    Great review, thanks for the insight - I think Takuma have some great ideas, I have one of their boards and it's fantastic, for me as a novice and mainly winging on lakes. When it's time for my next foil, once I have a little more skill, this Kujira looks like a good option. Thanks for sharing, and great to see review from on a lake, on a regular sized board,. Keep em coming!

    At my spot everyone doing 360’s have TK Kujiras. I bought the TK 1095 recently and progressed immediately upon getting the right mast placement on my board. FYI, I use Teflon tape for gas lines around the fuselage to tighten the front wing fitting. The wing does everything you said and so thank you for this review. 🤙🏻

    It'll be the front wing winglets that make it so stable. My old North (ie duotone) foil has them and it feels super stable and locked in

    Your reviews are very well done. I read somewhere that Takuma uses projected areas and so compared to other manufacturers the area values are lower than actual. In any case all reviewers seem to love this foil. One comment that has come up is how dangerously sharp they are. Erik from the Progression Project recommends sanding down the sharp edges.

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  Před 3 lety

      The projected areas are such a small difference from their true surface area, I didn’t even mention it. The winglets are pretty sharp. I may sand mine when wetsuit season is completed. Thx for the positive words. 👍

    I tried a friend's 980 after spending time trying to hold down 1500cm² wing in huge swell. It was great, but damn those wingtips I mean c'mon. I had an inch long rip in my wing when I came in that had to be from a foil wingtip. Aside from that it was outstanding.

  • @borino16
    @borino16 Před 3 lety +1

    I'm glad you have reviewed this foil. I was curious how these wings compare to the rest. Because of prevailing light winds in my area, large foil wings are must. However, higher drag of large wings is causing problems for take off as well. What is your gut feel for early lift of 1440 vs conventional wing size wise? I'm currently using Armstrong 1850. Thnx

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  Před 3 lety +1

      I can’t compare it to the Armstrong but I have an 1880 conventional wing and it has noticeably more lift than it.

  • @fluiditynz

    I've been making my own wings since starting a year and a half ago. I've done tubercles on all 6 of my designs this year. The last 4 I've made some significant design changes in another direction. How did you find breach recovery on the Kujiras? And have you had a chance to compare with the new GoFoils with the mould ends cut and welded on at an angle for their 2022 foils released late last year? Personally I believe the tubercles can arrest stalls before affecting the whole wing but my other changes are doing more to stop stalls from even starting anyway...

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  Před 2 lety

      I haven’t tried the GoFoil. The Takuma is phenomenal at breech recovery.

    Hello from Greece! I'm thinking of using the 980 for kite foiling. I'm 105kgr (230 pounds/16stone) and I am wondering if this wing setup will get me going on my NEO 11m SLS with 8knots. My Foil level is also OK (i have maged to learn to jibe/ducktack etc) Any help would be appreciated mr !!

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  Před 2 lety +1

      Alkis, the 980 will work for kite foiling but my personal preference would be a lower aspect under a kite to enjoy more carving freedom and other qualities not needed under a kite with a higher aspect wing.

    Hello Kyle! Thanks in advance for your increíble reviews. If you can please give me some advice. I'm planning yo Buy a kujira 1210 for wingfoil BUT y wonder if i can use it for kitefoiling as well. Im am 80kg and intermediate kitefoiling rider on a cabrinha hirise lift 900. I know from what understand from your review on youtube, that kujira 1210 works well 100% for wingfoil. but i what % does it work well for kitefoiling in your opinion? my expectation is that if it works at least an 80% well thats ok for me. Thanks in advance!

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Matias, it would be a lot of lift for kitefoiling. I would recommend if it’s in your budget to add the Kujira 980 front wing to the quiver and you could kite with that and also wing with it in higher winds. You definitely can kite the 1210, but it’s not ideal.

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  Před 3 lety +1

      It would be hard to do that because the 633 wing would not be a foil for winging, but apples to oranges, much more impressive in terms of lift, pitch stability, and user ease.

    • @mirzapirza
      @mirzapirza Před 3 lety

      Thanks! The reason I'm comparing them is because I kite on a 1200 sqcm Naish surf foil and I'm wondering what the Takuma would be like for kiting instead of winging.
