What an embarrassment of a man Embiid is ditching his country. First it was France because ofc he had more chances of a medal with Wemby, Gobert, et all. Now US smh. I can't believe they even take him. Lets say it loud, Embiid is not from the US, neither he is from France. He should be playing with Siakam for Cameroon and try to get a medal for his country.

Is Siakam confirmed playing for Cameroon? I know we're only 2 games in the playoffs but so far, after Jokic, he is playing the best. Will he be able to take Cameroon past Montenegro and Latvia in the qualifying tournament?

As an American living in Indiana, not sure this roster will be the actual Olympic roster. Embid is hobbling on one leg, Leanord as well. We will see after the playoffs who actually can make it. Even as is, it's a bit long in the tooth and I could see a well prepared team beating Team USA. Canada, Serbia, and France will all think they can win too.
If Joel Embiid picked France instead USA then the outcome would be different.....but the truth is....he should play for Cameroon lol !!!!
If Joel plays in the Olympics, that's it. His career is over. He is pathologically unable to stay healthy even when playing 60 games a season. The last thing he needs is the Olympics.
He’s spent half his life in America. He was 16 when he left for America and learned how to play basketball in America. He only started when he was 15.

This tournament is rigged already, to avoid european countries to steal the show and embarrass the US. Only 12 teams ? that’s a joke… only 1 qualified per tournament is a joke, look at the groups in Piraeus: Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, two of these will get out, meaning you won’t be able to see Giannis and Luka together in Paris, it will be either Giannis OR Luka 👎🤬

Great roster on paper but people forget there is only one ball in a game. All these players are the #1 players on their team however that doesn’t mean anything. The 08 redeem team barely beat Spain until Kobe saved the team. 92 was the only year I remember where USA dominated by wide margins.

Heavy favorites to win it all by average of 25 pts margin. However, in one game you never know. The 2008 squad was even more formidable and yet Spain was very close to upset them . The game has evolved and in one game teams like Serbia , France, Canada or Germany for sure can bring a surprise. I think US wins it but the opening game vs Serbia will show the direction this tournament will go. Some of the stars are right now aging or injury prone and you never know.
the problem is that Emflop is playing for the USA though. you know FIBA refs are noname league refs, they will give Emflop 30fts a night.

@@captainzursee3071 Emflop doesn't just sell light contact fouls, the point of flopping is making it look like you were fouled, however "hard" of a so called foul that may be. the refs give those calls because they believe the player was acually fouled while in reality he wasn't, and Fiba refs are low quality refs, so there you go. they won't review every damn foul to make sure it was a foul or a flop.. let's wait and see. I hope I am wrong and you are right.
Spanish team in that moment is the best team who play to USA team ever. I writing this as ex Yugoslavia country man. Spain has unbelievable team. Pau, Juan Carlos Navaro, Rudy Fernadez, Reyes, young Marc Gasol, other - great crew. Now all countries like Germany, Canada, Serbia, Franch have quality but this team of USA will bet them with + 20 point. Maybe Canada if Murray and Wiggins would be play make this difference low, but I am not sure. Embid is the main problem for everybody. He make 15 % of USA quality in this team.

Tatum should have an * when associated with that 2019 USA World Cup Team. He got injured in pool play in the first round and didn't play in the two games that the US lost. It might have been a different result if he played instead of having to rely on Harrison Barnes and Joe Harris as starters

Aside from a terrible performance in '04 in Athens, they've only ever lost the gold to the Soviets a couple of times, back when they weren't sending pros.

Only if they start practicing as a team as early as possible. Remember, that many national teams have a set of players that have been playing together for years (and are used to FIBA rules). It is not 1992 anymore and the Olympics are not an All-Star game. But if team USA Basketball would put in the preparation work - i.e. practicing in a training camp for six weeks - then they would be hard to beat.
My country Slovenija play in 1/4 final world cup 2014 with Usa. 1 half we lose only for 8. But later our best go out for fouls and Dragič was alone. We go tired and final 40 points lost. Without Luka. 🤔🇸🇮

@@slXD100 FIFA eligibility is: 1. Player born in a relevant territory, 2. Player biological mother or father born on relevant territory, 3. Grandparents born on relevant territory and 4. Player has lived continuously for over 5 years in a territory after the age of 18.
It’s my understanding that a player can switch in FIFA from junior representative until a full senior representative appearance (unlike FIBA where you are essentially tied to the one nation)

So sad that this is the best team USA can trot out now. The Dream Team had every single MVP from 1984-1993 and the top 6 vote getters in 1992. This year’s team features…… a sympathy MVP from last year and none of the top four on the MVP ladder this year.

The French getting pissed at embiid playing for the USA is not only hypocritical but rich. If anything he should be playing for Cameroon so they have no right to cry because they stole him from his country in the first place.
The French didn't want him to play for France. He contacted the FFB (not the other way around), Siutat and Diaw listened to him and he wasted their time. But most French fans disagreed on him to play for France, just like most Spanish fans were not too fond of Brown playing for Spain in the Euro

Honestly most of the superstars nowadays are from outside USA. Murray and Jokic are currently the best international duo.
Since Embiid cannot get a nba title, he is trying so hard to win atleast the gold medal to build a legacy, what a clown. Not even a top 100 for me with this crying mentality. You don’t have to win a title to have a legacy, but what you need is hard work trying to get better don’t complain it is what it is and make your teammates better and have a winning mentality, that is legacy for me
Team USA is what I expected. A blend of the best veteran superstars with the best young talent in the NBA. But I see three defects. a: High age average (at least for the starters) b: there is no a real three and d (catch and shoot) player in the roster c: There should be one more shot blocker-post player big in the roster

USA goes to the Olympics with such a team because European players dominate in the NBA in the last 4-5 years and they want to keep their prestige high. However if there was a united European team, USA wouldn't have a chance against them.
As European myself, don't get our hopes up. The only European players that are dominating in the NBA are Doncic, Jokic and Giannis, that's it. If you're going to pack European best basketball players againsy US best, we will still lost. One, because chemistry is paramount on winning international ball. We are not going to make a team, we are just making a bunch of good players just like how the US are doing for a long time. Second, given that both teams had already built a good chemistry, we will still lost, other than our trinity of Doncic, Jokic and Giannis, we dont have enough players who can create a shot for them.
