- New Samsung Ivy Bridge i7 3615QM Laptop! With Nvidia GT 650M Graphics Card! Model NP700Z7C-S01US Looks like this is the same Graphics Cards at the Nvidia 660m. So far the 650m Overclocks to match the 660 speeds! I just got done reviewing the Asus G75 Laptop with the 660M and it does not have switchable graphics this Samsung does!

I returned my Envy and got this laptop and couldn't be happier.
glad i held off the G75, definitely getting one of these and OC'ing it too hell!
since people are talking price ima mention that I got this 17.3 np700z7c-s01us for under $700. USD total after tax and shipping. Was "slightly used" condition, same as brand new when I got it though. Able to register it as new purchase with Samsung too. Keeping this laptop! It weighs only 6lbs and fits perfectly in my 15.6" laptop bag. GT650m matches GTX660 with a litle OC. Gaming amazing as is cpu and screen. Got 256GB ssd on black Friday for $100. and can almost sell my desktop bt not quite.
Yeah I just called and everything went well. they offered me 70 dollars in a refund if I kept it but I decided to return it. Now I just have to repack everything, slap on the shipping label, drop it off and fedex and wait for my credit to be posted. I'm going to wait a while to see what hp offers and then hopefully I'll purchase a new laptop sometime in the future. Again thank you very much, you've been a huge help!
Yes, when I spoke to the HP rep she was very aware with the issues of the 7690M XT. I would call the customer support and talk to someone about it. If you want to return the laptop I don't think you will have any issues.

No Problem! Also check out the Medion Akoya P6815: 2.3Ghz (quad)core i7, 6GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GT650m graphics with a 15.6" screen for £599 - will be hard to beat!!!
Nice I'm glad everything went well. I don't see HP updating there DV7 specs anytime soon. If you are a gamer you might want to check out MSI laptops or Clevo they are both cheaper then Alienware and come with similar components. A gaming rig is still gunna be pricy though. I will post overclocking results and frame rates when I get my HP with the 650M
It's only one option unless you decide to change it yourself - 1 TB @5400 rpm with 8 GB express cache. Paul changed his to a Samsung 830 SSD from what I can see on the forums. I'm personally going (to attempt) to swap out the optical drive and put a SDD in there and keep the 1 TB for movies and stuff.

Nice PC! And the Asus G is a pure gaming laptop, and will stay much much cooler than the Samsung 7-series under load. Nothing beats the Samsung in the looks department though - darm it that thing is pretty! I was after the G too, but have now decided to get a N76vz, because I have to use it on the go, and it´s a lot lighter.
Thanks. I'll be heading off to college in about a year from now so I need a laptop that will handle both schoolwork and some downtime gaming. I'm interested in hp because of their low prices and the internet coupons. I'm sure that within a year from now hp will have a different, hopefully even better setup. Basically I just want an all around "jack of all trades" laptop that will get me through college. The dv6 series seems to be just that for me, at a good price.
I was within the 21 day return policy. No explanation was necessary, However HP is fully aware with the problems of the 7690M and that in itself is grounds for return. Hundreds of customers with the AMD 7690M have returned there laptop. If you own a laptop with the 7690 I would recommend returning it.

Yup its the 3610QM. The difference between the 3610 and the 3615 is the Intel graphics is clocked 200mhz faster.
I had the 15" and 17" Envy both great laptops. The 15" Envy had the IPS screen which was nice but the red showed up orange both laptop still running on older slower cpu and gpu. I'm sure which will get updated soon.

I believe this should be the one. 3615QM is the ivy bridge quad core.
The Acer M3 is a thin 15.6 "ultrabook" laptop with a GT 640m :) Otherwise keep an ear out for the release of the Gigabye u2442 - a 14 inch ultrabook also with GT 640m graphics! I'm personally getting the new Novatech elite n1503, a 15.6 inch laptop with GT 650m graphics and is only £630!
u can run any mainstream game at medium to high settings and u can overclock it a bit and run all games at high to ultra settings
Samsung 15.6 i7 for $999 dollars and 17.3 for $1399 dollars. i just bought 17.3 its Amazing and i lov Windows 8.
I got this over the G75, and i sort of regret it if am honest. The G75 has many more upgrade options, like the 2nd hdd bay that the samsung does not have, and you don't need to tear down the whole laptop just to swap out the slow hdd for a ssd. Also the G75s cooling is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

the only other comparison i can give you is that a 7690 xt might be able to play skyrim on medium detail on lower resolutions, while a 650m can play on ultra high detail on normal or maybe higher resolution (over 1366 x 768 but maybe lower then 1920 x 1080)
i have been looking at your videos and subbed because you were great but the asus g75 you were reviewing is what i wanted and now your showing this... which is more bang for the buck?
Hi Paul, nice review. 2 questions:
Does the 650M really have GDDR5 RAM? Most people don't know that it's not important to have 2 GB vs. 1 GB RAM but GDDR5 vs. DDR3 is a big difference.It'd be a deal breaker for me had it only DDR3 (I'm suspicious because the ASUS N76 is advertised as having GDDR5 but in fact has DDR3 always!)
2.Is there an empty 2nd HDD/SSD caddy like in the Pavillion dv7t-7000, where you can only configure it with 1 HDD/SSD but manually install a 2nd HDD/SSD later?

