Thanks for watching! Did your baby love or hate their first bath? My first born hated having a bath! But my second and third love it!

I am a first time mom and mine adores it so much.
Just watched your video before babie's first bath. He loved it!
The baby bath seems a little awkward and small though.
Huge tip that really helped my baby have a pleasant bathing experience with no crying since day 1!!
Once you put you baby in the bath, immediately place a handtowel soaked in the warm bath water over the baby so that she remains warm and comfy. My baby's face scrunched up and was ready to let out a big cry the second she was placed in the bath but as soon as the warm handtowel went over her chest she calmed down and I've been doing it ever since :) Hope it helps!!
I always hold the baby by the ears when i bath it so i can't burn my hands on the hot water.
My two babies loved having baths but definitely I tell did not like getting out.
Thanks for a great video Emma. Keep them coming please.
new mom to a baby boy due any day now, thank you!
thank you for the tips ma'am,its very helpful this video too our new mom out there❤❤❤
omgsh where was this video when I had my newborn last year! Would have saved me from so much stress!
Keeping them covered with a warm wet towel is a big help, and for my angelbath seat I put another down for him to sit on. He loves bath time!
I am now a mom of 3 and still learning something new from your videos all the time, thank you!
Congratulations on the arrival of your 3rd!
And thank you so much for this huge compliment❤️
Same! 😆
Thank you so much for the tips! Our baby enjoyed her bath so much!
I'm so glad!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ! CAN YOU PLEASE POST A VIDEO ABOUT TEACHING A "BILLINGUAL TODDLER" TO TALK. I AM ALWAYS CONFUSED IF I SHOULD NAME COLORS OR OBJECTS WITH OUR NATIVE LANGUAGE (ARABIC) OR THE SPOKEN LANGUAGE (ENGLISH)
Hi emma, what sunscreen would you suggest for 10 months old baby.. Please let me know as i need to travel with my baby in summer to other country
Thanks very much for this advice
No worries!
Thanks for this video. Very helpful
You're welcome!
Babies are so cute
Very helpful. Grazie!
You are welcome!
Good reminder at a good time. My second baby is two weeks. My first loved and still loves bath time. We’ve only done sponge baths with number two so far, but are about to start using our baby tub.
Congratulations on the safe arrival of your little one!
Very helpful❤
Glad you think so!
Hi Emma, new parent here. Love your videos and guidance. Thank you!
Welcome to parenthood. It’s the best thing in the world (challenging at times but totally worth it)!
@@EmmaHubbard ❤️
Hi Emma could you please do a video on baby proofing the house? Thanks!
If we add soap, do we add the soap in the tub and how do we rinse them after the soap?
I’ve learned a lot. Thank you. Im gonna be a mom this coming August hehehe
Congratulations!
Thanks for the information, have learned new things today , am 28 weeks pregnant first time mom, I completely have no idea how to be a mom...your videos are helpful
You are so welcome! Congrats on your pregnancy!
Can you please share the brand of the bath tub? Looking for something simple like that. Thank you!
@EmmaHubbard My baby is 3 weeks old and has ace on face, chest and back should i continue bathing him. I canged soap from aveeno to ceravare. I also give him a oil massage before bath
Hi Emma, my 2 year 9month old who is very fond of bathing started hating bath and has been crying a lot since a month. How can I make her enjoy bath time again? Thank you 🙏
2-3 times a week actually seems like a lot still for a newborn, I only bath him max once a week he is not dirty
Yah, I only bathe my little one once a week too. Of course a blowout diaper or a bowl of spaghetti in the hair is a different matter. They get an extra bath for those kids of things 🤣
Depends on spit up. If he gets spit up on him a lot then he’s getting another bath. We give him a bath in the sink or in the tub. We lay down towel in the bottom and get it warm and lay him on top of it. We use a detachable shower head to give him a bath. I don’t use dirty water to clean him.
What about babies that are in childcare? You still give them bath once a week? I work in a childcare and will be bringing my newborn with me once i'm back from maternity. I remember with my first born i give bath every other day and i make sure i moisturize his skin.
Yeah we were bathed once a week. Maybe a little catwash with a cloth
@@user-yl5jg9hp6v I would not take a newborn to childcare in the first place. It might not be the case where you live but in our country we have one year maternity leave. No newborns ever step foot in childcare
Nailed it! Now it’s a challenge to brush my one-year-old daughter’s teeth without her squirming away. Would love your advice on that! ❤
That's great you nailed it!
It can be really challenging to brush a toddler's teeth! The only way I could convince my eldest to let me brush her teeth was by letting her brush my teeth while I brushed hers. My mum thought is was so funny!
In saying that, I have made a video on tooth brushing tips which you might find helpful. Here is the link in case you want to watch it. czcams.com/video/L4wm07i4Z-I/video.html
I hope it helps!
