    What a great video! Just what if been looking for to practice landings. And finally a clear explanation of what slew was about. I've watched a lot of tutorials and none of them mentioned these things. Your videos are terrific. Every beginner should watch them. They're easily the best beginner flight sim videos on CZcams. Thank you!

    I'm fairly new to flight sims, just starting to practice landings, and this video has exactly the info I needed. I've found other vids on landing technique, but none that talked about getting into position like this. Thanks so much.

      Don't forget all the free flight lessons in the sim itself😅

    Thanks for sharing this info on MSFS, which otherwise seems difficult to know about.
    Also, excellent presentation of the info ... well prepared and well delivered video, not "off the cuff" as so many videos are.

      Thanks! I put in a lot of work to prepare my tutorials this way; I always appreciate hearing when someone gets some value from it :)

    The thing with your practice method is that you are placing yourself in a position where you already have the airport in front, at a manageable altitude with no high speed. It's not difficult to land in that way. The real issue is when you are coming from an actual flight, and you see the airport ahead. In most cases you need to turn the plane to the right or left when still flying and you have to deal with many things at the same time: altitude, speed, and the most difficult one, maneuvering the plane to place it right on front of the landing track. That is what makes it difficult. I initially thought that the flying crew from the airport were going to give some directions/instructions but they don't... so you really don't know what to do. It's very difficult to land the plane. It's like you have to do a lot of mental guess and calculations to barely guess when to start doing all these maneuverings. It has me puzzled to this day. I'm very new to the game but I am having a lot of issues with that part.

      Yes, this was meant more as a how-to-practice-landing, not arriving at the airport. That’s a great idea for a further video, I’ll add it to my list!

    The landing challenges use different planes, so you need to familiarise yourself with different planes.

    With the final approach mode, the plane keeps calling out "don't sink" during the landing. Is there a way to change that? Tried with a Cessna 172

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Před 2 lety +2

      It might do that if you have the throttle in far enough and you’re descending or you don’t have the flaps out; it can get confused and think you’re taking off in those circumstances and tell you to ‘not sink’.

    Any way to change the distance without using slew mode?

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Před rokem +1

      Yes, you can click on the map to add a custom waypoint, at which point you can choose 'set as departure'. It puts your plane at an altitude of 5000 feet, so you'll want to be far from the end of the runway!
