- I purchased this14 foot alloy boat with a 30 hp outboard motor $400.
It had been sitting in a barn for many years so will need a lot of repairs. Lets see if it runs and floats.
Part 2 here - • Ocean Testing the Rest... - Jak na to + styl
Your son will grow up with the knowledge that anything is possible regarding mechanical contrivances, because you are simply outstanding with discarded and abandoned machines. It bouys my spirit to think that as I get older, those things that I held dear and worked with were still held in regard and still preformed as designed. It is a metaphor for life, and very good viewing on youtube.
you son wants some attention lol
Great video for Father's Day.
Marty keep being real, so rare on youtube.
Yes very refreshing!
A true pioner allround.. and skilled..!🤗
Says more about you than everybody else....
lol
He's a Mainlander, from the south island. What do you expect.
I like your son always agreeing "yep", "mm-hmm", etc like that is exactly what he was about to say
We think alike 😂
Smart kid!
Marty is such a nice guy. Not only will he buy your boat for $400, but he will give your tree a prune on his way out.
But I didn't want my tree pruned; it was perfect just the way it was! 😭
Nothing better than giving old equipment a good cleaning and get it running again. Thanks for the post!
It's like spending time with your best mate as you fix stuff. Since I live in a different country to my mates you fill a void in my life. Thanks.
Now pass me a beer and show me that again.
😁😄
Watching you and your lad working together is so stinkin WHOLESOME!!!!!! Love your videos Marty!
My old man is an engineer and now I'm a marine engineer and love my job. I'd love to see his progress as the videos continue.
I hope you take a look at the amount of Floatation Foam that has been lost, you can cut a sheet of foam and hold the pieces in place with spray foam. A single 2" x4' x8' sheet cut into pieces gives a quarter ton of positive flotation to the boat. And if you swamp the boat, the boat becomes a lifeboat to save your families' life's. Something that needs to ne looked at. But looking great!!
Yep the floatation is intact under all the seats
That was so satisfying! Clean it out immediately, inspect everything, replace what needs replacing, properly fix electrical issues, including wire loom, grease and lubricate everything. I've seen too many "will it run" videos where all they care about is short-term functioning, not even cleaning things out.
Good to see Toby supervising dad, team work.
the problem with the oilers is that you only find out they arent working when your engine locks up... always premix your fuel.
Yeah that's not a bad idea, Im always dubious of old self oilers
7:10 that timber board was very happy to see you!
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to tell these wonderful stories. Blessings from Lookout Mountain near Chattanooga Tennessee USA.
Marty you have the most well mannered children. Eager to learn and very attentive. Well done.
i love how unimpressed your son was when you got it running well lol, he was like yep I expect nothing less from you dad, lets get this in the water hahahah.
Great Father's Day video.
Thank you very much for publishing the longer format video. Eagerly awaiting the next edition. Thanks again.
As a man who's all things wheels especially motorcycles, boat 2 strokes are a piece of work and in the past shoehorned in to race bikes with great success
Another great Saturday Nights entertainment with NO b.s. Love watching your vids Marty, and yes I do learn a lot from you but love to see some of the things that I was shown by my Dad many years ago as well. Cheers, John.
you are an expert at resurrecting the abandoned. Thanks Marty.
More occupants of Marty's home for wayward tractors and boats. Hooray!
Watching you is always good for learning about a different & better way of fixing the problem. Your children have the best teacher to learn from, I wish I had a Dad like you..
Another sweet resurrection Marty! A rather simple "running when parked" story. The top to bottom Inspection and PM job you did was terrific. That little runabout will good for many years of enjoyment. Maybe Toby's first boat?
Naah - You will come across another diamond in the rough and restore it as apprentice and Master when the time comes. ♥
You've done a proper job on the entire boat and trailer. Excellent!
Hi Marty, I’m always impressed with you. If you’re not mechanically minded you always explain what you are doing and I think it’s fantastic. Specially when you’ve got your son with you and he’s always learning all the time and you’re teaching the viewers of your CZcams keep up the good work always appreciate your videos cliff from Queensland Australia. We’re on the big island
Just like a lot of boats Marty, many are just "yard ornaments", sit on a trailer and go nowhere. You'll use it, so another good score.