( NP550P5C-S02IN) This is a gaming laptop under rs 60k and nvidia gt 650m is ranked within 50 it can play max payne 3 smoothly at highest settings and many other games at highest settings with fps above 40. But this laptop in the video is more powerful than the laptop i said so it can run max payne 3 at highest settings even more than 45 fps

I agree actually but i again changed my mind, I decided against something large and bulky and picked up a nice ASUS UX51 for an amazing price £400.
when will you do a full review on this laptop like showing us some video game play, graphics, battery life, etc. because i can't find any reviews on this specific model anywhere (17 inch)?
Sure, the GT 650M is Kepler and if it's equipped with GDDR5 RAM it IS actually a GTX 660M just with slightly slower clocks. Just use MSI Afterburner and you have a GTX 660M!
Please Nelson, I need a final verdict from your mouth as to which laptop would be best to purchase. I'm on pins and needles looking at your notebook forum reviews and I have to say; you seem to be leaning on the Samsung now.
I'm a huge fan of the Asus G Series and I'd like to know if this Laptop can go head to head in gaming. Does it get hot if you'd be gaming? What is the battery life? What is the Mhz on Ram; 1600? Does it have 2 slots for HDD/SSD's? Is it noticeably slimmer than the G75?
So I checked online and this laptop costs $250 more than the Asus G75... hmm does Optimus make enough of a difference to spend an extra $250? How is the G75's battery life when using low-memory-demanding programs (Microsoft Word, etc)? Thanks, and great videos, they are very informative.

Hi, do you have any experience with Medion? I'm thinking about buying one, and all I've heard about them so far is that their customer service isn't the best. I'm also wondering whether their laptops overheat when playing games for example and whether they just generally run smoothly. The bang for the buck you get for their laptops is probably the best I've seen. I'm currently looking for a laptop with an i7 and a 650m or better :)
I wold get this the sound and screen is better. Many more options if you can buy it from Best Buy they have a 30 day return no questions asked.
If the the laptop you are looking at and the one you have are similar in price then yes you should return it and get the one with 650m if you can. If the laptop with 650m is $100-200 more then probably not, unless the 650m laptop has other things better then your current laptop (screen, processor, etc)
I would say 6-7hrs of batter does on battery mode plus is much more portable and looks much better. The Samsung screen blows the Asus out of the water.
Yes the 650m is better..if you were to put these two gpus into classes..7690m xt is a class 2 while 650m is a class 1..7690m xt is basically a 6770m while a ddr3 650m is around a gtx 560, and ddr5 650m will perform better then a 560 in some cases

From what I heard 650 is not Kepler... the 660 is kepler
What I don't get is that this comes with 1TB of storage, yet only provides 5400 of RPM! WTF, Samsung? Should be equipped with 7200rpm or at least come with the option to upgrade with an SSD. Otherwise it renders the whole point of having so much storage kind of moot. The performance is sluggish as a result of it. A shame, because I really would've considered buying it were it not for this significant flaw.

Working on it right now so far the ram is 1600 ddr3 and only 1 slot for a hdd with a 8 gb ssd built on to the board. This laptop is 1" thin much much thinner

I just have one question about the memory. It comes with 8gb, do you know what frequency among 1067/1333/1600. Also, do you think it is easy to upgrade to 16gb or even 32gb?
Would you suggest this over the G75 considering cooling and upgrade capabilities? I'm trying to decide what laptop to get for gaming, gaming development and design school work. I will be carrying my laptop around with me a lot so portability and stability is key but I also want a machine that will be able to perform without overheating.

Over here in the U.K this laptop gets a GTX675m :)
Its a hard call if you buy the Asus as a desktop replacement you are really limited to upgrades. Really for the price of the Asus you could build a much faster desktop. Plus the Asus is much thicker than the Samsung which is only 1" think and has Switchable Graphics.
Asus would be if your more of a gamer and want to upgrade parts. But if your like me and have a new Laptop every 2 months I would say go with the Samsung.
I think you should get the new 2012 pavilion dv6 , it has a nvidia 650m ddr5 too with full 1080p display
I just sent back my HP DV7 QE with the 7690m xt graphics because the drivers are horrible and the frame rates in most games are horrible and choppy litteraly the intel HD 3000 built in graphics preformed better. HP is now sending me the DV7t QE with the 3rd gen Ivy bridge i7 3720qm(2.6 ghz) 16gb ram, 2gb nvidia 650m, 750gb hybrid hdd, win7 ultimate. This will be my 3rd HP in 4months! I hope this one has the graphical power I need for school, Game and Simulation programing. Send it back if youcan
@kcjeongzz I can say that it runs Diablo 3 at the full 1080p resolution without skipping a beat : )
Have you done a review/guide on overclocking the 650m gpu or maybe even results?
This is an awsome laptop, but the trackpad is a bit annoying, and it gets quite warm.

thanks, but have you seen the drive itself? cd/dvd just slides in the sammy, there is no conventional drive that normally pops out..? just want to be sure, im between this samsung and the asus 76, i have the money in my pocket as we speak and don't know what to do.

is this the same model currently listed on the samsung website? I was reading through the specs and although it says 3rd generation doesn't mention anything about it being the ivy bridge processor so i'm a little confused. also the press releases online all seem to suggest a blu ray drive? is that the case? i just want to make sure before i purchase it

Lots of Ram is only used when you apply anti-aliasing or have lots of tiny textures, i say you'd be fine with 1 GB
one thing i hate about samsung is their keys... its starts to wear out after a month or so

That part doesn't make any sense on their web. If it is i7-3XXX, it ought to be a 3rd gen. There is nothing like 2nd gen i7-3615qm.

Hm.. actually i switched my 660M in the ASUS ._. It has a 675M and 16 GB ram ._. I can switch the graphics. they are not integrated.
