- Tribute video edited by Randy Young of Thomasville in honor of Larry Munson, the greatest play by play man ever, melding his words with the new most famous play in Georgia football history. Done solely to include Larry in the joy UGA fans are currently feeling - he deserves it!
You ain't a real Bulldog if this doesn't bring tears to your eyes!
GO DAWGS‼️😢🏆 still on a Championship High & this did just that!!! That Play was the nail in the coffin that let BullDawg Nation know we was comin home with the Natty, there will be No Bama Magic tonight🏆🏆🏆
When you live in California but live and BREATHE SEC football bcoz bloodlines made and make you
Amen Samuel
You ain’t lieing
It's all of a sudden really dusty in here...
Dang, this ole Dawg gets to cry all over again. Munson would have broken several chairs on that one! Great work!
Not to mention the property being destroyed in Indianapolis
A metal, steel chair
I really miss the games when you zero the volume on the TV and listen to Munson call the game. Good times...
i still do that with howard, plus i can’t stand listening to those TV goobers anyway
I picture this in heaven...... Larry was calling the game with other angels sitting around watching .
Just wonderful. I so wish he was still here. He was Georgia Football
"We just stepped on their face with a hobnail boot and broke their nose. We just crushed their face." We love you Larry. We miss you terribly. Rest In Peace Great One. Rest In Peace.
I remember listening to that when it was live. If my memory serves that was the Auburn game. A good friend of mine was telling me of when she and her first husband met Munson many years ago. I spoke to her Tuesday before I left the US and she said well I bet Jeff has a smile on his face now. Jeff died several years ago! Her husband was a huge fan that was actually at that Game with ND when Georgia won that last championship. I think his family went to all the games that year.
@@THE-michaelmyers Naw man, hobnail boot was against Tennessee in 2001.
@@AnneliseBlackbriar Thank you! maybe I was remembering the "sugar falling from the sky".
Thats how it sounded in heaven, my granddaddy is having lots to smile about in the ole here after, DAWGS, BRAVES in the same year👼
Not sure how you did this, but it’s amazing. Absolutely incredible.
This should somehow be added to the Georgia Bulldogs Hall of Fame.
I agree with the person above.......Not sure how you did this...but it's awesome.
A Natty doesn't seem right, unless Munson calls it....with this "call" ...... The 2021 National Championship is ..... Complete. Thank you Friend. B🥰
I'm bawling like a sinner at a tent revival right now...
However you did this... Thank you.
Thought y’all might enjoy something I wrote for the Thomasville newspaper:
Lady Luck Finally Winks at UGA
“To be the man you have to beat the man.” - Ric Flair
11:42 pm, January 10, 2022. Remember where you were and who you were with, so you can tell your grandchildren about it.
To heck with “2nd and 26” - let’s talk about “THE Pick Six.”
It is a moment that will be forever etched on the heart of the state of Georgia, for it was at that precise moment that demons that had haunted the souls of Georgians for four decades were once and for all finally exorcised and sent back to their rightful place in the nether regions, otherwise known as Alabama.
It was at that moment when freshman defensive back Kellee Ringo intercepted a pass from the quarterback of the University of Alabama and returned it 79-yards for a touchdown that secured the national championship for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Yes, that University of Alabama, the one Georgia “could never” beat. Yes, that quarterback, the one that won the Heisman, beat the Bulldogs just five weeks previous, and said of Georgia after “they ain’t (slang word for manure).”
And yes, those Georgia Bulldogs, the ones that hadn’t won a national title since “Let’s Get Physical” was the #1 song in America.
In that singular moment, decades of near misses and abject frustration were wiped clean and flushed from the collective spirits of the Dawgnation. And that it happened against Alabama - yes, defending national champion Alabama - made the exorcism ritual all the more sweeter.
As the cheers of joyful elation from that moment were released, you could almost hear the red & black clad player/coach/fan congregation say in one unified heavenly chorus:
“Not today Saban - not today.”
Now, don’t tell anybody I told you this, but I didn’t think Georgia had it in them to beat Alabama. After all, the Crimson Tide almost always wins this kind of game and Georgia almost never does.
I guess ‘almost’ really does only count in horseshoes and hand grenades.
I watched the game with my usual crew (former UGA cheerleader Barbara Dixon calls us “The Georgia Boys”) that has gathered to watch games over most of those 40+ years, and to be sure, just like always there was much gnashing of teeth and bone…all the way until Ringo’s heroics.
