- HOW I FIXED THE DREADED GEAR SELECTOR MALFUNCTION IN MY 2002 MERCEDES BENZ CL500.
All parts were bought on eBay for around $200.
This applies for the W215/W220 chassis. Parts were from a W220(S Class) donor car

You can also reset your transmission to relearn how you drive….very simple task.
The more I work on my C320, I’m always amazed at how well engineered these cars are. Very well thought out, unlike other cars. …and I thought a BMW E46 was easy to work on. For instance, the fuel pump only took me 15 minutes to change, whereas most you’d have to drop the gas tank…etc,
You can get a brand new key shell from EBay and Amazon for silly cheap, then simply swap the brain from one key to the other. I did the same for my C320.
I have the same exact problem on my 02 cl500 same color as yours had mines over 5 years I got a lot of work this issue with the gear selector and power steering pump issue. Keep doing what you do. I have two of these cars so I know the headaches
Once you go German automotive, you NEVER want to go back. I thought Japanese were great cars, till I tried out a German car.
People in Lansing, Michigan do not know how to drive as well.

Getting a set you mentioned for an amg is a task
I'm pretty sure you can use the same set unless you're looking for a push start. I'll let you know if I find one.

You have to swap out your Eis(ignition switch) and your ECU. They all have to come from the same donor car. It won't work if you just replace the shifter. Check eBay for the whole set. They usually run around $300.

Wow, thats low mileage for a Benz. Ive seen them go to 400,000