@@EmmaHubbard Thanks so much! So cute, I’m totally trying that tomorrow morning! And thanks for the link! 💕
I am a new Father expecting our baby in a little under three months so thank you so much for the video Emma! Question, instead of soap and water could natural oils and water not be used instead? I would assume that would protect the skin from drying out and serve as a very gentle and nourishing alternative to soap bathes.
Personally I would just use water only, no reason to introduce oils to a newborn.
Very interesting and informative video! In South India, we bathe the baby everyday, probably because it’s very hot in most places here all year round. The traditional bath is given with the baby lying on the bather’s outstretched legs and can look pretty rough for the uninitiated-the baby is massaged quite vigorously during the bath, plus the water is pretty hot! The belief is that this relieves the body aches from being handled all day and I’ve seen that my baby does sleep much better after the bath. This type of bath requires a lot of skill, though, because you have to balance a squirmy, soapy baby on your legs while pouring water over them with a mug. So we usually hire an experienced elderly woman to come in and give the baths daily.
Brazil here. Same thing here and babies love a warm relaxing bath time.
my steps to bathing my baby, our house is always warm due to central heating
1)put her in a car seat/pram(because she crawls away), put her 2 towels in the bathroom and make sure its clear at least for the next 20min
2) take 1 diaper, 1 vest, 1 body suit, 1 pair of socks and 1 mini trousers
3) take a big changing matt, put on the bed/desk then put a blanket and a changing matt on top
4) take her hair and body oil or lotion and put on the side and collect a few toys so she won't get bored during the changing process
5) go to the bathroom, rinse her dish thoroughly and load her baby dish with some clean water and baby soap
6) Take my baby out of the car seat/pram, remove her clothes (on top of the changing matt liner) and remove the changing matt liner to the dirty clothes
7) go to bath her with no music or loud things ideally. Allow her to play until she gets bored then
8) bath her from hair to feet with body and hair soap then get her out onto the towel then to the prepared changing matt. she hates the belt so i don't use it on changing matt
How long we spend in the bath and water temperature is subject to the weather and available time and how happy she is. Ideally bath her everyday but sometimes every other day and sometimes twice a day especially after a mess.
no issues with "too much bathing at about 8.5months
Thanks so much for sharing this! It's great to hear how you keep your little one entertained when they are able to move around and hold onto things and play with them!
My babe HATED her first bath because I didn’t keep her as warm as I thought I did (forgot a warm cloth on her chest). Her baths now aren’t too bad, she just kind of stares at me like wtf are we doing mom? 😂 the only issue we have now is the drying off, lotion, and clothing. We run a space heater but she just does not like the process.
I do find babies, particularly newborns just hate getting dressed. It usually gets a lot better with time!
@@EmmaHubbard that’s very encouraging! Thank you!
Same with my baby. She loves sitting in the warm water and when I place a warm cloth on her chest. 🙃 But towards the end of and after the bath, tends to get loud and fussy. 😒😕
Ma'am, when can we start massage before bathing to a newborn. Watching your videos regularly from India.
Hi, im a new mom, we dont have to turn to the back to bath their backs?
My new born since his cord dropped I bath 🛁 him everyday at 19:30 Uhr ⏰ it makes him sleep 😴 really well and every morning i wipe his entire body with warm water with wash cloth to kick start a day ❤❤❤it makes my life so easier 😻😻😻😍😍🥰🥰🥰
If we do choose to use some mild soap or shampoo, how do you rinse it off properly? it seems like the baby tub would at that point be "contaminated" with the run-off suds, so that water would never be clean enough to rinse with, would it? And since the baby is partially in that water throughout the bathing process, it seems like you would never get rid of all the soap on their skin unless you rinse them outside the tub? But this feels so cumbersome and dangerous to do with a slipper baby. Do you have any recommendations?
Same question in my mind
I use my detachable shower head if I bathe him in the bathtub in my bathroom, or I use the kitchen faucet if I use the kitchen sink (I put the baby tub inside the sink).
Hello Emma, till what age should the baby be bathed only 2-3 times a week?
She said till the umbilical cord stump falls off
I prefer to bathe the newborn in the sink using a soft baby seat/lounger. There is no space to place the tub somewhere up so for me and my back this works best.
The sink works so well!
Sponge bath worked for me on mine
Thanks for sharing!
Is a regular washcloth good enough or does it have to be something special for babies?
I, baby daddy, think a regular one would be sufficient and good enough but the baby mommy says it has to be a special one.
Hence I'm asking you, what should we do?
Baby wash cloths are softer and thinner. I wouldn't oppose using regular washcloths, but would pat or lightly wipe sensitive areas instead of swiping or scrubbing.
Thank you for the detailed information, however washing a baby's head before the body is less safer when it comes to preventing the baby from becoming cold and so forth. It is recommended to wash the head last and this applies to grown ups as well.
In our country it is a custom to wash babies two times a day; if they are not bathed they scream and cry out their lungs. In this video I learned more about supporting the neck . Thank you
That is so interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Wow, different perspective! Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏻
Same where I'm from. My newborn has been given a bath everyday since birth. Not bathing daily is quite odd.
