i just have this little thing that's dumb and its bothering me, so i'm just gonna leave it here... i bought my ukulele nearly two years ago, because i was inspired through a beautiful person. and it sounded so happy, I wanted to always create happiness around me. many of you did the same.. bought it because you were inspired, bought it because Twenty One Pilots (heheh) and other great reasons. and we we're unique ( : . but now, a lot of teens are beginning to play it simply because it looks cute. i have at least 4 friends who bought one, but never learned to play it.. they just take hipster pictures with it. its now completely normal aND I KNOW IT'S THERE CHOICE AND THIS IS SOMETHING REALLY DUMB TO BE MAD ABOUT BUT IT JUST UPSETS ME A LOT AND I WISH THEY COULD ALL HAVE AN ACTUAL CONNECTION TO THE MUSIC AND NOT TO THE IMAGE AND THE WAY IT LOOKS OK BYE
Well, I asked my father if he could buy me a cheap one, so if I'm not going to play it's not that bad. And yes, I want to play because of Tyler 😅 But I also want so surprise my friends (who all don't know about it) with a song they like. Maybe surprise my father too. At this moment I'm still waiting for my uke and I hope it's not gonna be that bad. :))
i totally agree! i'm getting my first one this week (hopefully!!). tyler joseph did inspire me, and as did dodie clark. i tried viola (for three years ffs) and it just wasn't my thing, so i'm trying to find an instrument i connect with, and i really hope that the uke does that, because i love the way it sounds. but i definitely agree with your point! extremely true.
update: Ukulele is my love! 2 months later I am really proud of myself because I never learned playing on an instrument and now I can play on a Uke. And the feeling that I know accords and can play sometimes fluently is wonderful (personally).

I bought my ukulele 6 years ago in Hawaii. I gave it to my 2 year old granddaughter who loves strumming the strings. I decided to tune it and get serious about playing it. I know how to tune 6-string and bass guitars but not how to tune the ukulele since it is tuned differently. Thanks for this tuning video.
If you just bought a new ukulele and the strings keep going out of tune, that's normal. It's because the strings haven't been stretched but eventually they will stay in tune. The more frequently you play it, the faster the strings will get used to being stretched and they won't go out of tune as often.
thanks for this, i just got it today and they went down by an entire semitone while i left the house for 5 hours. thought i'd have to tune it 24/7 for the rest of my life 💀
I can't get it to the standard tuning tho. I feel like I'd be pulling the strings too tight because the strings keep pulling themselves loose immediately ;-;
@@jayandremcmurtry7331 you should be able to pull them to the standard tuning and a bit further before the strings might break. you should probably continue tuning it this way, eventually they’ll stretch enough and stay intune. if you really don’t wanna risk breaking strings then you could stretch them out as much as you’re comfortable with, every 30 mins or an hour. stretch them further each time, eventually they should reach the standard notes

no matter what i do my uke doesnt sound the same as online tuners. like i can get the level of sound to be generally the same but the.. like actual sound is a totally different sound. kind of like a different tone or something. im brand new to ukelele so could it just be my ear?

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! My ukulele suddenly was terribly out of tune from one day to another. And i couldn't seem to get it in tune by ear again. I was looking for an online tuner that uses a microphone. The one you linked works like a CHARM!
If you're confident you're doing the chords as they're shown on the tabs sheets, intonation is VERY far out; scrap your uke and get a new, better quality one.
It may be that the intonation (placement of the frets) may be off on your uke. Don't jump; go to a music store and try a few others to see how they compare.
I know this post is 2 month old, but the way I do it is I hear the pitch, and then hum it and pull the string's pitch to my hum's pitch. Did that make sense? lol
Bethany Dawn Yep, that's pretty much correct. That's how majority of people do it, although some still believe that digital tuners are the way forwards..... :(
I was the exact same as ye two but then I found an app that uses my phones mic to help tune the ukulele and I got it sorted within minutes!! I used Simple Ukulele Tuner (android) Hope this helps :)

for those who are struggling with the turning side pattern of the tuners all you need to do is: G,C=turn on the left E,A=turn on the right and then proceed to find the right tuning according to the video (hope you understand)!!!
Says 3 years ago, but for posterity, I've read that baritone ukuleles are conventionally tuned in a different way to most ukuleles, linear DGBE is the rule of thumb. Though it probably affects playability since I've also read baritones have few resources, no thanks to that rebellious tuning.
My grandma, who taught me how to play, said that the easiest way to remember is to sing along with the right strings. She used: My Dog Has Fleas (g) (C) (E) (A)

I know this post is 2 month old, but the way I do it is I hear the pitch, and then hum it and pull the string's pitch to my hum's pitch. Did that make sense? lol

I was the exact same as ye two but then I found an app that uses my phones mic to help tune the ukulele and I got it sorted within minutes!! I used Simple Ukulele Tuner (android) Hope this helps :)

for those who are struggling with the turning side pattern of the tuners all you need to do is:
G,C=turn on the left
E,A=turn on the right
and then proceed to find the right tuning according to the video
(hope you understand)!!!

This worked perfectly! I have a baritone, and I'm used to a soprano (I bought this ten minutes ago) so I was really unsure how to tune it
Says 3 years ago, but for posterity, I've read that baritone ukuleles are conventionally tuned in a different way to most ukuleles, linear DGBE is the rule of thumb. Though it probably affects playability since I've also read baritones have few resources, no thanks to that rebellious tuning.

um...how is this the same as the strings....XD. "My" Does not begin with G. "Dog" does not begin with C. I think I missed something here.
@@mayahosullivan9683 nope. Nothing is missed. It’s just the sound of the strings. The saying for GCEA is go collect every apple but when u play each sting, it makes a sound and you can sing “my dog has fleasssss!” While playing each string.
