Who the F are the people that gave this a thumbs down? Younger folks working to build something is a positive thing. Nice job guys.
I think there are people that just go trolling and put thumbs down on every video they can, and dont even watch them.
For real
The people that reached out wanting them to fix their shit bucket for free
@@shanester8712 Probably the music very hard on us older guys.
Probably the losers than can't even afford a garage never mind a boat. Great job guys see you out there.
you guys have restored my faith in the youth of today!!! Great cooperative effort in restoring that aluminum skiff...Kudos to you!!
The country needs more kids like this. Awesome
Came out awesome. Nice job! Love the storage compartments and lights.
Good bunch of fellas, great to see!
Ill be honest... a few young guys doing a project, I was prepared to be disappointed. but yall knocked it out of the park!! great job!

This is really cool! I just picked up a old aluminum boat and going to use a lot of this for inspiration. Good job fellas!
Awesome job gentlemen! I don’t see a lot of people your age doing stuff like this. Keep up the great work !🤘
Solid work. Looks really good.
Awesome work.
You guys did a great job
This video inspired me to redo my 40 year old 12ft aluminum boat. good job guys.
Glad to hear, good luck with your build!
Nice work, guys. I just picked up a 1974 Mirrocraft 14 foot for a project, and I am totally going to use your ideas for my build!
I just had a family friend give me a 66 mirrocraft 14 ft v hull boat. It's gonna be my first boat build and restore. I'm excited to do it for me and my 7 year old son. It seems like it's gonna be a very stressful job. I kinda have OCD and want everything to be perfect. So many ideas going though my head.
You guys did an amazing job
Awesome guys!!
Great job guys! Keep it up
Nice work! Well done!
Love the paint job!
Great Job! I'll follow your lead on my 12Ft V boat. Thanks
Great work man!
You guys are great love it when his in the hatch boat looks real good
Good times. Those headlights are perfect for flounder/frogs/ bow fishing.👍
Kudos to these young guys doing this, haters are gonna hate, but its just jealousy, keep at it guys, I'm 71 years old 6'1" 240 lbs and am modifying my 14 foot semi V hull 15hp evinrude, and I love doing the modifications, I guess I'm just a big old kid , but love fishing, catching and cooking the fish. Awesome videos guys.
Great job!! I was just looking for ideas to paint and redo the seats on a boat I have like this one, but now I’m thinking about doing something similar.
Super job! I'm working on my 14ft boat also.
Good job guys
Nice. Reminds me of the projects I carried out around that age. Arguably, you and your pals are craftsman compared to my friends lol.
Good work!
This turned out extremely well, hit me up when you get this on the water and we can capture something awesome from the sky for you!
Nice work guys!
Awesome guys
Great job
nice work boys!
Awesome job....
I really like how you put your switches in a tool box. Awesome job overall 👏 👌
This is an excellent effort by some ambitious young men. Great work
Thanks for watching!
Finally a video on the same boat I have, can't wait to do the work on mine come spring! Mine says Spectrum HD1400 by Bluefin
I've been working on some of my aluminum boats and was looking for inspiration. This looks sick!
great job
Great video you guys! 👌
good job!
Nice jobs guy's all the best from Scotland.
Awesome!
Wow. I am doing a 16ft Sylvan. And I like the use of space you did. Came out good guys. I like how you braced the hatches underneath. And how you turned a Skif into a nice fishing boat.
Just found your channel today and going through the vids, looking great keep it up!
Bad ass guys!!
Young people energy amazing!
Looks great throw some carpet decal stickers on the front deck make it look crazy 😍
Just watching it late after the release, but great job fellas!! It really was a great boat to start out with, but every improvement was worth it! I have watched several (many??? Haha) of these boat conversions or refurbishments and you popped into the algorithm. I’m glad to see it! I always thought the shark motif from the A-10 absolutely belonged on the front of many of the utility boat conversions like this and now you did it!!! Excellent job!
I’m an old fart, maybe even old enough to be a grandfather to you “young whipper snappers” heh heh, but am very glad to see how you you spend your time. This conversion now means more time on the water! Also a great thing.
I must admit when you were trapped in the storage area, I broke out in a sweat myself!! Hate tight spots like that. I’m thinking he owes you a burger and fries for that!!! Tell him!! Haha.
