I bought one too while I was in Japan only because the OLED was completely sold out.
I'm loving my steam deck so far, there's a lot of things that you can do on it.
I’ve had mine almost a week. I have played it exclusively since I got it and so far I love it. The battery life isn’t great when you’re playing a game that demands power and I’m not super sensitive to frame rate but I love my SteamDeck.
Can you play with it plugged in? That will be my main way to play.

@@0293holder It will actually bypass the battery conpletely when it's charged full and plugged in so you aren't even wearing down your battery when doing so.
The battery lofe for AAA games os about 90-120min it is more than enough for playing AAA games on the go, at least for me

Came across your channel and am enjoying your steam deck reviews. Would love to see a video comparing the pros and cons of Windows versus Steam OS. Things like performance, compatibility etc… Getting a steak deck for Christmas , and may install Windows to an external SSD.
you can put windows on an SD card along with games that require windows (cod, battlefield, etc). steamdeck lets you boot from SD cards if you want too.

Good content. I’m deciding to buy one but I see your list of tips are great.
I will say i'm not disappointed. I kinda figured I was going to get a 30fps Indy and older AAA game machine. But its continued to exceed my expectations. In newer graphically intensive AAA titles you wont hit 60, but once you get each individual game honed in its great. The 40htz mode is pretty nice. I will say that it does feel like 60 like he said. And ngl...I hit 60 on waaaaay more games than i expected. I have a gaming laptop and a ps5 and I find myself using the Deck more than the other 2 recently. Perfect for kicking back after work and watching TV in the background while you play. Hope this helped inform your decision.

I’ve had mine about a week. The only negative thing I can say is that when you’re pushing it the battery life isn’t great. Sometimes when I first load up an area in an open world game it’s a little slow but it seems to only happen once. I am not as sensitive to frame rate as some people. I have not touched my Xbox or switch since I got it and I’m loving playing the games that I couldn’t before because I didn’t have a PlayStation. 9.5/10 would recommend for anyone that can afford it and is interested at all.

I’ve had my steam deck for 3 weeks now and haven’t even scratched the surface of it, been playing mostly Horizon Zero Dawn, Borderlands 3 and Tales of Arise. If i could give people one bit of advice it would be to get there games from cd keys, so much cheaper than the steam marketplace. I picked up Metal Gear Rising and Vanquish for less than £7 for both!

I've had my steam deck for three days now and loving it 😁. I got the 256gb my storage almost full because of GTA 5 it's 100gb 🤣. My 512 micro SD card comes today or tomorrow

@@Ch33ch007 I bought one just don't expect it to arrive on time valve uses fed ex and mines has been stuck on "label created" and hasn't changed at all in the past 6 days and valve is hard walling saying I can't refund until it arrives... At this point is it even gonna arrive lmfao on the tracking it even says FedEx hasn't received it lol

Tip 6, steam should ask you where you would like to install it before you start the download if it recognises a SD card a bit like it does on pc when you add multiple drives
They actually added this! I noticed recently the last two tes I downloaded a new game it asked which storage medium you would like to install it to

An easier way to get to Desktop Mode is to long-press the power button (this brings up the same Steam > Settings > Power menu).

I have recently regained access to my old compromised steam account and trying to play some old games on Steam Deck. Only issue is when I log into my primary account, I can't seem to play games from old account. The compromised account has fraud restrictions on it so would that be why or am I missing something?
Basically the steam libraries aren't merging between accounts like you explained in the video. Any insight?
One thing that would be awesome that they could do for the steam deck is add a tracking application built in so we can find it if it gets lost. Because I’m afraid of taking it places because I don’t want to lose it or someone stealing it.
Does this improve graphics and will there be any negative impact like battery life shortened as a result?

Games can be played up to 4K resolution on Deck:
Open game page... Right "wheel" icon... Properties....
GAME RESOLUTION: Set resolution for internal and external display
Good example for using higher resolution on Deck itself is GTA4 which has very poor antialiasing. This is basically a form of SSAA.
Do not overuse it or it will tank performance and/or drain your battery.

Question about the multiple steam accounts. If my wife and I have separate steam accounts and she is playing a game that I own on the steam deck then can I also be playing the same or different game on my PC?
I keep reading that if who evers account owns that game the other account can’t access unless the owner is not online playing.
This got recommendet to me. I just ordered the steam deck so i just save this vid to watch it when my Deck arrives. I hope i made a good choice with the 64GB and a 512GB SD Card for 40€.
The 64gb model has a different ssd and is much slower than the other two versions so your load times will be longer
@@williamking2762 It dosent really matter cause ive used HDDs from pre 2000 and my games started faster. I was litterly waiting like 15 minutes and nothing happened when i wrote that comment above.
Now its fine since ive reinstalled everything and i am really enjoying how easy emudeck is.

you have to download illegally
You should keep the refresh rate at 60 and lower it to 30fps. I don’t know why we pretend we can actually see the difference on such a small screen between 30 and 40 fps.
What you had to look it up how to get to desktop mode I was just playing around with my steam deck and I was like oh wow there’s a desktop mode but I mean it is kind of funny that you had to look it up.

As long as the mods support Linux you can. I currently have Valheim running modded.

My plan, get 64gb model, upgrade ssd to 1tb, wipe steam os and just have Windows. So i can Play online games and still come in cheaper than 512gb version

where you playing games inbetween those tips or is the battery just that bad
This was a 40 min video that I cut down to 10 minutes so the battery life you see is with me tinkering, testing out things before recording, etc. On average (when not playing a game) I get about 4 to 5 hours of on screen time before it need s a charge. With gameplay you will get around 2 hours with AAA titles, and around 3-4 hours if you're using an emulator or smaller indie titles

Once you beat the elite four in fire red (or any Pokémon game) you can’t play anymore. The ways saves work messes everything up
Onexplayer is light years ahead of this.. Way better handheld