I enjoy watching your videos though Emma, they are quite informative.
I wonder if where you are from is more humid or hot and the water can be refreshing versus being in a cold or dry area?
In Brazil too. We bathe baby everyday.
OK so my children are teens now but I always washed faces before putting them in the bath. For hair washing I would take all their clothes and leave the vest and nappy on. I would rap the in a towel a then hold them up against my side with my non dominant hand supporting their head a neck. Then wash their hair over the bath. Then I would finally remove the vest and nappy and go into the bath to wash their body. I just found it easier that way as my children liked to wriggle a lot ever at a very young age and I just gave my piece of mind. For my two the best part of bathing was when the cream was put on
Hey Emma the other video is not there. Please give it in description
Sorry that is so weird. Here is the link to the video on bathing tips: czcams.com/video/zDkAwAniYxo/video.html. Sorry about that!
What if the temperature in your town is very high and they are sweating alot.
wait how to you wash all the soap off? do you pour out the water and get fresh tub?
Nope I just use the water in the bath. It's not a lot of soap.
We bathe our son every second day he's 11 weeks now. I just use that baby cetaphil wash and lotion. I find that if he goes longer than 2 days without a soak in the tub his bottom starts smelling funky lol.
Chuff the midwifes I'm bathing mine daily, I will not tolerate whiff bottoms
I bathed mine every day. We did that in our family
That's great!
I bath my baby 3 times a day and he's now 2 months. I do this because it's always hot and dry in my country so he gets sticky and uncomfortable so he can't go a day without bathing. If I tried to bath him just once a day he wouldn't sleep because he'll be hot and uncomfortable.
These also for tropical country? In Indonesia baby take bath 2 times a day and using soap
I come From Uganda,we do the same And the babies love it
What about if they still have their umbilical cord stump ?
Sponge bath only then until it comes off
I bath my baby almost every day unless its cold and i only us cream to bath her with se enjoy baths i have a cushion for her to sit on in the bath that supports her witch made her bath time more comfortable for me and in joy abel for her
Thanks so much for sharing!
Our newborn is covered in very dry skin (he was 2 weeks late). Should we still bath him? Will it be sore beneath the dry skin?
Sorry this is a little outside my scope. A doctor should be able to answer this question for you though.
@@EmmaHubbard we asked on the last midwife visit - apparently they say no bathing until the 6th week for *any* baby (though the NHS website says you can from day 1). Same applies to ours 👍
I was taught to bath from day one even before the cord fell off. And it fell within 5days. When it comes to raising a newborn baby, i will always follow my mummy’s advice.
Great that you have a supportive
Mum!
It’s good to listen to new information too, tho.
Not all advise is good advise
I bathe my new born every day.. and I also did that for my daughter and she turned out pretty fine. I'll continue to bathe him everyday.
Why would you even post this? Go watch your mommys youtube channel then lmao.
going back to husband house after giving birth, mother in law suggest bathing my baby, while my mom at home said no need to bath her yet. but i let mother in law bath her since she insisted and that babies should be bathed after they are born. and she also said to bath her twice everyday, like so different from what you guys are saying to do..
Could you explain why a crying baby stops crying only when you stand up/walk around while holding them?
Sounds like colic or gas. My son does the same thing. Also being spoiled.
My son is the same way, I think they just like the comfort of being held. Especially if they're newborn cause they can't self soothe yet.
I only bathe once in a while. I use washing cloths for "dirty" areas, instead. And when I bathe him I do it in the sink on a towel...easy 😎
Thanks so much for sharing this tip!
My 2 month baby sweats a lot especially head and smells cheesy I don’t know why ?
What's a barrier cream?
Vaseline
When can you start bathing a baby everyday?
My baby hated his first baths and he also peed alot and would over fill his diaper and soaked his bed so I had to bath him everyday. You don't want urine on your baby.
Huh. My parents would just take my sister or me into the shower with them. Is that a bad idea?
When my son was born, I bathed him every morning. To me, newborns wake up smelling sour, and I hated that smell. Plus, by bathing them every morning, it helps prevent them from getting cradle cap. And trust me, you won’t dry out their skin if you bathe them everyday, for that’s a myth. My son is now 8, and he has such soft skin that he doesn’t need lotion when I bathe him every night. Having dry skin is hereditary 🙃!
Is it wrong I'm here to learn about babies but I'm not a parent
Not at all. Baby development is amazing!
7 weeks umbillical cord stump 🙈😖
That one is hanging on!
@@EmmaHubbard the stump outa hell 😅
Wipe babie’s eyes before putting their bum in the bath!
I thought the same thing…smh
I don’t like all the soapy water
No worries. Just water works fine too!
U doesnt keep good neck and head while bathing
Don't immerse your baby in water rather do a face cloth wash down
