    Hi would like to know,should one bake a cake keeping the heat on top and bottom all at once or only bottom?

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  Před rokem +1

      Hello Marwa 🙂 When baking a cake, or cookies or pie, or anything in an oven, you MUST use both upper and lower heating rods ( elements ) at the same time. On all ovens you have a bake mode, which automatically uses both the upper and lower heat at-the-same time. If you live outside of North America then your oven may not have a "bake" mode as mine does, so you can do it manually if your oven allows you do do this. Just remember - for good overall baking in your oven, heat must be the same inside, that means heat at the top and heat at the bottom. IF - you only use heat on the bottom, or only heat at the top, you will have BAD baking results. I hope this helps .

    Thanks for the video. I just made a cake based on your recipe 😋. Quick question: why do you bake at a constant 180° throughout? Wont it burn the sides of the cake?
    I decided to also follow your 180° oven heat and the sides of my cake and the top is very brown close to burn and a little strong. Although the inside is same as yours. In the past, the sides of my cake while adjusting the heat ends up at light brown. How can i still get light brown with a constant heat? Thanks in advance.
    Also, my cake and yours broke in the middle. Is that good baking? I thought it shouldn't break. Previously, my bake most times dont break. How can i (and we) always prevent a broken cake top. Thanks
    PS: the aroma of my cake is heavenly. Thank you.
    I'm also currently waiting for the cake to cool, so that i can dig in 😁

      Hi, I always bake any cake at the same temp throughout the entire process. If your baking tin is good quality ( thicker metal ) then you should not have a problem with it burning on the sides, - now if you think that is happening, you can certainly bake at the original temp for the first 15 minutes to make sure enough heat is entering the cake batter, and then decrease it ( the temp ) - also - baking temps will be affected if you have a convection oven and are using that mode ( some called it "forced fan mode" ) If you do use a convection oven, then you *must* decrease the temp a little bit to adjust for the higher temp of the oven, as hot air is blowing onto the outside of the cake tin, and also over the top of the cake, and this will make browning *much faster* A trick to have a more even / uniform browning is to put a little piece of aluminum foil over the top of your cake once you see it has set correctly on the top.... this will slow down browning on the top and allow the sides and bottom to catch up ( make them more brown ) On a cake like this, a broken top is something you want to see, many like that part of the cake as it looks better / more professional. This type of cake, you'll see in the bakery - the top will always have a slight crack on the top, and it will have browned also by the time the baking cycle has finished, it adds character to the cake. I am happy that your cake tasted that good, and I'm thankful that you decided to watch my video ! Thank you 🙂

      What a pound cake should be. I substituted orange juice for milk and orange extract for vanilla and it came out sooooo good. A drizzling of dark chocolate creates an exciting flavor. Yum!

      Hello Beenish, traditional pound cake does not contain any chemical leavening agent ( baking powder or baking soda ) this type of cake is supposed to be more dense, more "heavy'" in texture. IF you wish, you may add a little bit of baking powder to the recipe to lighten it up.

    • @beenishtauseef8262
