this is a dumb question but how hard do you press on the strings while doing the chords? I feel like I'm pressing too hard because it sounds like the strings aren't vibrating as much as they should
im tired of playing guitar . and now i want to try ukelele...

Thanks dear... I dont understand why i strum both instruments with all my strength.and it goes like my strumming sounds still poor. Its too low.

Alexandria King ok then let go a little bit of the strings but not to much or else you'll here a buzzing sound... also on a fret u wanna make make sure ur pressing dow on the middle of the fret... not the line on the bottom

Rui Camba Yeah! Everything but strumming with your index finger. I tried that, and felt like I was about to rip all the strings off, so I stick to using my thumb. And the strumming pattern "down, down up, up down up" was hard at first to not pluck off the strings, but practice really did help.

This is very "doable" for children as young as 4 or 5, and if they learn to sing with it, their ear and singing voice and rhythm is being developed very early. Can you imagine the potential abilities in all forms of music later? Especially if they start that young!
Grace vanderwaal on AGT made me fall in love with ukulele and tonight my sisters music teacher was playing one and I asked him like for tips where to get one and what kind, etc, and i watched this and got so much more excited. Definitely gonna be watching your videos to help me learn how to play one!! thank you !

Ronan Hart Here's a tip: do what the person tells you but switch the 2 and 3 around, its way easier for me, that's how I learned it

I bought my ukulele in Indonesia...it has steel strings...not nylon ...I can tune each string to the correct note using a tuner app via microphone ....but when I play chords it doesn't quite sound accurate ...could this be due to the steel strings ?? Thx!

+Austin Bazaar- so i just bought my very first instrument yesterday - a KA-T (kala tenor) ukulele. i am trying to get some chords down now, but it sounds different.. not as soft perhaps than what your playing(as well as other instructors iv watched... is this normal? iv bin tuning it with an online app, so im pretty sure its tuned properly. any tips tricks or comments on this. thanks!! :)

why am i watching this? i've been playing ukulele for months and use it for concerts now 😂
I just bought a ukulele yesterday I tuned it, played for a bit and then half n our later it was slightly out of tune I thought that's probably normal strings have to set and what not, so I tuned it again and played some more I later went home and wanted to play some more it's been an hour and once again it's out of tune, so I tuned it and played it's the next morning and once again out of tune is this normal??
Low-quality Jay It's been a month, so it's likely you've found the answer out already, but yeah, it's normal. I just got my ukulele today, and it's already been tuned three times in a few hours. The strings should hold a tune after a few days, apparently. :)