At that point, we were all overcome with emotion, realizing that this was actually and finally happening. I’m not too proud to say we all hugged, and yes, even got misty eyed. There was a lot of baggage to unpack in that moment, and it wasn’t lost on any of us.
Making the story all the more remarkable, consider just two of the players leading this Georgia team. Zamir White, born with numerous birth defects and given two weeks to live, grew up to become ‘Zeus’, a powerfully-made power running back who scored Georgia’s first touchdown.
And then, the college football story written by the Hallmark Channel, one Stetson Bennett, “The Little QB Who Could.” A 5’9”, 180 pound no-star walk-on from Pierce County recruited by nobody, everybody in the world doubted Stetson Bennett - everyone, that is, except Stetson Bennett.
All he did was keep on saying “I think I can, I think I can…” Now he can grin at the world and simply say “I know I did.”
Afterward, it was all about giving the Dawgs a bone, albeit one shaped like a national championship trophy. Every member of the team and coaching staff got to give it a nibble. Make no mistake, under Kirby Smart it’s a flavor they’ll enjoy again, and sooner than later.
For 40+ years, all us Georgia people have heard is “1980” over and over again from every fan base around us, referencing the last time the Bulldogs won the national championship. There have been so many ‘almosts’ over the years where the Dawgs ‘almost’ won it, and with each ‘almost’ there was even more ribbing from everyone else about how Georgia just ‘couldn’t win the big one.’
So, as a friendly reminder to my Gator, Seminole, War Eagle, Tiger, Gamecock, Hurricane, Volunteer, and Yellow Jacket friends, it has now been exactly zero years since Georgia won the national championship. You are welcome to ask any Alabama fan if you need confirmation. Heck, go ahead and ask them anyway. They need to be reminded of it, and often.
You ask any old school Dawg who Buck Belue, Lindsay Scott, Rex Robinson, Scott Woerner and Herschel Walker are, and immediately they will tell you those names were legendary parts of the story of that amazing 1980 team. Now you can add Jordan Davis, George Pickens, James Cook, Nakobe Dean and Brock Bower from this amazing 2021 team to those hallowed levels of immortality.
The legendary voice of the Georgia Bulldogs, Larry Munson, used to talk about “old Lady Luck” smiling down on the Dawgs whenever they’d win a big hard-fought game over a rival. For 40+ years it seemed like she had not only moved past Georgia, it felt like she had deleted our number out of her phone.
Well, Monday night she showed up dressed to the hilt in a red party dress with black heels on, and not only did she offer a toothy grin in the direction of the Dawgs, she winked at them and beckoned them to her with her index finger.
Even better? She meant it.
And at 11:42 pm, with a little matchmaking from Kelee Ringo the long-overdue relationship was officially consummated again.
Glad y'all like it! I teach video production down at Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, and took some time through the day today to put it together. A conglomeration of clips from several different games with the audio from the fan videos taken in the stands at the national championship game. Just happened to fit together nicely!
I've been doing the radio for Central football here since 1986, and had the privilege of knowing Larry. One of a kind, irreplaceable. I think we all wondered how he would've called that play...and now maybe we at least have some idea. Felt like a tribute to him would at least let him have a part in the excitement we are all feeling. He deserves it!
It's going to blow up.. give it a few days.. congrats, well done
I sent a FB post of Monday night being happy for my dad who was sitting up in heaven and listening to Larry Do the play by play. I was jealous. You just gave me a glimpse of what dad got to listen to. Thank you!
Awesome job. I appreciate the work you have done over the years, especially with TCC football dynasty videos.
Incredible work, excellent
Great job Randy. I just wish Scott Howard could come close to this. Munson can never be matched, but geez Howard left so much to be desired with his calls Monday night. That game presented an opportunity for him to make a legend of himself but he underperformed tremendously. We should have given the job to Jeff Dantzler when Munson stepped down. Now that guy can call a play. Much more similar to what we had become accustomed to with Munson. His Georgia baseball calls are great.
I got chills listening to this. God sent him back to us for a few moments to share the joy of the moment as our Top Dawg. R.I.P. all over again Larry Munson.
You know he was looking down and yelling go you hairy Dawgs. Larry Munson a legend who is severely missed.
Stumbled across this after SEC win yesterday. Wow. 😭😭 Incredible job. I remember him from when I was a young girl. Great memories. How 'bout them Dawgs!!