Easily worth the $400. Engine turns over, includes trailer with turning hubs and the best part, the roof over the helm!! Priceless!! You'll be able to camp out in it! 😃😁👍
Looks like a nice boat. Should be a blast.
As a kid, I grew up in Pennsylvania, which had everything that a boy like me needed. There was a huge river about 100 meters away from the house, which I fished and did things near on a constant basis. The family had to move to Texas when I was 12, where there was no nearby rivers. I never got to be my own "Captain" of a river craft, but your family (kids) needs to learn to operate a water craft and water safely.
If you come across a small tri-hull craft, get it! They are more stable in the water, and more fun! Good Luck!
That's a thorough job! Can't wait to see it on the water!!
I think there's a follow up?
Let's go Marty T... what a way to end the day here in Oklahoma
Looks like a good buy my friend. Love the way you start at the beginning with your service/investigation. Pays everytime.. Happy days! Enjoy.
Two videos in the same day?!! AWESOME!!
A worthy addition to your family flotilla.
Nice cleanup/restoration job! Seeing the buildup of mold and moss being pressure washed off is quite enjoyable. Kind of like an eraser for years of weathering.
put a small long hose on your spray gun...with an undercoating mist nozzle on the end of the hose...then use it to spray a mist of lanolin based rust proofing inside the steel tubing.....thats how we rustproof car rockers/pillars and truck frames up here in canadaland
I agree wonderful end to the day in Ontario, Canada
You need a proper 20m long zinc/galvanzing bath station to your site. Then you can dip those trailers like they do it at factory.
Nothing better than a long Marty T video. Thanking you, from Nagaland, India
Anutha great vid, nice ta
See ya showing and explaining things to ur kids, great education fir them. Always enjoy your vids, plis makes me just a wee bit homesick.
Would love to see a Q&A vid for 500k subs answering some common questions and showing all the machines you've got. Great video as always!
Thumbs up signal - priceless and memorable. That picture is a keeper.
I love watching this guy breathe new life into things.
Nice find. I've got a 25 hp Mariner of similar vintage. Mines an 84 model. That 30 hp looks like it pulls over a lot easier than mine, but mine has never given me problems and starts right up every spring after sitting all winter for the last 12 years in a row. I'm just glad it has electric start. All I do is clean the fuel filter, drain the fuel in the winter, and change the impeller, spark plugs, and gear oil every few years. Good motors and yes the trim tab is the anode.
Water pumps always fail this old...its a given great video and always love the 2 stroke motors way more efficient!
Not true at all. Not in the day and age of modern 4 strokes.
2 strokes may be smaller and lighter, but burn more fuel for same power.
love this guy,, like I say, i know nothing about machinery but I could listen and watch this guy all day long,,, he's so calm about what he does , unbelievably knowledgable and makes his craft so incredibly interesting,,, you have one hell of a lifestyle and so very lucky 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for making this into 2 separate vids.
I love hearing your chickens "talk" as they hang about.
I think that even Jim Browning would appreciate and approve this video and brother Martys efforts... 👍
She's brand new Mate! Attention to detail is the sign of a good craftsman. Good to see the Kids learning at an early age!!
It's an awesome Wednesday morning when I find a new MartyT episode in my feed.
He always comes up with a new bit of something or another to fix up.
This one was a really good find.
It's amazing how fast his boy is growing up as we follow Marty's adventures fixing up others castor's.
Won't be long till he's Dad's number one right hand man wrenching right beside Marty.
Finding his own gems in need of fixin'.
Enjoy your time with your son on the water I love getting out there fishing just need another boat 😀
Tough day over here. Very relaxing watch you work on a gem. Thanks man.
Great little handy boat for epic fishing . Nice work
Good on you Marty. Looking forward to seeing the maiden voyage!
Excellent outboard service video, great job on the boat
Brilliant video as always. Very informative just like RCR. A great reality check. Thanks again
What Marty teaches is what happens when you don't take care of equipment, how to repair damage and how to care for it properly. Then, he takes the wonderful equipment and uses it to take care of his family and property. Schools should use his videos to teach self-reliance.
a joy watching you doing it right.
