  • In this weeks video, I will show you how to modify your OBS Vacuum Booster Brake Pedal, to be a Hydroboost Brake Pedal.
In my previous video showing the OBS With the Hydro Boost setup, I mentioned having the pedal is part of the upgrade. This video will show you why, and how to make you own pedal.

I have had everything for a hydro boost swap in my basement for 9 years now and still haven’t gotten around to making it happen. Perhaps someday! I ended up going the zero loss booster route and it was a drastic improvement over stock. Nice work with the video and placement of the pin. Definitely easier to follow then the old forum posts!

You’ll get it eventually! The video is nice because it shows you different angles and the photo links aren’t broken! Haha

This is exactly how I did my 96. I can’t believe how porous the factory weld was when I was grinding it off!

Instead of trying to find center of the old pin hole and then measure center-center of the hole, you could just measure down from the pivot arm to the center of the new pin location (would have to get that from a “good” hydroboost pedal). It would save you A TON of time trying to guess center locations and all

The demonstration of the difference between the pin placement was more so to really show there is a difference between the pedals. For drilling the hole. The measurements were taken from the pivot to center of pin, as you described from a hydroboost pedal and drilled.

@@GarrettsOBSGarage yeah, I commented early and you got around to it later, I debated deleting my comment but left it. I’m in the middle of getting everything for the swap, and I’ve seen too many people talk about measuring center to center

@@nathan1sixteen yeah. It’s the best way to demonstrate the difference. But isn’t the best way to figure out placement. No worries though!

You’re welcome! That’s not good. Seems like Gates has discontinued making the lines for it. We are living in a time where parts are going to be very hard to come by for these old trucks.

I have a 97 F350 7.3 and thinking of swapping to a hydro boost & rear disk break mod since I just bought a 10,000 lb dry weight 5th wheel camper. 2 questions.....which hydro boost would you recommend ( I've watched a few DIY vids and a lot seem to have issues or have to do modifications on top of the modifications to make it work ). Second question, If I don't have a template pedal to go by can I assume on a 97 that center hole should be standard 3.5" down? Exactly how you measured?

88-97 F-Superduty is the only bolt in booster. I believe OBS solutions may have came out with one as well now.
Yes. Measure as I did. It’s approximately 7/8” different from your original pin.

Seems finding accurate info for Fords with hydroboost is a pain. I wish I could find some info like this for the Mustang juice booster I'm using for a swap.

hi Garrett! I did my hydroboost swap this weekend and im experiencing a few technical issues that cant be explained through forums or through technical support from the companies in which i ordered the parts from. I'm wondering if you may be available for technical support? i would be willing to compensate you appropriately for your time troubleshooting. thank you

Why does the hole in the pin need to be pointed down when you weld the pin to the pedal?

That way you can install it easily when it’s put back in the truck.
