  • Here is the World Premiere of the new SEPLOS BMS 10E with Bluetooth app!
    How easy is it, to replace the old BMS version with the new one? How does the app connect to the BMS? Are all parameters and functions available through Bluetooth? How does the new BMS connect to the Victron Venus OS?
    We will answer all these questions (and many more) and also have a detailed look at the new Bluetooth app of the SEPLOS BMS 10E.
    In the second part of the video, we're going to connect the SEPLOS BMS to the Victron Cerbo GX. This is really an easy task now! The SEPLOS BMS acts like the good old battery monitor or Smart Shunt and also shows all parameters in the Victron VRM.

    I am using a Growatt 3000 24v unit that was donated to my channel, and frankly I hate these all in one units, there is a language barrier with support, no clear instructions on how to do firmware upgrades, no clear information on how to set battery-charge parameters etc, after seeing your sucess "and a few failures with victron" I will be going with thier gear moving forward, I am just glad I did not invest a lot of money in this all in one unit, keep the great videos coming :)

Now after delivery, it is the old one and they dont care. Watch out what you order, customer service is not the best. And i ordered 22 in the year 2022 in total so ... a BIG dislike, they dont care what they communicate.

    The battery CAN cables A and B is a bit of a mess. Different GND pinning. But in many configurations it is sufficient just to connect CAN-H and CAN-L. These pins remained at the same positions. Hi Andy, glad to see some new content. I eagerly await your videos and I have seen ALL of the off-grid videos. I was wondering why during the time you were waiting for the new panels to be installed you didn't line up some of the old ones along the fence and/or on the ground to help keep your batteries fully charged. That might have relieved some of the stress of waiting for the installers. I understand if you disposed of the old panels immediately after removing them, but I would be surprised if you didn't keep some for "emergency" purposes.

Sadly, domestic Chinese companies never seem to use their services. They're only brought in when another company OEMs the product.

    Hi Andy, interested to see your experiments connecting 2 BMS to the Cerbo. Here is why: Today I finished my 2nd unit (CAN). First setting DIP switches and connect them together and to the PC via RS485 - worked nicely as expected. Then checking Victron Remote Console, BMS is not connected any more...huh? Switched DIP1 on master back to zero and it connects. Again DIP1 to ON and communication to Cerbo lost....
    Cheers Andy 🙂
    Aunt Edith says: Master DIP5 must be set and Slave DIP1. Cerbo shows one battery with the average SOC value....nice nice...
    BUT: Chatting with Jerry - once you connect 2 or more BMS via RS484-CAN the communication to the PC via RS484 does not work any more. SO no monitoring on the live system without separating the communication on 2 Packs (one for CAN-Cerbo and the other for RS484-PC). Quite a bit dissapointing. I was expecting the multipack can be monitored while running in the ESS. Still Venus shows highest and lowest voltage cells in the 2 packs... thats good enough right how...

    Just a question, how can you add some more Seplos Battery Sets - because you have no possibility to easily open/close the 120 OHM by any jumper at the Seplos BMS. It will not be possible to daisy chain 3 or more Seplos Battery Boxes

    • @CollinBaillie
      @CollinBaillie Před rokem

      You only have one CAN connection from BMS to the Cerbo/Raspberry pi.
      If you have 6 drawers of batteries, they use the RS-485 ports to talk together, and the single drawer connected via CAN acts as the master or controlling drawer which talks to the rest of the system via CAN.
      Given that the Seplos BMS supports something like 32 linked drawers (in parallel), you'd need a LOT of battery to warrant another CAN connection.

      I also get quite good solar on cloudy days. I believe that diffuse light likely acts a bit like a fresnel lense, and evens out shadows - a fully cloudy day, particularly when it's very high cloud, is often better than an intermittently cloudy day on an otherwise sunny day. @@DezFutak the Seplos BMS have only one communication port for the inverter (CAN). The other two RS485 ports are for connecting other BMS when paralleling battery banks. I don't know what protocol the BMS are using to talk to each other via these ports. It might be possible though to read the data on these ports at the same time.

Do you have a suggestion, if and where i could contact for the information if a replacement of the LCD screen with the one including Bluetooth would work and where i can order just the LCD screen?

      @tomkohout8456 Před rokem

      @@Bjoern___ HI we must clarify the problem. BMS has two different interface. One is RS485 for comunicate between bms an pc and second is for comunication between bms and inverter. Second default is using CAN protocol but 10E version should support CAN and also RS485 protocol for inverter comunication. Andy shows in video, but rs485 didnt work. Not all inverter support can protocol.

    • @tomkohout8456
      @tomkohout8456 Před rokem

      Hi i will answer myself. BMS ver 10E comunicate with inverter through RS485 without problem only you must check correct pins on inverter and bms. I found big problem when you let the bms control the inverter values (pylontech protocol). Inverter use these values for start and stop charging values. Battery bulk charging voltage-(stop charging) and Battery float charging voltage-(start charging). Bms has one parameter - 14 Total_voltage overvotage protection.
      So if you have on inverter pylontech bat protocol, bms setup bulk and float charging voltage on the same level as overvoltage protection. If you have off-grid it can be dangerous for your mppt because bms cut charging when current is about 10 A and if you havent connected load your mppt can be destroyed.
      Why seplos did not create separately fields for setup bulk and float values? Why they use overvoltage protection value for this??? 🤔