Very thorough rehab, great job as always.👍
Nice little run-a-bout you've got there, Marty. It will be great to use for close to shore fishing trips and taking the boat out to get some fresh air and maybe do a little coastline exploring. I enjoyed the video on the process of getting the boat, motor, and trailer back in shape.
Marty - An old trick I heard about cleaning insides of truck frame box sections... grab a long piece of threaded rod, two washers, two nuts, and a couple 8-12" pieces of chain. Sandwich the chain to the end of the rod, mount the other end in a drill, and send it down the tube. The chain will rub the rust off at least most of it, and if you go slow it'll whip itself into the square corners a bit too with the slack slamming into the edges.
That is a good tip thanks
I enjoy all of you're video's especially the one's whenever you involve you're children .
Another sterling job on a project. Looking forward to see part 2. Keep us updated. 👍
The longer videos are always the best.
Awesome video! I can hardly wait to see what is next. Thank you for sharing! 😊
I'm not into boats but I just like watching you do stuff.
Brilliant solution to getting the boat off and on the trailer by yourself.
steal of a deal! All pretty routine fixes too. Nice work
thanks for the confidence
It is always good to see an old boat getting a new life! Alloy boats were never very popular over here in the UK or Ireland. You were spot on with the annode on the motor. Off to the test run now...
As for the tyres if they're not too badly cracked I'd drop the pressure to 10-15psi and run them for a mile or 2 and then pump them up to 50+psi preferably with the weight off and let them cool, works a trick for cars that have been lying up.
Excellent job as usual Marty.👍👍
Cool another boat. Better out of the water, than sitting in the water for 14 years. Great Channel.
Another good one, Marty. You have some right friendly hens, but watch that they don't eat your small parts. Nice seeing the kids, especially watching your boy helping out.
A cracking video, what a find. Thanks Marty, helps a lot!
Really enjoy your videos. Always happy to see the notice.
Marty's son gives dad the thumbs up 👍......I will too.😊
What I would find as junk, you turn it into treasure! Well done, Marty. From the California, USA
Awesome salvaging a run about and making it great again.
Those older oil injection motors are bloody awesome...👍
Starting the day off with Marty. Hello from Kentucky.
awesome project and awesome outcome!
Cool little boat!
Beautiful work
Thorough job! You are such a hard worker.
An amazing job , and the work into that trailer, WOW 😮
Sweet deal. Thanks for sharing
A very thorough job as usual. 👍
Score. The kids are going to love this thing. I doubt they get as much excitement with all your old tractor and crawler scores.
For that screen, I'd be cutting a big section out and supporting the curved corners with alloy T section and have a removable or folding flat-ish new front screen (alloy extrusion framed). Be nice to have the option of nice breeze/wind on summer days, and be able to climb and sit on the front when fishing.
Mariner, a Mercury with a different paint job if you are looking for parts etc..
Nah mercury and mariner were owned by brunswick corpoation, this model made by yamaha!!!
Propa thorough job.
Well done Mr 😎
Man. nice I would have ordered some new sparkplugs when you got the water pump !
Hey Marty, that corrosion is due to the leg not being electrically tied to the lower cowling/housing. From factory there should be a braided steel wire with round crimp terminals tying the leg to the rest of the engine across that gap where you disconnected the shifter rod to remove the leg.
sweet little beater boat.
Your First Mate is doing a great job.
A strip of aluminum glued along the base of the windshield. To add strength.
Your skill of repairing is only match to skill of finding equipment. Be it has tires, tracks or floats.👍🏻🥝
Take the boat, clean it up. Turn it upside down and spread it with bed. Liner put about 2 coqats on it and you'll have a new bed bottom of the boat. The bed liner from the they spring trucks nowadays will definitely keep it afloat
Ahh the good ole tool pro. My first set ever and favourite so far. Love ya mart keep the good stuff coming.
More great entertainment! Love the T Shirt Marty - Go RCR 😀
Very nice restoration! You got lucky on the engine. Congratulations
First time I've seen anyone test a thermostat on YT prior to installing it. Always a CYA procedure we were taught to guarantee integrity... That motor runs sweet...