I see there is an update video so that’s next!
Thanks, Eh!
Great work guys from 🇦🇺
Great, super well done video ! The pro TV channels have nothing on you guys !
Amazing
What a fire ass build
Glad to see you guys found what you like , buy as many as you can , make MONEY
Good job men. Rey well laid out and so nice to see a young crew of men getting it done besides inside the house playing video games. I see another hogan squad in the making. There’s plenty of talent here. Go get it and never stop believing in your selves and going after what you guys want in life.
Thanks man!
Big idea what I'd you put a livewell in that spot in the back next to the driver. Just get a cooler, an arearor, pump, drill some holes and connect the lines.
Im currently doing this with my boat, but I don’t have the skills of you guys. You definitely got a subscribe from me. Hopefully I’ll see you guys on the highway or better yet on a lake. Very good job
Thanks for watching! Good luck with your build!
Awesome job guys. I just bought a 2022 14 foot mirrocraft and looking for ideas .
how did you support the very front of the deck in the at tip of the boat? I have similar boat and only thing up there is the bolt for the winch hook.
The deck is cut to wedge against the sides of the hull. It wasn't my idea but it gets the job done. I personally would have riveted an aluminum strip to the side and bent a tag end which would stick out from the hull to screw and support the deck.
great job guys, how did you support the front deck at the bow? It didn't look like there was any existing support to begin with. Thanks
We reinforced the bottom of the deck with furring strips and cut the front as close as we could to the shape of the hull. Because the hull tapers down at the front, the deck applies pressure to either side due to its shape which keeps the deck from sagging in. Its holding up very well and we have not had any issues with it yet.
Hey guy. I’m impressed with what you did with the boat I’ll be using some of the knowledge you gave me for my boat. Just one word of advice tone down the enthusiasm. Other than that great job guys!
Install a longer hatch to store the fishing poles under the deck. & rod holder's
I think I saw your boat on the road near Monticello a couple weeks ago
Love the sharks mouth
If you do something like this again, you could use painted styrofoam boards to section off hatches and it would help with stability and add to the reserve buoyancy if you manage to swamp it
Hey fellas, Great job on the rebuild! I just bought the same exact boat and was curious if you guys kept any of the dimensions for the deck you guys made?
I don’t believe so as we had to modify quite a bit of it from the original plan to fit.
Pretty dope guys. I'm about to leave to pick up a similar boat. Gave me some inspiration. thanks.
any chance you guys have a break down on the average cost you spent for materials?
All of the materials used totaled somewhere under $250 dollars.
sweet Jesus. Nice boat.
How do you only have 660 subs you deserve more
Very incouraging, not to complicated, but with nice results, good job..now go find another v hule and do it up too so all you buds can go yank some fish out of the water, together.
Looks killer! Great work guys. How did you set up the seats? Should do another vid on the fish finder and seat setup when you finish!
That video should be coming in the next few weeks!
Is there any way you can make a video of how you wire up the led bars on the boat and all that would love that !!
Oh absolutely, thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome Job Guys! I just bought a project boat and would like to know where you guys bought that light switch Bar? All the lighting? The Hinges for compartments? Did you brush the paint on the whole boat ? Where did you pick up Carpet? What brand of glue did you use? It looks like you also stapled Carpet as well as glue, is that Correct? Front Bow lights? Blue lights ? Small interior white lights, can you say where you got all these supplies? Did you use 5/8” or 1/2”plywood? What did you water proof plywood with? Thanks in advance!! And again Great Job👊🏻👊🏻
I wish i never found this channel lol , I’m itching to find a 14-16ft aluminum boat to do a build on . I’ll probably look for a old 14-16ft starcraft that’s a closed bow with a windshield and then remove the windshield and cut the front making it a open bow because boats like you guys have cost the same or more as a older starcraft of the same size here in canada and those starcraft are tanks ,very well built . I can get one for $3k or less just hate to butcher one up being there classic boats but with the closed bow you lose so much space . . Love the channel and can’t wait until you post new fishing videos with the new boat you just finished
Did yo used special marine paint or normal automotive metal paint?
did it stick up good on the boat?
