    Now I want an old boat for my new pond. I would be happy with anything that floats and I can spend hot afternoons dipping my feet in the water or hanging out with the pond life.

    We had a remote lake cabin on Lake Shasta, accessible only by boat. Absolutely best boat for us, was a 1960, 14.5 ft. fiberglass with 40 hp SeaKing. Bought it used, cheap!! Was the most versatile, easiest to own/use boat we ever had. Could move family and supplies. Great memories. Nowadays everything is over-engineered..

    Great size boat, that hull looks deep enough to take on some pretty big waters.

      Hoping to take it on some mighty lakes in central to northern Saskatchewan this season and test that very theory. Thanks for watching!

    Old aluminum boats are the best. You seldom see fiberglass or wooden boats lasting as long as aluminum boats do. I've owned several and currently own a 14 foot deep V, 1969 Proline with a 1969 electric start 25hp Evinrude. I got the boat, two motors (25hp Evinrude & a 7.5hp Honda 4 stroke) a very nice trailer, battery, oars, paddles and anchor for $500 dollars U.S.

    Yes a used boat in perfect conditions like that, it's about 250 USD with old engine, it's a good price, a very good price for care a boat and give a kids extraordinary memories. Finally nobody own an aluminum boat, only keep it for some year's. Congratulations

    good on you them older boats are better then the newer ones as long as the motor works my grandfather had a old sears sea king 14 foot with a 25 hp Johnson motor from the 60's he used it for years intell he sold it in the early 2000's for noting i remember he he never had a trailer for it we threw it in the back of his old extended bed dodge 79 Dakota 4X4 and went to the greenbrier river for the week ends to catch large mouth and small mouth and sriper and catfishing on his days off from working in the coal mines those boats are a lot better made then new one for sure

    Upgrade to a more popular motor, like a 9.9 Evinrude. Perfect for a boat like that. I have one now. Those Ted William motors are difficult to get parts for and not popular because of reliability issues.

    Well didn't see your video till now, but at least 1 serious mistake, ( not trying to find fault, just point out), which hopefully you know now, never, ever, run a boat engine out of water! Point #2. Only use non ethanol gas in these small outboards!, I learned that the hard way, unfortunately, but a great little boat, have one same size.👍

    Hello there. Hopefully that motor is still running. Although the actual motor is air cooled the exhaust is water cooled. They are cooked by an impeller. You will have to purchase a new one. The exhaust is cooled so the seal in the crank shaft doesn’t go out. Also the little impeller pieces can go into the motor. Just a quick tip!

    • @HayWoodsandWetlands
      @HayWoodsandWetlands  Před 4 lety

      Well that would explain a lot. The motor runs fine, but leaks the leg oil like crazy. Sounds like maybe I cooked the seal out? Are there parts still available for these old units? Any idea where a guy might find'em?

      @@HayWoodsandWetlands I'm pretty those motors are made by Tanaka. I had a 3hp no clutch. They have a parts dealer in Seattle. Their very well made.

      Not very common parts. Check marketplace out for a older Evinrude or Johnson. Those will get you anywhere and are very reliable.

    I have had maybe 30 well used Crap Boats I have done what you did. Clean up splash some paint, Tune a Non Working Motor, purchased as Broken parts only Motors.......I have used every one,,,,,then sold them when a better deal came along. Last boat I saw pop up on Craig's list. I ran over purchased it, $3K used t and did nothing to it. Sold it for $6700...... Better boats cost a bunch but I have had the same fish hit my lines and I was not out working to get the Payment up for a slave to boating Loan....

  • @scottdollenmeyer7799
    @scottdollenmeyer7799 Před 2 lety

    I hate my ted Williams 7.5, I got mine running by replacing the rubber “fuel pump” element in the carb. Notorious for going out. The gas adjustment is stupid. These engines are just problematic and impossible to find parts for. I guarantee if tecumseh made about 200 updated carbs for this available to the public, they would be held in higher regard. I am just waiting to see a group of kids with a small boat and a trolling motor to give mine to because I don’t have the heart to sell it. Can pull a musicale yanking on that thing just to get it to run.
