His vocals are rocking compared to Chuck's version where chuck is almost talking thru the song. James Burton is perfection. Whomever is on that piano behind Elvis, is also on point. I will concede Elvis didn't do this song justice after about 1970, tended to just go thru the motions.
Promised Land was another song that Elvis totally rocked out from 1974. Check out the studio version only. Then listen to Chuck's which sounds like it falls flat.
Too Much Monkey Business was done by Elvis in late 60s but it wasn't until 1980 that the remix was done, and the instruments really matched Elvis' serious vocal style. Chuck did it more like a funny song.

Seph - during the players solo parts, Elvis would usually point at the player and watch them. That was his intention: to draw attention to his musicians. James Burton usually played this solo behind his back. Also, most people never got to see their favorite artists, except for an album cover.

This performance was for using the album in a dance party not to seriously listen to it. During the era that it was recorded people had week night and weekend house parties and they just played records to dance to and this is what this album was released for. Elvis has an amazing ability to actually annunciation each word clearly at such a fast rhythm!

After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”

Wait a minute Seph, I am confused. I thought you were going in order and not looking for live concert footage yet. If that isn't the case, then I must have missed out on the 68 comeback special. You can react to those individually as people have uploaded them as such. Also, 69 is really UNFORTUNATE because they didn't record any of his engagements and it's infuriating. However, when it gets to 70 there are individual song uploads from the "movie" they filmed of some of his performances. 1969 was special though and it's damn shame they didn't film it. Anyway, all of the albums from 69 are 🔥 and you should be able to enjoy them. You have to understand one thing though, Elvis mostly changes all of the songs he covers. There may only be subtle changes, but there will often be big changes. Elvis likes to create and make the songs his own. I for one, am happy that he does this ☺

No video BECAUSE this was Vegas '69 -- it was never professionally filmed (can't understand why not) - not filmed like when MGM filmed Vegas '70 from which we got That's The Way It Is. There are some very bad pieces of film from audience members & the little 8mm cameras -- or whatever millimeter cameras were back then -- film is almost all black, broken up, you can't see a thing & even some of the songs are in pieces. If there's anything good out there worth watching, I haven't yet found it. All we have right now are some beautiful still shots from him then - both b&w & color. His voice in '69 was distinctly very different than '68 & '70 -- sort of sounded a bit like he may have had a slight sore throat or cold. He also was exceptionally thin -- a little more so than in '68.