I'm looking for restauring my similar boat, thanks from Quebec
We used industrial grade enamel paint by rustoleum. It holds up much better if you sand off the old paint first and get it on the bare metal.
What did you use on the plywood to seal it? (the "salmon" stuff)
It was some generic stain and sealer. Its more so to seal the wood than stain it, but even good quality paint would do the same thing.
Any advice?? I found a boat the other night, yes found. It was placed next to my dumpsters but it is in fairly good condition, i assume its aluminum and there were two paddles inside. I’m not really sure where to start with this project weather it be sanding or what if you have advice or any links I could look to for help it would be greatly appreciated. The assumption to why it was tossed away is that maybe they just had it and didn’t want to put the effort in to fix it up or they maybe got an entirely new one all together and didn’t think this one was worth selling.
I would first check for a hull identification number as the boat will need to be linked to your name for current and future registration with your specific state if you are able to keep it. The WORST thing you could possibly do is to put time and money into it only to have it revoked or even worst be accused of stealing the boat. I would contact your fish and wildlife management officials and report the boat or ask for the owners contact information to ask them what is going on. I had a friend not to long ago have a similar situation arise where they found a boat off in the woods not far from a boat ramp that was clearly abandoned. Working on boats is a lot of fun and a very rewarding process at that, but certain rules and laws need to be followed. I would hate to hear of you undergoing potential legal repercussions just for working on a boat. However, with all this said I think it could be something worth pursuing even if you cant keep the boat in the end and I wish the best of luck to you!
Looks great guys. Question, when water gets in the boat from rain or out on the water, where will it drain ? There does not appear to be a clear path under the decking to drain.
If I remember correctly this was an issue that was usually remedied with a dry towel.
How long did the paint take to fully cure and hardened I painted my boat with same paint and it seems like paint might not hold up to good
We gave the paint 24 hours between each coat as suggested by Rustoleum. If the coating appears to not harden correctly, I would check the humidity/temperature of the environment, or consistency within the can (can be fixed by stirring the paint in the can for a few minutes before application). Multiple coats and a good clean surface to adhere are also critical to the adhesion of the paint. I hope this was somewhat helpful.
What did you guys use to waterproof the wood decking and what this
and what thickness plywood did you use for the decking
We used some discounted stain and sealer from a local hardware store and 1/2” regular plywood.
@@MissionForFishing nice. Thanks dude
Seriously nice job guys very very cool how does the paint hold up
It holds up surprisingly well, but it can get scuff marks if something metal rubs against it with force. Otherwise it is some crazy tough stuff and work great on both boats and trailers!
Y'all did a fantastic job the boat. How much extra weight did you add ? Will you have to increase your horse power, can you without going over maximum rated HP to boat size ? Really great looking boat.
I think when it was all said and done it totaled to be around 150 lbs. The boat was slow to begin with, only having a 6 1/2 horse Johnson so I believe the top speed dropped from 9 mph to 8.
What paint did you use?
Rustoleum industrial grade enamel paint. I go over it in more detail in the video about painting my personal boat.
How did it fish? It looks like you changed the center of gravity. How stable is it with three guys fishing. Thanks
It was actually pretty nice to fish in. We had three guys in it on one occasion on some big water and I remember we were pleasantly surprised that it handled about the same as before.
blinging it out makes it heavy. But it adds resale value if kept clean.
I have the same hull, I can put it on the roof rack of my volvo, I don't want to have to trailer it.
Keep it simple or trick it out, you decide.
Keeping it simple and light also keeps the ability to portage to more remote lakes as well.
Just came across the video. How did it hold up?
Held up great for the year or two we used before he sold it.
What type of boat is that?
How thick of plywood are you using ?
You guys did a great job
1/2", Thanks!
What kind of paint should be used for an aluminum boat?
The general recommendation is to use some sort of aluminum specific primer, and then use your choice of paint over which. I have found that many places recommend acrylic or latex for the main coat of paint, however in my limited experience using acrylic, it usually runs off over time. I have yet to try latex based paints on boats. We have found tremendous success with only using enamel based paints however. We specifically used rust oleum industrial grade enamel, of which is linked in the description of this video.
around how much did it cost you to do this renovation? looks great !
I think when it was all said and done the final cost was under $200 dollars.