It's uncanny how accurate Munson was, even after Ringo scored, when he talked about our "patched up, crippled up, gone, graduated, sunk secondary." Well done.
Listening to Larry call a game was almost better than seeing it with your own eyes!
It was! Absolutely.
Wow! Just, WOW! Would have been SO GREAT if he had been able to REALLY call that game/play!
As a BAMA boy I have to admit that's awesome. Growing up in the 60's and 70's loving SEC football you knew about Larry Munson. One of the greatest characters in radio history. " There's gonna be some property destroyed tonight." Hoping for a rematch next year. No one outside the SEC can compete with the Tide and Dawgs.
Not only tears but man I would have loved to have heard his call! Larry Munson would be a hundred years old this year folks! I think we did him proud last year! Go Dawgs! Long live the greatest college football announcer in history! From Run Lindsey run, to hunker it down one more time! Rest in peace Larry the Bulldog Nation misses you and always will you will forever have a place in our hearts here in the state of Georgia! Larry Munson always is and always will be Georgia football nobody else!
Best. CZcams. Video. Of. All. Time! ALL TIME!
Truly amazing. Whoever dreamed this up is a genius. Made tears come to my eyes and the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I always loved how he described the game even before it started and his voice legendary. "The Dawgs in their white shirts and silver britches as we claw our way back!" My family used to honestly put the game on TV, mute the TV, and turn up the radio to listen to Larry call it play by play. There was never anyone better!
Wow.....this really got to me. Excellent job. I'm a UGA class of '83 grad. I'll never forget Belue to Scott. There were only about ten of us at O'Malley's Bar because everybody else went down to Jacksonville. The bar manager made us a tray of sandwiches. We went crazy, running around the near-empty bar. We loved Larry. I was NOT convinced the Dawgs could win it at 26-18. I saw Alabama marching downfield, tying it up and then winning it in overtime. I've had my heart broken too many times. What Dawg fan hasn't? The pick 6 let us know that it was REALLY HAPPENING!! I wish Larry were here and this really helps. Thanks.
Excellent mash-up. Shouts to Dawg Nation from Husker Nation.
Just got chills! I miss that man dearly.
I cried like a baby when this happened and then again when I watched this video!
It’s so matched up together so well that it’s almost like he was really there. I bet Larry has a huge smile on his face as he watched from Cloud 9 above.
Im a die hard Clemson fan. To be honest, if theres a team i hate more than that school in Columbia, its probably Georgia or NC State. However, i have to say i respect your football program and your university as much as any other school in the country. Your fanbase is one of the most passionate and loyal in America, and Larry Munson is the greatest commentator of all time. I miss when we would play every year, now i think somethings missing from our schedule when i dont see we play the Dawgs, id like that to change. If theres a way for Clemson and Georgia to play, i want that to happen. No matter how many times yall woop our butt, j want to see you on the schedule. I think our two great universities need some more confrontations. That being said, Go Tigers, screw the Dawgs, i hope to see yall on the field again!
Make no mistake: Larry saw this game, and gave the greatest call in Georgia football radio history!! DGD!!!!
Not gonna lie…. That brought some tears.
I’m not even a Bulldog fan, but as an LSU fan, this makes me so happy.
I don’t know how you or whoever found the time it took to hunt down all these clips to make them fit in this short amount of time. But this is pretty amazing.
Good job and thank you!
The one and only! DGD! Miss you Larry!
I'll be a son of a bitch!
Made me tear up.
Awesome brother.
This was awesome! When I was a teen all we had was radio ...the games were not on tv all the time like they are now. Larry made the games so exciting!
Great job!!! When the pick came, on the return, I was thinking of how "The Legend" might have called it!! All the Dawgs will love this one. ...GO DAWGS!!

I grew up watching the Dawgs on TV but listening to Munson call the game on radio. My first thought when they won the Natty was how I wish the GOAT Munson could have called the game. This topped of an amazing season
His next line was I GAVE UP , YOU DID TOO !!!
I started listening to Munson call games in the late 70's. Great work allowing the Georgia Faithful to hear Munson call that play! Go DAWGS!

howard was sick as hell that entire game, and still called it to the best of his ability, which was not bad whatsoever
Reliving the glory days! Thanks for conjuring up fond memories of Munson and game days past and magically merging those memories with new ones created Monday night by our National Championship Dawgs!! I appreciate your creativity; a fitting tribute well done.
