His arm was going forward as the Ga. defenseman was wrapping him up causing his arm to go forward! Fumble! If you're going to use the arm going forward concept, same thing applied with Bennett. Only thing, Bennett wasn't hit on his arm as he was throwing, his hand may have opened as he was throwing the ball but it was a forward movement, ie... a forward pass that was incomplete. If Bennett's play was a fumble then Young's play was sure as Hell a fumble. Worst calls I've ever seen and they happened in the same National Championship game!

The main reason this play was bullshit is because in the 1st quarter, they take an obvious fumble/intentional grounding by Young, which Ga recovered for a touchdown, and reversed it.

Hot takes: That hat might be worth something someday (see Dewey defeats Truman). I think that player developed such muscle memory to stay inbounds that he did "mean to." Hell of a game, nice to see Bama lose to somebody (not a hater just a CFB fan).

If Georgia didn’t end up winning this game, I would fear for the refs’ safety. The calls they made were generally ok, but the problem is they didn’t call it both ways. They called everything against Georgia and pretty much nothing against Bama for almost the entire game.

I am not an SEC fan. Georgia or Alabama I am sick of seeing them play and the loser returns to the championship anyway. But despite Georgia's players lack of discipline that lead to penalties, some calls came at very advantageous times for Alabama. I think the officials made to many subjective calls as well as no calls.

I can’t agree with you overall.
But there is one example of what you are saying.
Georgia was called for intentional grounding when Bennett thru the ball about 2.0 yards in to the middle of an empty field. The refs discussed it and called intentional grounding.
Second half Young does the exact same thing. No call.

@@batsonelectronics I don’t know if we are talking about the same play then. If I’m mistaken so be it. But the middle of the field seemed pretty open. And I thought, hey, they called inten. grounding on the same thing with Georgia.
I’m not saying I thought the non-call was intentional. Refs being human is part of the game.
If Georgia had lost I wouldn’t be blaming a bad call or calls.
Unlike the previous GA - AL national championship game. 😁

My take on the "was it a pass or not" rule is that as soon as the QBs arm starts to move forward, with the ball, it is now a pass.
Th QB had possession of the ball when his arm started to move forward. A mix of the hit, and the throwing momentum sent the ball into the air in a weird way but I believe that it was a pass and therefore not a turnover.

Then you have to explain how the ball went forward 10 yards. Basic physics says that ball can’t go forward unless he makes it go forward. So the only way it could be a fumble is if he loses possession and still pushes the ball forward after he lost possession. I don’t see it in that play.
